It's very decent with the quirks it has now. With 20% heatgen it can run a variety of fun energy builds from 2lpl, 2erppc, 5erml, and 5mpl.
Just be sure to play it like a longer range fast medium, because it's a bit too big and slow to be a proper surpriseanal light.

Friends Ive fallen in love with the Thunderbolt. I bought the SS(?) with the 7 Energy hardpoints thinking to emulate the trial version but with bulk medium lasers per its quirks. It will show you're optimal range in the bottom left while in game, if its grey it's entirely out of range, if it's yellow they are out of optimal, if it's green you're good.
Pulse have shorter range than their normal counter parts, but have shorter duration and higher damage than normal for more heat and weight.

Chainfiring is shit. Don't use it.
There is only one time it might potentially be useful, and that's when an opponent's got a cherry red section that'll kill him but he's shielding well so it's very hard to hit. In those cases where a single MPL shot will finish it off, you can chainfire.
Even then, though, fuck it. Just don't chainfire ever. It's so much worse than alphaing and people will laugh at you when they spectate you if they see you chainfiring.

That said, I agree, it does have its uses, they're just few and far between and it's probably easier to just never even consider it especially as a newer player, lest you get into bad habits of using it too much.
Chainfiring SRMs and Streaks is okay when you're riding the heat limit, especially on Mad Dogs where you can't alpha without incurring ghost heat, but even then those 6SRM/SSRM6 builds ought to be alphaing when possible.

If you like the AC10 then I highly suggest trying the UAC5/UAC10 TBR build. The staggered projectiles actually are decent at messing with people's perception, but more important when you're within 300~400m you'll be putting up very nice volleys that should all be landing on the same component. UAC5 and UAC10 have a lot of synergy really.

If your hand is shaky then it sounds like you need to decrease your mouse sensitivity. When I first got back into this game for real I really struggled with finding a good sensitivity level for both steady shooting and snap aim, but once I settled on something I started playing a lot better.

It's for the matchmaking system.
Tiers 5 through 1, 1 being best. It tries to match you with people who are at exactly the same progression on the bar as you are, then slowly expands its parameters. It can search 2 up and 2 down, so Tier 3 can play with everyone but Tier 1 can only play with Tier 3 and 2.
Tier 5 is nothing but shitters who don't know a single thing about the meta and brand new players, Tier 4 is people who run shitty builds, Tier 3 are mediocre players who might have the potential to be okay if they made attempts at self improvement, Tier 2's decent players who know the ins and outs of the game pretty well, and Tier 1 is all meta builds all the time no fun allowed.
It's set up in such a way that as long as you're not braindead you will eventually get to Tier 1 with enough matches played. It could take anywhere from 500 matches if you're a pretty good player to 2000+ if you're just passable.

Jenner IIC isn't actually the end of the world though. It's actually pretty fucking well balanced, the Hunchback too.
The Oxide is easily just as good as the Jenner IIC, and the Firestarter and Cheetah will both dismantle a Jenner in a brawl. Their legs are huge for a light as well.
The Cheetah and Jaguar were the last examples of p2w in MWO, and the Cheetah got nerfed pretty quickly.

Making daring pushes is going to be the death of you though. It won't work out. Let other people lead pushes, then capitalize on them. Play like a pussy and let the pubs go first so you can use them as a distraction to rack up damage.
To put it in a way that sounds less like a dick move - if you lead the push, there's probably something like a 50% chance no one will follow and you'll get put down like old yeller. If a pub pushes, and you follow, you're at least two mechs instead of one, and the team is more likely to follow suit.

We've talked about this before. Brandy can't be expected to let people ride forever on his dime. Mumble is paid for and functional until like 2017. I feel the odds are more likely that we'll all be dead by then, rather than that we need to worry about someone taking over our organizaton from the inside.
That's really the key: lack of an agenda. Of course adoptation will be slow when the person running thing X is the type of person who'd kick and mute people for playing game Y, Z, and Q. That would be a factor even if he was pro-Piggy.
