The PAs/techs/skills/PB/consumables that friend partners use are determined by what you have set on your current palettes when you register it.
So if you want your friend partner to use Resta, for example, have it set somewhere on your current subpalette or any main palette.
If you don't want them to use, for example, Zondeel, just don't have it set on anywhere, and they will not use it.

An anon in a previous thread asked me this question: "Why not SHAQ?" when I said I was looking for VHAQ runs. I now have a proper informed answer to that question.
Firstly, the capsule cost: VHAQ require 1 capsule for entry per run. This makes it incredibly easy to cycle through or spam a particular AQ because one run of the variant before (A > B > C > A) basically sets you up for 10-15 runs of the next, or makes it much easier to use the risk skip feature. SHAQ requiring 10 makes it a bit more difficult to do so, since the capsule payout at low risk is extremely lackluster.
On a 25 risk tundra, I only managed to get 10 F caps. This is in stark contrast to a 48 risk tundra, where I got 51 F caps, both runs done with no boosters. If you don't have the capsules to immediately boost your risk to higher levels, you're going to be in a circle of suffering because you might not even get enough capsules to even cover the entry cost without an actual party burst, let alone use the risk skip.
The second, and more important part: The exp. It's the fucking same as VHAQ, or if it is boosted, it's by such a minuscule amount that I deem it unnoticeable. The enemies are significantly higher level, and have more hp and damage as a result. If you're hunting level 17 PA discs, sure, go right for SHAQ. If you're after exp, run VHAQ because you'll get much, much more out of it, especially in a burst situation where enemies melt instantly.

Not to mention that everyone that is playing actively for more than 6 months should be already sitting in a good few hundreds of each cap and be able to kill xh mobs without much trouble.

For attacks, they'll randomly use whichever one that you have set. All PAs, offensive techs, as well as Megiverse, Zondeel and Zanverse.
For Shifta and Deband, they'll randomly pick one to use, usually after an interval. The interval doesn't seem to be fixed from what I've seen.
For healing like Resta or Star/Cosmo Atomizers, they'll use them when someone nearby has below 100% HP. They well use Anti only when someone nearby has a status ailment on them. Unfortunately, that doesn't include things like injury. They also may not use them immediately when someone gets hit by status ailments.
I'm not entirely sure about Moon Atomizers, but as far as I have played, and used many FPs, I have yet to see them use Moons on me if I get incapacitated.
For PB, they use it depending on if the person who summoned them has set FPs to release when filled, or keep for chaining in the quick menu.

If you're solo, yes. VH might be better. I'm saying might because I've done SH solo a few times and got 30+ capsules. Yes, I was using 250% but there's no reason not to. You get usually a ticket worth of cubes out of a SHAQ run anyway, and they're very common already so it's not a loss at all. In a 4/4 enemies melt fast enough even at level 80unless everyone is leeching, but still not too slow, and I'm pretty sure you were still under exp penalty because there's no way SH is the same exp as VH.

I was level 72, so no, I wasn't under penalty. Solo, yes, because I never joined a team on ship 4 and like my own team name too much to join an existing one, and thus my circle of friends is basically non-existant.
I will compare the exp more directly a bit later today, but I am quite confident that the exp was basically equal regardless of VHAQ or SHAQ.

90% of the important stuff you'd need to be able to read can be done with just knowing the kana, especially katakana in the case of games. Item names and the like tend to just be english words nihon-ified with extra vowels.

There's tons of good songs in this game, but a lot of the ones you hear very often like ambiance themes fucking suck. The TD songs, most of the boss themes, falz themes, and a few of the less-available maps (mothership for instance) are all pretty good but you head into forest or coast or something and the music stinks. Lobby is so-so but you don't really hear the main lobby theme very often at all, often replaced by some seasonal one.
