Infuse it into your HL, danger close and last resort are both bad perks. If you come by another, something like counterbalance (makes recoil vertical), smallbore (+range +stability -reload -mag), and outlaw (+reload on precision kill) would be incredible. But yeah legendary marks aren't that big a deal, and if you hit 200 you max out, so spending here and there when you've still got mark quests is a good call.

I think the vendors refresh their inventory every day or so. If you don't like the vanguard shell that they have for sale just wait a little longer.
Don't worry about spending marks though, a couple of days of doing the daily heroic and dismantling shitty legendary stuff will get you back up in no time. You might as well take advantage of the sparrow racing even if you're shit and grind up extra helmets and even spare legedary racing gear for some marks.
Some other kind anon might be able to tell you if there is a quest that pops a 300 light shell or not, I've been stuck with a 299 vanguard one for ages due to hating large chunks of the king's fall raid.

the shell increase will get you a light level and a half iirc but marks aren't too hard to come by (30+ a day) and it's one of the best deals since shells are so rare. the crucible ones have perk choice but require rank 3 on crucru so you probably aren't too close. running a NF will probably give you a shell >280 so try that first if you want.

There's a quest on the dreadnaught that gives you a 280 shell, but I can't remember which one, the shell is the dread explorer shell, so you could look up the quests. The vanguard one is good top have as well cos of the glimmer you get on killing fallen. The dread explorer one gives cheddar for hive iirc.
I seem to have got a lot of 290+ shells from valus fuckface, but that's probably just a coincidence. Court of Oryx is said to be good for shells.

question,
i'm about to get my second character up to 40, when you run the nightfall on one character for the first time in a week, do you have to switch characters to your other 40 to get more rewards? or can you play it on that same character as the first run, as long as you have another level 40?
