I know it's cool to make fun of and think the worst of WG, but even this is overdoing it. None of the ships in game have as drastically altered designs. If I play a cruiser destroyers never show themselves to me even if I take stupid routes along destroyer alley.

But tovarisch, the average WR amongst all players is something like 48%. Before patch 0.4.0, something like 10% of battles would have ended up in draws because of BBs and CVs surfing the blue line, so it wasn't rare to have most people sitting at 42% WR. The statistical average has only gotten better, because Wargaming got rid of draws by having the two-base point system instead.

I don't think you understand, getting 50% WR was next to impossible previously, unless you were unicum.

Before one of the patches a few months back, non-domination matches could have only been won in two ways: killing all enemy ships, or capturing the enemy base. There were plenty of battles that ended up in a draw, because one surviving enemy ship managed to sail to the other corner of the map, and people couldn't catch up to them in time, even though they outnumbered them 10 to 1.

They only recently changed it so that for two-base battles, killing enemy ships adds points to your team, and once the battle timer runs out, the team with the most points wins. Hence, before the patch, most "good" players had something similar to a 45% win rate, 15% draw rate, and 40% loss rate.

I'm actually far too lazy to install mods.

In all seriousness, that (relatively shallow) increase in damage was because I was grinding the Kongo and Myoko missions hardcore in my Mogami in which I averaging more than 62K damage a game. Probably played like 150 games in her over the past week.

The spike in xp was because I bought polanbote and got 7 days of premium with it and for some reason, WG doesn't normalize your xp to base xp.

Aim assist really doesn't benefit you THAT much, any ship can EASILY avoid most shells from more than 10km away due to how long shell travel time is, and if you are within less than 10km, neither party should be missing in the first place for aim assist to matter. All it does is make the process of you figuring out ship trajectories slightly faster.

The cheatiest thing about the aim assist mod is probably the fact it gives you a ships exact speed so you know exactly what its about to do, like stopping or reversing, and it tells you when a ship is turning, so you can aim ahead of it in anticipation.

T8 is pretty suffering if you have to fight battleships instead of laughing as +2 cruisers underestimate you and get deleted.

Best way I found was no angling bow forward 1/2 speed and load HE. They can't citadel you from the front, but superstructure damage will hurt a lot while theirs bounce your AP.

You can almost delete a north car or tirpitz with AP if they get cocky at close range though.

Actually fighting things is fine, it's just when I spend all of 40 seconds of a game with ships in my gun range and then spend literally the next 15 minutes chasing the entire enemy team into the corner of a map without being able to fire a shot at them that I just want to shoot myself.
My US BB memories of never getting to fight anything are all coming back. Guess it's time to be a good goy and just grind out some free XP on my jap BBs.

As for the gun range, 17.1 is pretty big, but the tier 8 BB's out range you and are faster, that's why fighting them if they don't want to fight you is suffering. Once you get the first hull you'll get a spotter plane that can increase your range to somewhere about 21km.

You still have to play differently than IJN though, even with the range boost. It took a little bit to get used to but I learned the best way in the new york.

Where IJN BB's are more reactive, USN are proactive. While IJN may go around an island to get a shot on someone, USN wants to go straight into them. IJN wants to set up firing angles from decent ranges on where the enemy will be going, USN wants to set up directly in their path. Frequently this results in you fighting enemies heavily out-numbered but those battles are the battles where I come out with 150k+ damage in my mexican as I don't have to travel across the entire map.

Nerf Torps. Seriously torps are the biggest problem in WoW right now. They encourage BB players, cause they can group up and hide in the back to avoid dd players, and torps being soooo powerful (and really to fast reload time, should 5+ min) dd players can do massive dmg with them. CA's get caught in the middle. They dont have the guns/range to duke it out as part of the battle like at 20 km with the BB's (also dont have the armor to survive it) and up close they get wrecked by torps. Nerf torps (either with reload or have them do 10% the dmg they do) and CA would come back in a helluva way.

Then why do BB's have a 30 sec reload? Or CA's have a 15 sec reload? Cause its realistic right? Well that's the big problem with CA's, is that their slow reloads (at high tier) makes it more or less impossible to properly deal with DD's. If, and I strongly disagree with this but it *is* how it seems to work is;
DD>BB/DD
BB>BBs/CA
CV>BB's/CV's
CA>DD's/CV's (insofar as better AA)

The last one though is barely true, as CA's seldom seem to prioritize dd's because the long 15 sec reload, coupled with torp spam at high tiers, makes them not worth the shot (I can put some AP into a BB and do 2x the damage and guarantee a hit rather than a DD) If you want CA's to fill their 'role' of countering DD's, either they need to have a much lower reload rate, like 7-8 ish sec, or RAISE DD torp reload to 5+ min so that getting in close to guarantee hits is less suicidal than it is now. This is the main reason that CA's dont play much at High tier, cause its BB death at range, or torp death at knife fight range. I say this as someone with the Zao and the DM, and playing as them is a pain because of this dynamic. And why do DD's get a special unrealistic reload when BB's and CA's dont? Torp launchers took upwards of 10-15 min to reload in reality, meanwhile yes, indeed, it was ~15 sec for a CA and ~30 sec for a BB. So why do the BB's and CA's get 'real' reloads and DD's get ANOTHER advantage in this game on top of all the other advantages they get.

DD's are not supposed to be a counter to a Battleship. Historically they were used as AA platforms, ASW, and area of denial with torpedo (forcing an enemy to turn away to cover your escape; see: Battle of Jutland) They were *not* used to destroy battleships or cruisers. Obviously WG wanted a 4th class and instead of breaking up CL's and CA's from the go, they added DD's, and had to invent a bunch of mechanics to give them alot of advantages to make them competitive with the other classes, but consequently it miss balanced the rolls of the other classes of ships.

No it wouldn't. Because I dont do this with the DM which has a faster ROF than most DD's at high tier. I tend to focus on DD (if I can) and other CA's. While yeah I can do alot of dmg to a BB, they will always beat my DPS with their tankiness. You raise the ROF on other High Tier CA's they would probably end up being played the same way. Alot of Cruiser knife fights, and make DD's a bit more cautious and sneaky they tend to be now.

'If I ran the zoo' I wouldn't nerf torp dmg, they should be deadily and it makes sense they are. What I would nerf is their reload speed for DD's. See the advantage that *should* be inherent to a plane dropped torp is that it's dropped at the 'perfect range/angle' whereas a ship launched torp will likely have to sacrifice a bit of both due to both ships moving (relatively) similar speeds. Right now though, due to reload speeds, that's not true, DD's can sit in the invis space and spam a full spreed of torps every 2 or so minutes and yes, MOST miss, but if even one hits, it can do 5k-15k dmg. And this is all where the player recieiving the hit can't do really anything about it, since you can't see torps at all ranges, can't see when their launched, and of course, have little recourse against the firer. For a CV this isn't how it works, since they can launch them "perfectly," so even a longer reload should effect this. That said, CV's should have way better torp drops and, the simpliest way to make them balanced, is to allow ALL CV's, even straight from Tier IV, have 2-4 Torp squads in the air at once, as opposed to 1 or 2 at best.

Hey balance goes both ways, you raise CA's ROF you gotta make it functionally impossible to invis-a-fire. But it does let them fill their roll of DD sceening and CA defense. As it stands right now CA's don't really have a role. That's why you see them kinda doing a bit of everything; some sitting with bb's and shelling at range, some rushing for knife fights, some trying to do torp runs (where applicable) and some screening. Problem is, current balance doesn't allow them to be particularly good at any of these things. That's why the Balt and Ibuk are so shit at their tiers. They're 'role' isn't something they can actually try to do, so they end up trying to be jack of all trades, master of none, which is *not* what a CA is supposed to do.

Atlanta's a CL and arguably was designed as just a giant DD. And with the way people play it in game, it is basically just a giant DD. And the Atlanta's reload is realistic. It's actually not to be fair. It should be faster. At fastest fireing contionts (not sustainable for more than a few minutes) they should shoot around 12-15 RPM.

It's not even just that, it's that because of the agility of DD (which they *should* have) coupled with the slow reload on CA guns, and THEN add in the relatively fast reload on Torps, and you have a situation where I, in a CA, try to get close in to deal with a dd (because likelhood is, assuming *he* has skill, will dodge any shots fired at 10+ km, which, again, they should and should be able to) but if I get close, I'm guarenteeing to get a full torp burst sent my way, but even if I managed to dodge all of them, in a minute or so I get ANOTHER full one, forgetting that 1 hit from these can be half my health while 1 hit from my guns might not even DO dmg pending on where it hits. You raise ROF for CA's, or drop ROF for DD torps, now when I get close in a CA dodging becomes less useful and productive/kill them faster/they can't kill me.

Basically problem is, most types in this game have a hard counter, the CA isn't a hard counter for anyone, and it should be, and it should be for DD's.

No offense but I'm mostly talking about tiers 8 9 and 10. Below tier 8, skill comes into MUCH greater play in outcome of a fight, because most of the ships kinda handle similar (how much difference is their between a Omaha and an equal tier DD? Really just power of the individual shots and size but playstyle is VERY similar)

At high tier, the equipment the player is using comes more into play. The best player put into a Balt isn't going to EVER do as well as even bad player in Zao. The player's skill isn't as much of a factor and hence it's a balance issue at high tier.

It's not the tier difference, it's the difference in equipment. The Mog and the NO are the same tier at 8, and the Mog is *way* better, in basically every way (IMO the NO is overtiered by at least 2 levels). Everyone pretty much agrees the Yam is way better than the Montana, and their at the same tier. It's a quality of equipment issue, not a individual player issue. This becomes *very* noticeable when you switch lines of nations. I went all the way up both the CA and BB lines in the USN and got pretty good with them, but still had a bunch of issues (most of which pertain to accuracy of the guns and dmg compared to other nation's ships). I prefer CA's and so went up the German CA tree and wtf? They are unbelievably better. And having gone through the USN has made me MUCH better in the German CA's since it basically tightens up all the problems that the USN CA's have, but despite this, when I got up the Hind in the German line, it was *better* than the DM, but not in it's role. Basically what I'm saying is the Hind vs. a DM I Know I can wipe the floor with the DM, but the Hind vs. doing it's role, is a still a problem. That's why I think all CA's need one helluva buff. For flavor sake I'd do this:

USN gets dmg control that's equal to that of a BB's but faster reload (USN was very well known for DMG control)
Germans need a helluva ROF upgrade since they're poor rudders make them very serious DD bait
Jap boats need better torp protection, since they brawl well, but brawling with a DD is suicide most of the time (even if you kill him 9/10 death torps nail ya).

Alternatively, I'd give all CA's control of their secondary batteries. For one, that's the American CA design outlook in WWII, that's why all the USN CA's have dramatically larger Secondary arms than other nations. Give control of them and it makes up for the lack of torps (and assume they are equal in ability to how they play n DD's/Atlanta). Likewise on the other CA's it allows them to properlly deal with DD's without having to alter DD reload rates for torps. It's really something that should be in game, secondary batteries are very vital in ship design and played roles in battles.

I use it and desu it doesn't help as much as you think. The speed indicator is more useful. About the only class I found it helps on is DD's, just cause their shots are hard to dodge. On a BB its a liability I find cause I'll often look at the aim point as opposed to the boat, and not pay attention to if it's gona move soon or something. That said, if my target is moving at a CS&B, I can more or less guarantee at least one Cit at most angles but at high tier that's rarely what happens anyway. So I'd say try it, see if you like it, but desu I'd trade the aim indicator for just the speed indactor.
