Does leaving the barn/coop doors open at night have a negative effect on the animals?
I used to just leave them open since they go inside at night and in the rain anyway (its summer so its not cold) but then started noticing once in a while my cows or chickens didn't produce for a day or so and I don't know why. I've been closing the doors every night now before going to bed and opening them in the morning but don't know if that does anything.

eh, it's not like there were going to be a plethora of top tier sprite artists around the corner waiting to pounce on this game.
it's mostly just new art-style options, the quality is variable. it'll get better over time, but i'm mostly satisfied with the anime one. and i was very impressed by the unteralterbach-styled/inspired portraits. even if that art-style doesn't particularly appeal to me, the sprite work was very good.
more options is (almost) always a good thing, especially when it comes to custom mods.

I'm torn between Road Eternal and Fisher King. Fisher King is the obvious choice for me, but the thought of going to parallel Earths for Road Eternal is extremely tempting.
A couple thousand, ten thousand, or hundred thousand years in the Fisher King scenario may end up being grating. Maybe even end up being the last human being alive eventually.
For Road Eternal you could always just go to a new Earth though. Shame it'd be always human, would be interesting to wind up on a giant bug planet, with you being the only human.

Diamonds alone have a higher value than Fire Quartz, but I don't know how much value a Gold Star adds to the Quartz.
What's more important is diversity, so you get more full-points, instead of half-points.

I'm personally split between Fisher King and Nakama.
Fisher because, even after the world has ended, you have a way out, or you could have expanded to the point that you could have the continuation of civilization in your home. Nakama means you can never settle down, never have a life with another. At least Fisher lets you marry and have a family, and you could possibly pull a Howl's Moving Castle to have doors to everywhere.
Nakama, as you've probably seen by my posts, would be utterly amazing if it had the closure.

at first glance I thought it was a great idea to make my own seeds, but since there's a chance of only getting 1 seed back from the fruit then you're effectively waiting twice as long before you see any money from the first seed you planted to produce that fruit. The wine sells for 3600 anyway, but I wonder if some mathfag will figure out which way is the best.

I'd say, as long as you aren't growing exactly the same number of Starfruits as you are brewing Wine/Jam, it's worth it. You can slowly build up a stock of seeds, and buy replacements, to cut down on costs, and eventually make yourself independent from Sandy.
At worse, you only get enough seeds to replace what you use. At best, you get so many that you can eventually start over-producing Starfruit.

I've actually got 40 kegs making wine right now, sourced from 48 starfruits growing in my greenhouse all year long.
I think I might just use the whole greenhouse for starfruit. And in the summer my whole farm will just be one huge field of starfruit.
