it's alright... my english is falling apart from lack of sleep anyway. my issue is, if you follow the quests you are given without fucking around... you are defrosted, slap a few roaches, maybe hit a couple of bees. then you fight some more oversized critters... then you are suddenly fighting a large group of experienced raiders... then you hop into a suit of power armor and fight a deathclaw. even a small bit of thought can make you say, "wtf" if you just take the game at face value. if you think further you can start making up your own backstory why this is reasonable. my point is you have to reach for an explanation of nora doing this to make sense of it. for nate it's completely believable. beth should have just made them both ex military.

So after much dallying, I finallygot to the Institute, met father myself, had a tour... Then went berserk and killed everyone but the cute doctor who wanted to make the relay into a shrink Ray and the plasma guns.
Elder Maxon then proceeded to rip me out about Dr. Li who my character had no fucking clue about. (And to be honest, I keep thinking doctor Amari is the BoS runaway)
I just couldn't help but think that Bethesda really needed to work on their scripts and account for the possibility someone would wipe out the Institute first chance they got without even talking to Maxson about having a way in.

There was this one thread on Nexus where it was just a bunch of waifu makers bitching about Trainwiz, you needed at least 1000 endorsements on your mods altogether to see this forum topic too, so it was some kind of SEKRIT KLUB shitpost place about Trainwiz (he was banned at the time for saying some persons waifus looked like aliens)

It should also be noted that guns are the great equalizer, and upper body strength doesn't count for much when bullets are involved.

I've played indie RPG's where if you're up against a knight or golem or other heavily armoured enemy you better whip out a warhammer because a sword has such massive damage reduction vs armour that you might as well jump in a spike trap to end it all.

It's not the upper body strength per se but the major difference in the average physiology between genders. Combat isn't just shooting, and going by averages, men beat women by significant margin when it comes to to the physicality of it.
That's not to say women shouldn't be allowed to serve or that they can't "kick ass", but it does create some issues here and there when very few women can actually meet the physical standards usually required for men in infantry roles.

Question: What are the most OP Weapon/Legendary Affects you've found.
I found a raider wielding an irradiated minigun. I had to fucking burn through 5 rad aways and pop a Rad-X to survive that fucking fight. After I got it it was one of the most leathal weapons I could use against non PA humans.
Then I found wounding mingun. Which killed things so fast it was not even funny.

hello my friends, i got fallout 4 as a gift, and having not played the fallout games before and just getting it for free, i decided not to waste it. im about like, 14-20 hours in? just finished the quest where you kill kellog.
im having lots of fun right now, and i find the game very atmospheric, huge addicting, savaging items and stuff, its makes me feel like mad max. however, from observation a lot of fans think this is the worst game.
how better are the other games? like 3 and NV. also, it seems that the perks and other "roleplaying" aspects like the Charisma stat only seem to make the game easier or harder instead of having different unique situations, whats this the case in previous games?

159 fire rate and 272 don't tell me a lot about what a guns DPS is.
So if a gun showed that it fired 60 bullets a second, multiply that by its damage and you've got a general idea of how much damage it does per second...

That's precisely why I enjoy them so much. I don't mind that I can kill Super Mutants with my bare hands or punch a guy in power armor so hard his breastplate explodes in one shot, because that's the sort of thing that appeals to me.
I like realism too but I enjoy the fact that I can swap between playing in what feels like an extreme survival situation where if I don't properly ration my ammunition and meds, I'm dead, and being all balls to the wall insane running through gunfire just to smack people upside the head so hard they explode.

Here's how you can do it yourself in a few minutes, download these first:

https://github.com/jonwd7/nifskope/releases/tag/v2.0.dev4 (Install this to edit .nif files)
1) Run BAE and open your "textures1-9" files, and extract the combat shotgun weapon textures
2) Run NifSkope as an administrator, and open the Chinese AR .nif file in your /data folder
3) Scroll through the nodes on the left until you find your textures node, you will see two files that can be replaced with the .dds files you extracted earlier
4) Pick any combatshotgun_d.dds file you like for the top texture file and a combatshotgun_n.dds (these files must match, or your AR will be pink. For example if you use the receiver_d texture make sure you use the receiver_n filefile for the bottom texture file)
5) File > save in NifSkope then load into the game to try it out, type "help chinese 0" in console and "player.additem" the weapon ID

Think of Fo4 as an hiking simulator. The other games feel more like RPGs with choice & consenquence and less repetitive quests
In NV for example your experience changes depending on what stats (attributes perks traits skills) you pick
You get a huge amount of different options during dialogue or in quests
That's less the case in Fo3 and Bethesda just cut most of the options the player had in 4

It's pretty much a skeleton for mods. Bethesda tried too many things at once, the new dialogue system, the settlement mechanics, the voiced protagonist... too much time and effort diverted at gimmicks.
Fallout 4 could probably have been a great game with mediocre story if it was only settlements that was added and the funds for the voice actors went into making better sidequests. Say whatever you want about Fallout 3, it was the sidequests and the environment that made it popular.

Every Trainwiz story mod not named Bhruce Hammar, Wyrmstooth, Falskaar, the incoming Rise of Mannimarco, most people playing Skyrim probably don't advance into the main quest after they get to Shout, because there's so much good shit to do instead.
Fallout 4's empty and dull, and the voiced Protag might scare off some modders. It'll take many more quest mods and Interesting NPCs-tier mods to give life to this Frankensteinian mess

The power armor at the start is pretty similar to what I was considering doing, but better. I was only planning on removing the deathclaw, doing something to make the power armor at the start break, and the minigun out of ammo. Pulling it all out entirely seems smarter.
You may also want to do something with the main quest as well, The baby is too ingrained to make a full on alternate start mod, but removing the veteran and lawyer histories and only saying "they're married and have a kid" would be a start.

Actually, running a script that forces all the power armor pieces to break upon finishing the quest (Would be cool if someone made "broken pieces" meshes instead of just unnequipping them), which would force the player to repair the Power Armor, which would be much more resource and perk intensive given the vastly increased health of the pieces (repairing the T-45 alone would require perk 2 of science, 1 of armorer and a shitton of resources).
It would give the player a goal and an early taste of power, and it would have been much easier than rewritting and rescripting an entire quest

OCdecorator is great for stuff like plates, forks, toasters etc, small inventory items that usually you can't anchor down
Homemaker has a lot of good stuff for clutter in interior decorations and warehouses, and some misc stuff like cardboard boxes that you can move and barrels you can move.
home maker also has fire barrels and lanterns in misc lights, which are really nice as they have a warm 'mood' to their light
snap and build greenhouse is also handy for the interior door ways and windows and such.
There's some misc building mods too that stuff like half walls, plywood etc.
All of this is basically how I build. I also try to take inspiration from fallout and 2, from places like Junktown and modoc

Splitting initial faction overhauls into modules is a good idea, so if someone wants your alterations to the BoS, but they think your vision of the minutecucks is a shit, they don't have to run both.
The main issue with this is any endgame content that ties new or modified plot threads together.
I would like to see expanded minutemen content, even if it is just background stuff. for example: slightly increased minutemen spawns in the commonwealth tied to number of settlements. A hostel/camp workshop item that minutemen spawns will move to in settlements. Fought a Ghoul Raider commander while he was knee-deep in irradiated water. He was slowly healing, enough that it made him more challenging than normal.

Add an NPC lieutenant/comms guy that would need to be voiced. He can direct the PC to a Diamond City style mercenary noteboard for the "enter building, kill these guys" style quests. Actually talking to the guy will unlock "urgent" quests with a time limit, such as kidnappings.
It's not ideal and would require a VA, but it would cut out the annoying Preston interrupts.
