So do Ranger pawns actually use special arrows? I put 50 of each in my pawns inventory but she hasn't used a single one. She's level 68 now.

Pawns are pretty much guaranteed to use Periapts against high-danger enemies like Eliminators and Living Armours, yet they...still rarely use them against Daimon. Same with special arrows. It's weird as fuck.

Periapts + Blast Arrows is god mode, so just kill the fattest thing you can access, go back to the mainland, rest seven days then return.
Use Bezeled Crown if you're a ranger to double your exp.
Be sure to have weal and weal accessories.
For efficiency, focus your farming Cursed Dragons since you can also get loads of your stuff Dragonforged at the same time.
Then once you've done all that, realise all those levels are pointless and gear is more important anyway. Have fun!

Just finish the game, kill grigori and you'll get dragon's dogma, bringing you to about 1200 strenght with the right augments at level 50 or so.

Just answering in case no one else does, I think he's supposed to be like a DPS check. If you can deal enough damage at once he despawns with hardly any damage taken, at least that happened for me.

It changes the element of the little staff projectiles. Unbuffed staves/archistaves that have a permanent element will fire the regular shots with the attached element, while actually buffing a staff/archistaff with an element will change how the shots work.
It's why Holy-buffed Focused Bolt is so amazingly powerful.

He's basically the strongest miniboss. Instantly Rifts your pawns. There's one that always spawns when you first play and after that he appears in the very dark area near the end. Post-Daimon, he gets a lot of spawn points in various areas.
