While there's no way to easily transfer single items you can easily transfer your whole inventory to your BoB and vice versa in 2 mouse clicks.

Making Gizmos

Augmented equipment gains levels and the perks increase as you use them in combat (Max level 10). Weapons that are leveled up provide a lot of invention xp if you decide to disassemble them. If you don't want to disassemble them you can build an item that extracts some of the built up Invention xp from them and leaving it in tact.
Specialization

This made it reliable as a special attack because it was almost ensured to do some damage to your opponent. The drawback was that tankier opponents or using any form of damage reduction fucked with the formula to make it significantly less powerful than normal. It was overpowered in most cases but still extremely predictable and barring pk highlights tier luck was not dangerous if you knew it was coming. There are people who died to claws in 2011, what do you want? No one competent was actually afraid of them. You could literally start jerking off and laughing in their faces as their whole plan fell apart by the time 2011 came around.

What I remember was people in Ahrim's casting Ice Barrage (accurate as hell) while wearing dclaws, then hitting you with double claws spec. The spec doesn't need as much luck as you make it out to for 2 main reasons:
1. You're almost never at full health in the middle of a fight; you'd never get any damage in.
2. You get 2 chances at the special back to back.
A "good", not "rare" or "lucky" first hit with claws would be about 25, which would make the total damage 25 + 12 + 7 + 6 or 50 damage. That's half your maximum life points barring brews (at the time). You get tick to eat as the next attack is coming, so that'd likely be a shark (at the time) for +20 health, then you'd be hit with the second claws spec. Even back to back mediocre hits for something like 20 would do 80 damage in 2 ticks. If you were really sharp you'd get a shark in at switch, so you'd only be down 40hp from where you were, supposing they only get meh hits.

Claws did not have guarenteed damage, only enhanced damage, so unless they had no defense you were not likely going to be seeing high quality hits constantly. 80 damage in 2 hits was not the norm on a properly armored opponent, especially with prayer. You also had access to your own barrage spells so you had guaranteed periods of time where they could not use claws. If you aren't doing anything to handle it you already lost the fight whether they had a DDS or claws because they have the control.
And this is assuming it's 2008 or some shit, because every year more content came out that cockblocked claws. Curses, SOL, Soaking, stronger armor, Disruption Shield, Mushrooms, you name it.

So to sum it up, claws weren't a threat because you should have been an identical pker to your opponent using magic and melee, in BIS gear, with high defence and 99hp, got it. It's my mistake, I forgot that everyone maxed in 2008 and had BIS gear.
I need a minute to go back and edit the history books to remove any traces of high strength high magic pures. Everything you're complaining about here is about ICE BARRAGE. You cannot move, you take constant high damage, it is such an omnipresent threat that it doesn't matter what else the opponent is doing, any of the crap you're saying about switches applies to anything they could pair up with ice barrage. If claws never happened you would still be dead in that situation because they would use another style that would still be fatal to you being a low level player unprepared for high level pvp.

If your familiar glitches and stops existing, you can summon a new one with it to get it and its possessions back. If you summon something without storage/less storage it drops at your feet. Enough people complained about losing items to the disappearing familiar glitch that they put that in as a precaution until they eventually figure out what causes it.
