For those of you that have played Suikoden, is it okay if your generic army units are defeated in battle? Playing through 2 right now, and I have two of those units constantly diving head first to their deaths in the Solon Jhee battle, so I have to keep resetting. I was told to never let ANYONE die in these fights, but I'm not sure if by 'ANYONE' they meant just the unique characters or literally anyone, including the nameless units.

There's less than 10 enemy variation, dungeons looks all the same, unable to save in dungeon even when you need hours to go by it with fears of it went error, items, maps and speed run bugs. Also don't forget disfigured character model bug.

There's a lot of little gripes that are hard to explain, especially if you don't ask about something specific. But that's a sign that a game is overall very decent.
My biggest warning would be to not buy it if you're averse to stress and want to play something relaxing. There's a fine line between "difficult" and "annoying," and it's either in one or the other the entire way. So avoid it if you've never played DRPGs, at least buy DG or emulate EO or something.
Also don't expect too much from the story. I might anger DRPG fans but the genre doesn't do it justice, and it's really more of a background fixture to the gameplay's center stage.

Exclusivity is overrated. It's something that only benefits hardware manufacturers. Gamers should want games to be on as many platforms as possible, so as to avoid vendor lock-in. Honestly, we're in a fucking gamers' paradise right now compared to any other point since the mid-'80s (and I'm old enough to remember).
Besides, it's not like Vita, as a handheld, is in direct competition with PC anyway. Consoles may compete with PC to some degree, but handhelds' only direct competition is from other handhelds and to a lesser extent mobile devices. We're not losing titles to 3DS. When Nep gets ported to iOS/Android, that's when we should worry. Until then, relax and take it easy.

There's certainly a point in handhelds even without exclusivity, because they offer convenience that PC and consoles don't. As I said, there is the potential of competition from mobile, but it has yet to materialize aside from the casual market.
Again, Vita has nothing to fear from PC. People who wait months or years for a game to release on PC weren't going to buy a Vita anyway. Vita vs. PS3/4 is a little more complicated because there's not the time lag, but it's still essentially true. When people choose a console or PC release over the Vita version it's because they don't really care that much about the Vita specifically as a handheld. That's a lifestyle thing, and it's a mistake to try to overcome it by relying on exclusives.
Whether consoles (as opposed to handhelds) have any advantage over PC without exclusives is a topic for another thread.

No, it's the sign of gamers getting shafted and developers getting complacent. What we should want is just barely enough exclusives to keep the hardware makers in business. For everything else, we should hope for multiplat so that consumers have choices and developers can maximize their reach. Then the hardware will have to stand or fall on its own merits, not back-room deals.
