Not sure. There was demand for industry so I zoned accordingly. Goods production is exceeding demand now so a lot of factories are being abandoned. RIP blue collar workers.

It's an open source clone of Transport Tycoon, just as OpenTTD is. There were a lot of projects like them in the past, but they've become the two main ones. TTDPatch is also sort of still around, though that's not a clone.

the trick to downtown areas is that you don't want people to drive there.

They should be using mass transit either subways and buses or walking

if you have trains they can be piped in from regional cities and then take buses the rest of the way

You gotta funnel your car traffic better. Think of it like a tree! Big trunk highway, a few large supporting 6 lane branches, some 4 lane branches and a whole fuckload of twig streets. Only have each part connect to one another (twig street shouldn't connect to main 6 lane branches generally).

Seperate projects. TTDPatch is an attempt to add new features to TTD. OpenTTD is an open source clone. That said, the early days of OpenTTD were largely spent trying to catch up to TTDPatch in terms of features. These days OpenTTD is miles ahead because it's not held back by the old engine.

The more I play CSL the more I appreciate SC4

SC4 feels like a real city, you have to start with the dirty and cheap power and industry then slowly increase land value and education to move away from dirty industry. In CSL you can just start with clean energy and put your industry right out of the way.

The zones actually felt like they were based on income in SC4, low income houses were small and run down, high income houses were neat and luxurious same with industry and commerce. All the houses in CSL feel exactly the same, bland.

I'm just saying I'm dissatisfied with how they handle zoning and the general configuration for assets...

First there isn't no mid density, so no average 4~8 floors buildings we loved so much on other games.
Even the Euro theme that actually looks pretty good, is only for high density, the result is that you low density neighborhoods looks just as bland as normal, and you can't have sky scrapers while playing on a euro "biome".

Each building asset can only be on a specific level for certain zone, so to have variation they had a lot of bland models, that in the end didn't achieve variation and still took up lot of memory space...( you could for example have a same model that fits more spaces and more levels).

And finally the bad decisions to have 'leisure' and 'tourism' as separate zones, as far as we know commerce is all the same, commerce for leisure, shops, restaurants, hotels, and what have you...

To tell you the truth even Simcity 2013 had better economy than CSL
you need offices for the industry, that needs to produce goods to be sold on commerces... all the while going parallel with resource industry.

Simcity had a good design, but was shat all over due to EA management...

The original owner had to use the wall as prop (which has no lod), he asked me to see if I could make the asset from the model.
However the model is kind offset from the origin point, which makes it working in the editor difficult... all it needs to be done is adjust the origin/offset

those are all the same street, but left I use the road skin mod to use park lamps as lights..
