My Miami hood has a lot of Hispanics and a few blacks, but the story is that the town is actually on the Central Florida coast, but Miami now takes up most of Florida's Atlantic coastline, which is why whites are even present. It's because I can't make other races and have them look like the race they're supposed to be. I sometimes make black sims and succeed, but it takes a while. I tried to make Asians, that didn't work out. I wouldn't know where to start with Hispanic looking sims or Indian.
This is all TS3, I'm sure it would be easier with TS4 since they have presets for everything, but I don't play TS4.

Currently have both games open. I always take hair off sims when I'm trying to capture a likeness, real or otherwise. My starting point was a sim of Zhang Ziyi I had sitting around my sim bin. It helps cover the lack of ethnicity presets in TS3.

TS4 Erika was birthed ingame. Her features are pretty messed up if you look closely enough, notably her eyes being really far out and high up compared to ideal. She really is the sum of her flaws though. Put glasses and hair on and she looks great.
Update. Body needs work, but that's easier to do when a sim is nude. I'll do that once I have her ingame.

So here's a difficult question to ask.
When making an apartment complex, how would I go about it? Do I make it sort of like a dorm, where it's a long set of smaller rooms (Maximum of 8 cause vanilla limits) that I'd somehow expect the NPC's to pick and claim?
Or do I make tall almost skyscraper-esque buildings with Basically 1-2 homes each floor and hope they claim it properly?
I might need an example if anyone has one.

That's the way I'd go about it, but I didn't realize it's doable.
The way EA apartments are done is non playable apartments are big empty rooms that have a door to the public space. And they're blacked out, but even if they weren't, there would be nothing there. That's the only way you can actually have the ring ring and sim comes out.
I know that Uni patch brought something different like roommate system, are you trying to utilize that rather than Late Night's apartments?
Because roommates live in the same space as you do, as far as I know. The only way to make apartments with those is to lock the doors.

And you still have to lock the doors. At least you had to back when I used that mod. They won't claim anything. I don't think other sims in uni claim anything either, they just go to sleep to a bed that's free and it gets marked as theirs, that's the only thing they "claim". Room isn't theirs.
