There was a huge Rune Factory sized hole in my heart after I 100%ed 4 twice.
This fills it a bit, but needs more content and deeper combat. I gotta give it to Ape, he knows how to comfy and this is a really good start. I hope he develops more content for this or an expansion pack.

Haley threw a challenge out before me and I ended up taking the bait like I was my job. She wasn't receptive to the player at first, but she warmed up over time and I actually ended up liking her as a character. Character development is a good thing, and to me, that's how you do a good tsundere as opposed to a bad one that's just wildly inconsistent with their emotions and are dishonest to themself.

What should i focus on for farming crops in spring one? Parsnips seem easy to grow but the price difference between seeds and the grown crop is only 15g, potatoes seem ok with 30g and apparently have a chance to be double the harvets if i'm lucky? At least according to the seed's description. Cauliflower seems like the best seed/crop price ratio but it takes like 12 days to grow.
I'm thinking potatoes since i can get lucky and get double yields, but i'm not sure.

Get rune factory 4, it's better.
Combat on it is much better, story is not crazy good but the characters are great. You get events for pretty much everything, there's even events where if you're playing as a girl the guy you got maxed out with tries to propose to you but each one is different, same for the girls. Farming is also there of course, it's great.

Seedmakers are pretty useful for making your first Ancient Seed pop out.
Just keep feeding it crops and it will give you an Ancient Seed at random, all you have to do next is to plant that and keep feeding the fruit into the seedmaker till you fill up the greenhouse.
Saved around 100 cranberries from Fall and I've gotten 2 ancients so far after pumping in 30.

Yeah. RF4 does a lot of things so it has to simplify them to fit them all in one package. It's not bad by any means, but it's a different game. If you only want to farm, you want SoS.
SoS does have events similar to SV, and heart events for each dateable candidate. You can only date one person at a time, but you can break up with them as well. You can propose to them or get them to propose to you.

Probably 4 iridium sprinklers covering most of the soil in the center and improved sprinklers outside the edges covering those edges. This setup gives you most available soil for planting.
One thing to keep in mind is that fertilizer doesn't carry over between seasons, so persistent crops will only be fertilized for first season after planting. That probably doesn't matter if you just process them into wine or jello.

Watch some gameplay from rune factory and SoS and decide. I honestly prefer the many elements RF4 brings and it's MUCH better than it's past games, but if you're looking for quiet farm life then i do belive SoS would be more your thing.
SoS dosn't have combat, RF4 has, but everything is much more simplified so it can fit everything.
I think both have interesting characters, but i still prefer RF4 and it's fantasy + farm life style

I did immediately try just putting it in the ground, which I thought to do becuase I'd played a couple other games where you planted trees that way. I dunno if I'd have tried it that way otherwise. Even then, I wasn't sure what I was doing was correct. I just tried it and decided to wait and see if it grew
What I'm wondering is why people in /sdvg/ are so hostile about people not getting everything in the game? Literally every time I see someone mention that they didn't immediately understand a certain mechanic or had some kind of trouble in this game, people come out to shit on them.
I don't know why I'm surprised by this since I've been on 4chan since 2005, but generally /vg/ is the place to go for actual discussion of game mechanics and conveyance instead of (or at least alongside) shitflinging. And I'd expect /sdvg/ in particular to be a little bit more relaxed.

I'd actually say Rune Factory IV is fairly close to being on par with Stardew Valley. RF4 falls short in some areas, like the much tinier farm, animu sensibilities in the dialogue, and of course the odd lack of a feature here and there, but it had some features and such that SDV doesn't have, its endgame is significantly more purposeful, and it has several handy features and conveniences lacking in SDV, like a lot more weapons that are actually usable and play differently, tags on unshipped produce types, a much more in-depth "compendium" function, and markers to show the location of townspeople.
Progress, used color samples from Real People so this should be somewhat accurate.

Ranching is the only economic option for little guys. Maintain a cow count, sell the calves and old cows to the farmers auction to butchers, and make $$$.
Calves go from $600 to $1400, depending on hay prices and other factors. Cows can give birth 1-2 times a year.
