The GameCube game is still my favorite in a lot of ways. My ideal AC game would be villages and dialogue like the first game but with all the customization of NL and HHD. Imagine if you had a huge village with cliffs and 15 villagers and you could build like 45 PWP's. It would be awesome.

New Leaf actually has some nice homages to the first game, e.g. the return of the train system, but nothing compares to the first game in terms of its funny dialogue and massive villages. The other day my brother was playing and Doc asked him if he had gotten fatter, that's the type of offbeat humor that makes that game so funny.

My problem with Graham was that he always repeated the same sentence and same jokes and that's literally all he is, he was fun to hang out with in the beginning but it got stale pretty quickly, now I'm not sure if this is just my confirmational bias that I got when I first had him in my town.
The others I just never liked, I don't actually dislike villagers and have fun with everyone with these it just doesn't work for me at least.

Nope. Only tip I know is to fill your inventory with flowers, so they won't ask to buy or sell you anything. Perhaps also trap a villager of the personality that you want on the beach, for easy access.

Only the rarest island bugs sell for that much, most of them sit around the 6000-8000 price range.
Plus, as the other anon said, there are ways to make a ton more money than island bugs, but the island is still the best "every day" way to make bells.

Okay, so I decided to actually give your town a chance and I'm going to critique you but I don't want the bells you offered. Mainly because I actually liked it.
But here's the thing though... First off I think you know that your town isn't done. You only need like four or five more bushes and maybe do a little more gardening to be done though so I don't see why you didn't just wait. But I get a WIP wanting advice, but there's not much that advice can do when you're practically done.
The town itself.. the outside does not look like a spooky town, other than being super early and the music the game gives you anyways. I do kind of like how it seems you did that on purpose though.
I loved the first house, perfectly creepy as far as music you have playing and the little subtle things, like the cameras hidden in creepy places. My only complaint with the first house is that the message about the basement in the girl's room is hard to catch and I only saw it after coming back up from the basement when I felt I was missing something. But it really wouldn't be a good idea to have the message all out in the open either so I'm not sure what you should do with that.
The second house I was not prepared for. I did not think based off the first house that each one would literally play into each other. Which I love. The outside getting more and more decrepit and the inside coming apart house by house. Static on the TVs is always a nice touch, so was the villagers catch phrases and the strollers throughout some of their houses.
The third house is only impressive because of how you transitioned the basement between what she thought she saw when she 'took a peek' and what was actually there. Also, the dad calling out for his wife and daughter and then having all the music playing being the 'I Love You' song was pretty cool. Otherwise, the third house seems kind of like an extra add on..

The fourth house I thought was a great addition. It kind of gave a little justice to the whole thing, and I thought was an interesting way to sum it up. I've also never seen anyone use the stone PWP as a grave marker, that was pretty cool.
I'm not going to look up the fortune cookie and I don't think anyone will, so there's no point in having it buried if you were trying to end with a specific message.
All in all I give it a 8/10. You really just need to trim it up a bit, finish it. But I like the story. It's the first time I've seen anyone do anything with perversion.

If you do decide to start over, you can use plot resetting to guarantee you solitude. Just start a new character, rush through the opening dialogue, and then take a look at your village as soon as you get there, before your house is built. Look for the new plot. If it's in a good spot, continue to play the game until you can build your house (or your tent, more accurately), then save, quit, kill that character, and play as normal. The villager's house will stay in the same spot.
If you dislike the location, simply quit without saving, and try again. The villager will reset in the process.
Very useful, but try not to get too obsessed with resetting. It can spoil the fun, I think.

A timer pops up during hide-and-seek regardless of whether or not you have a timer. Most people really only use it to time out the diving trick for getting pings. So, unless you're doing that, don't bother.

A good amount of then is needed to have a perfect town, but I don't think villagers will comment on it directly.

Pines can be decorated around Christmas, which, while adorable, has no real gameplay effect.
They might have different bug spawns, but I don't actually know. Can anyone else confirm or deny?

You certainly can, but do keep about 10-15 normal ones so you can get your furniture, bells, and bees for the day.
