So I was playing a spellslinger till I got to a part where I had to do fragment zero. After killing a few mobs I realized this class was kinda boring. What are some more fun classes? Or is spellslinger already up there?

You're not getting slinger's full potential in fragment zero, any class is boring there.
Slinger gets a shitton better when you get the GA runeset, before that it's decent but nothing special.

Well, I can't post them all at once, but I can tell you where you CAN find them. Search up "wildstar artifact weapons" and you'll find them all in the first reddit post.

Is this game decently populated? How fun are tanks? What are the tanking classes like?

General might not prove otherwise, but the population is pretty okay. Dominion's less populated than Exile, but you'd still find people there.
Tanks are pretty okay. Warrior tank is the usual "get in their face and just hit them a whole bunch". Engineer tank has you stand still more, but you're able to buffer most things with absorbs and shield restoration. Stalker tank requires more dodging because you have less armor, but you do have a few methods to cheat death if you need to.

Latest major things I remember them adding was that Initialization Core thing that no one does, and Bay of Betrayal which no one should ever do. Other than that, it's just seasonal event things.

Initialization Core is supposedly a mini-raid (think Onyxia) that would go between GA and DS. Except when you're geared and runed in GA gear, you just go straight to DS. It doesn't hurt to do the Core, but it's mostly not worth the trouble.
Bay of Betrayal will find many ways to kill you, all because of its difficulty. It's essentially a 5-man raid in terms of how much coordination you need between yourself and your group. Don't expect a clear in the first try. Don't expect it in the tenth.It also scales with how many times you clear it. You will die many times on the EASIEST setting.

The population has gotten so low that I can recognize most people I see in town now. If the 40 most active players suddenly quit on entity, dominion, it'd probably be a ghost town.
