Attila is an unoptimized mess, try this launcher fix to try and improve performance.
Launch Rome 2 then launch Attila instead from the Total War launcher. FPS can increase anywhere between 1 to 25.

You can BARELY make out the zone of control in this pic if you strain your eyes to the point of getting cross-eyed (no fucking idea why my game doesn't show the fiery border I've seen in youtube videos) it honestly looks like they shouldn't be able to bypass the city, which would make sense.

19 turns into my first ERE campaign in Attila and I've only been attacked by the visigoths. I lost Macedon because shitty public order but got it back in a few turns. Other than that the huns, vandals, ostrogoths, and alans have all paid me for peace or non aggression pacts while the WRE throws tons of cash at me to fight barbarians I am nowhere near. All the African barbarian factions are warring with each other and have also paid me not to fight them. I've had a good amount of time now to build up my armies and I plan to attack the Sassanids soon once I have another stack or two.

Feeling extremely lucky. This never happens.
>>
>>127086095
Yes, the last few A-Listers we've got are the only people who can convince Jew producers to green-light riskier movies, like historical ones. The fall of the blockbuster actor is another blow against every movie that isn't immediate-billions capeshit.

Alright I'm playing WRE hard. its 414. I fell back to a defensive position. shored up my public order and economy and now I can push forward again. I Just retook Lugdunesis and Dalmatia. both represent my furthest borders both northwards and eastwards.

Constantinopolis has fallen to the visigoths and the eastern roman empire is reduced to Ancyra.

Should i potentially spread myself too thin by trying to retake the eastern capital or should I just hold firm and prepare for the coming storm?
>>
>>127096519
If you want to retake Constantinople you should do it slowly. I've been playing WRE on Legendary and trying to reclaim things too fast has led to me wasting tens of thousands of talents.

I'm interested in what your maps looks like, but regardless I'd say you'll want to secure Macedonia, Dardania and one or both of Crete and Rhodes. Securing naval control and the western border of Thrace is crucial to preventing Constantinople from being isolated.

If you're in doubt, preparing for the storm is a good option. You'll want to be ready for the Huns.
>>
>>127097972
The huns attacked me about 6 years prior, they invaded my lands and were just raiding and around Ravenna and mediolanum. I wasn't stupid and put a another stack there along with my already 2 full stacks. Eventually they attacked and I massacred them. but I've been at war with them since and have yet to see them again.
>>
>>127098185
That's about the same as what happened in my game, although I ended losing almost all of Italy before taking it back. The Huns eventually left and burned down everything east of Germany. Then Attila came of age and they gradually returned. I fortified the towns with walls and have strong stacks defending them; they're pretty adverse to laying siege against such strong defense. It's just a waiting game while I try to build up my economy and make sure no one else can cause any problems.

Differnt poster here, also playing WRE on VH, currently in 405 ad. I just completely smashed the Huns in Aquileia, killed 4 of their 5 stacks, the last one retreated too deep into Germany for me to pursue, now I'm in a comfort zone being able to send stacks to Britain to punish the Celts and I already finished off the N African fuckers. Am I too confident with my victory over the Huns? They don't really seem THAT menacing, but will this change dramatically when Attila comes of age?

What was the idea of those light chariots?
Did they just act as mobile platforms to hurl javelins at the enemy or were they used for charging as well?

I can only imagine how hard those things would be to maneuver in any terrain except for a cleared grassland or plains.
>>
>>127115609
They inflicted fear on the enemy as well as being a mobile platform to hurl missiles from. Once the missiles were exhausted the warrior would dismount and fight on foot.

The way Mediterranean warfare developed is that it started out like the Celtic and Germanic way of fighting individual heroes and small scale skirmishes, then some general or king changed that to get edge over his adversaries and in time that developed in to the greek and roman tactics we know today.

Is Atilla worth getting? 32 Britbucks is more than I'd usually be willing to pay for something with such mixed reviews, but folks here seem to enjoy it. Which DLCs, if any, should I ditch? I'm thinking of avoiding the Charlemagne campaign pack for now since it's not reduced. Or should I just not bother with the game at all?

What is the most effective way to fight those cunts in Call Of Warhammer? They seem to be almost immune to arrows and bullets, they completely wreck any defensive formations of spear men or haleberdiers, sending swordsmen or greatswords at them seem like a suicide.

I doubt it just increases performance for everyone because it's just some vram issue, but for me it made the unplayable game completely fine and if I gave up on fixing it 5 minutes earlier it would just be money wasted and I wouldn't touch it anymore. Even in that, there are tiers. Germans were the most organized, having spear walls and distinction between line infantry and flanking infantry. At the opposite end, Belgae were the most heroic and least organized, everyone was a guy charging an enemy host in some capacity.

In a shield wall situation, most were merely injured and then pulled back through the lines, death isnt as common during battles as movies would lead you to believe, most death happened after the lines broke, not during the engagement

"And i saw in his hand a book sealed with seven seals the first of which was broken.
And behold a white horse; and he that sat on him had a bow; and he went forth to conquer..."
>>
>>127129695
Always found 4 horsemen pretty stupid. War and conquest are pretty much the same thing and then death is completely redundant with the other 3. Each one should be unique. St John, watch some power rangers for reference or something.
>>
>>127130113
They aren't given the names of War, Conquest, Famine and Death though, are they? That's just what later people call them iirc
>>
>>127130113
>>127130193
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
>>
>>127130113
>>127130193

Death is the only one that is named in the text.

Some interpret the horsemen as the history of the Empire. White Rider is the expansion and prosperity, Red Rider is civil wars and discord in the empire. Black is the governmental oppression in the empire and Ashen is it's death.

They had always been the terror of the ancient world, even before the Huns or Mongols, steppe tribes were fucking scary. Imagine being a roman soldier living in Rome and then meeting a group of people that live in the worst environment on the planet, practically live on horses and can hit an apple off someone's head with an arrow while galloping at full speed. Theyre savage, terrifying men bred to view themselves as a pack of lions circling around herd animals-civilized people- and running them down like animals.

We dont need god to create myths centered around the scariest people on the planet. The crazy religious fear of horsemen stems from the fact that true horsefuckers are really fucking scary, simple as that

Then they retreated to Germany and came back when I had lvl 3 garrison in Aquileia and 1 fullstack.

The horsefuckers have been fucking with china for thousands of years before anyone from the west got a real taste of them. China's entire history is molded by their fear of horsefuckers. Their entire culture has lived for 99% of its lifespan in feat of invasion. Their armies were the largest and most advanced in the world, the arbiters of civilization in the direct threat of the most effective armies on the planet. Europeans became dominant during the gunpowder era because they had to fight each other all the time. China was so strong because they had to fight horsefuckers all the time. They were always the biggest threat, even China, which dwarfed even the HRE or any Muslim kingsom, could not contain them for long.
