So when you try to customize things like "attitude" while in the campaign, its blocked out and says "get more experience to unlock this option".

What does this mean? Do I have to progress further in the campaign to get more customization options?

Some missions types, namely extract/escort stuff, have a set amount of turns (12) in which you have to get everything done.

Other missions have a turn limit (6-8) in which you have to interact with something, but afterwards can take your time with the mopping up.

Rest of the mission types, (Blacksite, terror, ufo boarding etc) don't have a limit.

For some reason, though, it has caused immense asspain among scrublords.

There is one soft increase.

When you accomplish your objective in certain maps, reinforcements will soon arrive somewhere along the path to evac. If you can't handle another pod, that is your cue to move faster or get bogged down as your real time limit ticks down.

Just a reminder if you can't finish timed missions with at least 1-3 turns left, can't successfully ambush a pod and wipe it out on activation, and can't handle Stun Lancers, Chrysalids, and have more than five troops dead on anything under legendary then you are garbage and should just set it to cinematic easy mode or refund the game because there is no hope for you.

I played Commander Ironman on my first playthrough until I felt comfortable and had a sense for research and buildings, lost two guys in three months and then restarted into Legendary Bronzeman.

I think I got stuck.

Its impossible to destroy a beacon before time runs off.

There are 3 pods
>1st 1adv officer/2adv troops
>then 3x sectoids few tiles further
>and in that house where beacon is , you can find snek + 2 adv troopers

I tried to rush with my ranger but i need 3 turns to destroy it and snek immidiately jumps and snaps around my ranger.

Pistol is only effective at close range. Only good for finishing off really weak units or just ofr giving the sniper something to overwatch when they move to a good cover. (Hunker down might be better if cover is poor)

Deadeye seems pretty essential in this game since enemy health ramps up fast.

How heavily teched up should I be before hitting the first Blacksite? I'm playing on Commander/Ironman and that mission keeps breaking me. Everything else until that point is fine, but I can't get further ahead.

Right now I've been hitting it with a 5-strong team with Mag weapons and a few special ammo types from the Proving Ground. Should I just ignore the Avatar count and leave the Blacksites until I've got a full squad with level two weapons and armour?

Not really. The geoscape layer is significantly more involved than EU/EW, enemies and your squad have more active abilities, mission structure is different and it's a fair bit more difficult than vanilla EU/EW.

also if you see a ufo flying around its a mission where they shoot you down and you have to disable their devices to take off again. you keep getting reinforcements every few rounds. once the device is down you can take off any time, stranding soldiers left.

I tried my usual strategy from XCOM EW where I'd medkit an injured unit before completing the mission, but in XCOM 2 it seems like if they were injured and you medkit them they still need to stay in the medbay to recover. It didn't alter how long they would stay in either, so I think it's based on how low their HP went.

I think it's semi random. But I had a guy who went down to 2 HP healed back up to 10+ and he was only wound rather than gravely wounded.
