Right now I'm playing on the trial using a shitty display model computer I got from best buy back in late 2009 - early 2010. If I put every graphical option to as low as it can go I can a steady 35 - 40 frames. Does anyone know what upgrades I should to get to have the game run at decent frames with at least some average graphics?
It's got an Intel Core i5 2390t processor, an Intel H61 motherboard, an AMD Radeon HD 6450 graphics card, and 8gbs of RAM and a 300w power supply.
I know it's a piece of shit but I've never been a computer guy and I only got so I can use it for typical shit like schoolwork and porn.

FFXIV is mediocre at best, but the competition is an absolute joke.
Every time I attempt to play another MMO, I'm immediately disgusted by the complete lack of depth. Every single one of them just feels like a completely linear quest grind that leads to a dead endgame, with no side content at all. Compared to that, XIV almost feels like an open world sandbox.
At least this game actually has things like FATEs and sidequest lines, and a semi-useful crafting system, and lore that isn't completely generic fantasy garbage. It's not great by any means, but trying to play other games shows you just how much worse it could be.
Not to mention the complete lack of basic features that should be standard in every MMO by now. Things like having race/gender locked classes or meaningful stat/ability differences based on race/gender, not being able to play all classes on a single character, not having proper controller support, etc. should be unacceptable in modern times. XIV may fuck up a lot of big things, but it gets so many of the little details right.
The point is that XIV may be shit, but everything else is even shittier, and there's no sign of that changing anytime soon.

It's legit during dungeons to just use the LB gauge whenever it fills. For Ranged, if there are at least 2 targets I'm pretty sure it's already as strong/stronger than melee LB anyway, and it saves you just as much if not more time on Trash than it does on Bosses.

GW2 was fun because you could just walk around and do whatever without being forced to follow the main quest. It's dynamic events were also much better and more complete feeling than FATEs, which just seem like a cheap knockoff.
Aside from that though, GW2 just lacked any real depth. The classes were so simplistic that they make XIV's look deep and complex. The developer's "no trinity" idea basically translated into no specialization allowed. Even if you wanted to play a healing/support oriented character, there was just no way to do it. You could add a bit of support with some builds (i.e. healing shout warrior/alt healing guardian), but everyone was still primarily a DPS and nothing you do could make a dramatic difference otherwise.
On top of that, the only thing you could really do in the game was level. So once you hit max level it was just time to make another character and grind some more. The entire game was like playing only DPS characters in XIV and doing nothing but FATE grinding.
As for Tera, I didn't play it past the free trial they did before it went F2P, but I could already tell it was the same Korean trash I've seen a hundred times over. The entire world felt dead, with it's only purpose being an area for you to grind through a giant fetch quest chain. It's attempt at controller support was a bad joke, as was it's promise of "true action combat".
Korean games as a whole are like ugly girls in too much makeup. They try to hype them up with a pretty exterior, but it's not hard to see past it. Tried Blade & Soul too, and it's the exact same shit as Tera.

I think this is a matter of what the player is looking for in a game. I would argue that Guild Wars 2's professions are easier to grasp than a rotation for thirty-six skills (and counting). More skills aren't better, but I'd say fewer skills provokes more thought.

In XIV you don't "specialize", you ARE. In Guild Wars 2 you can specialize. If I wanna be a Necromancer healer than the option is open to me.

I am the owner of a healer character. Where people would normally become Downed or a boss would avoid a necessary mechanic, I keep that player alive and sustain myself through heavy damage to make that boss vulnerable. People being primarily DPS is the meta, the game is perfectly playable without being DPS.

No, choices do not add depth if they don't do anything. All weapons/classes in GW2 play the same. The differences between them are like the differences between the DPS classes in XIV. They all perform the same function, just in different ways.

The number of skills isn't the issue, it's what the skills actually do.
I loved the original Guild Wars cause it's skills had wild and varying effects, and you could pick any 8 skill you wanted to make a unique build. With the right skill combos, your build could seem crazily overpowered in some ways, but there were always some other builds/strategies that could counter it.
But GW2 is the complete opposite. None of it's skills have any dramatic effects. Everything is either plain damage, or support/control effects that are too weak to really matter.

In GW2 the idea of being a "healer" just means using 2 or 3 abilites that restore a tiny amount of HP and have a long cooldown. There's no way to focus entirely on healing or support, because the classes are designed to make that impossible. The closest you can get is the equivalent of playing BRD/MCH in XIV.
In the original Guild Wars, what you're suggesting was possible. And in XIV, there are classes specifically designed to play that way. But in GW2, true "healers" don't exist.

I did that and got my ass whooped. You have to put around the same focus of thought into your skills for Guild Wars as you do Guild Wars 2. But playing with anyone else in Guild Wars, you were required to have an establish build and content was way more punishing so you didn't come across groups lax enough to omit that desire.

Incorrect. I don't know about Necromancer, but I know for damn sure Guardian has the best tools for healing. The way the combat is designed, you cannot apply the exact method of healing from Guild Wars and XIV, overlay it on Guild Wars 2 and say it fails. That's like grading a whale's ability to fly.
Guild Wars 2 has the entire game for me to play at max level, no roleplay required, the zones are not there to level you they are there as content. Everything levels you. The way XIV is designed, there better be stuff to do specifically at max level because otherwise there would be no game.

Just convert your gil into something else you can bring. Materia, or check the MB for those uh allagan pieces worth like 500 each. If you can buy a couple stacks of those and then sell them when you get over to a vendor.
Just make sure if you buy something like Materia they sell for as much or more.

You just described single target and AOE DPS. Every class in XIV except PLD can do both of those things to some degree.
By your logic, XIV's classes have variety and depth because they can choose to play differently in different situations. XIV revolves around GCD abilities, and you can change your playstyle by using different abilities. There isn't a single right way to play each class all the time, it depends on the situation.
On the other hand, GW2's classes all rely primarily on abilities that are on separate cooldowns. This removes any choice in playstyle that you can make other than your talents and weapon choice.

XIV has 3 main playstyles: tank, healer, and DPS
GW2 has only 1, DPS.

Sounds like you don't enjoy variety. I had loads of fun coming up with new build ideas and trying them out. Many of them didn't work as I'd hoped, but that's how you learn something.

And unless things have changed drastically since launch, those tools consist of throwing down a rotation with a lot of blessings and letting Altruistic Healing do the rest.
It's the same way a healing shout warrior just throws out their shouts while attacking as usual.
That's not focusing entirely on healing, not even close. You're still using more offensive abilites than anything else. Show me a setup that uses NOTHING but healing abilities without wasting any time standing still and doing nothing, then I'll believe you.

IIRC, Paragon was pretty broken (in a bad way) and only had like 1 viable build as a result.
I played Necro and loved it. I could make minion master builds, self healing blood absorption builds, high-damage blood sacrifice builds, etc.
Mesmer was my second favorite due to all the different ways it could mess with opponents and counter different situations.
