X7 is not great. But it's not this universally terrible game that every says it is. Honestly, X6 offends me more because at least with X7 they tried something different (and didn't do so well). X6 they simply didn't try.

X6 always felt like it was forced out by Capcom before it was ready rather than the dev team not caring. It improved on a ton of little things that prevented me from enjoying X5 and there are a lot of things I think had potential but it was clearly unfinished. I think that was around the time when Capcom was trying to pump out several Mega Man games a year and you had stuff like the Battle Network games only getting half a year of dev time at most, so it wouldn't be that surprising.

X6 had nice armors, but needed more mix and match and abilities that were actually useful. There were a lot of aspects that needed polish, but it had enough NEW ideas.
It's biggest problem was really that the story didn't quite top X5, which was unfortunate. It needed more to do with X personally, and it needed to tackle those deeper themes better.
In retrospect, the donut was terrible, awful design, and X7 had some of that too.
I really want a X7 remake. Too bad that I'm sure they will never make one, be it only a remake or part of the maverick hunter series

You get the falcon armor from the start, and the game basically is harder when you don't use it.
The game suffers from a lot of artificial difficulty. You know how some stages become easier when you defeat certain bosses (They used this mechanic to a lesser extent in Mega Man 7 like if you use freeze man's weapon in cloud man's stage the invisible platforms become visible)? Why did they think that I'd want the opposite to happen in X6??

Bad stage design all around. Commander Yammark has leaps of faith. Shield Sheldon's stage is super short and repetitive. Infinity Majinion also suffers from repetitive stage design.
The boss fights don't seem so bad though and at least the sound track is good.

That just shows how amazing Mega Man 7's team was, making a game like that in 3 months is insane. To expect a different team developing for another console to be able to make a game as good in a short period of time is ridiculous, especially with the X series which is more designed around multiple characters/armors and all the collectibles and secrets. It's also worth noting that X5 and X6 had a new team from the previous games, I doubt they were as experienced with the series.

I don't think it's entirely a bad thing though since that lets people leave things up for interpretation. It's interesting to see what kind of headcanons groups of people make up for different robots, like The Megas unanimously agreeing with Hyadain that Flash Man is gay for Mega Man or Bubble Man being a bishounen.

Bayonetta, Fable II, VVVVVV, Mass Effect 2, No More Heroes 2, Bioshock 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat (which got a perfect 10/10 on Steam), Heavy Rain, Yakuza 3, God of War III, Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, Dragonage: Origins- Awakening, Sam and Max Beyond time and Space, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, WarioWare D.I.Y, Super Mario Galaxy 2 just to name a few.

Guys. It's real. It's fucking real... It's a very troubling trend with Reboots to say the least since even PowerPuff Girls has managed to disappoint me. If this trend continues, I'm very worried about the future of the Samurai Jack reboot. All we can do is hope for the best and give Man of Action our feedback on this matter by telling them we don't want Mega Man to look like this. That being said, Mega Man could possibly come out of this unscathed for a few reasons.
Capcom is working directly with the animation studio so I don't think they'll get away with any really lackluster animation. Inafune at the very least worked to ensure some form of quality control after Super Rockman Adventure came out.
