The system is still behind closed doors, but i think that after you do you first ranked game, unranked does not count anymore for your starting MMR.
So you should had played more unranked to get a higher start before your first ranked game.
But that ends up being meangless, i'm sure that the unranked ELO works almost the same way as ranked ELO, so you would need the same amount of matches to climb. Unranked matches would probably be easier.
