More customization, your character feels more unique rather than the cookie cutter build of D3, finding items is more satisfying, you can add components (like gems only a lot more creative) AND augments to gear for gear variety, dungeouns are actually challenging as well as higher difficulties.
Class customization is pretty neat to, you can combine any 2 of the 6 classes and choose from a large variety of skills which you can ALSO customize with the Constellation tree, which is a unique stat map

in early game why does Arcanist feel so underpowered? AAR does some good solo damage but the class is squishy (unless you bump up phys or go Battlemage) and CC options are kinda meh compared to Demo or even Occultist sometimes. Does it get better with good gear?
