slightly unrelated but i thought Grelborg the Miser was a pretty cool character. It's an ogre in alterac, basically one quest has a noble from stormwind sending you to kill him to get some shiny tiara he's stolen. And another quest chain from Uldaman has you kill him as well, and explains that the ogre likes hording shiny items and therefore happened to come across a powerful artifact that you need for the quest. I just thought it was neat that they created that ogre's personality just for 2 fetch quests.
Another thing i really like about vanilla quests is when you're sent to deliver a letter, you can often read the letter in your inventory and see the plot tweests before they happen.

started playing a bit before TBC came out.
I hated the idea of pay to play which is why i started so late. it had utterly killed the game i played before wow.
I've never been much of a raider always felt too much like a job didn't want to ruin 10+ people day because half-assing it or not knowing what to do. also i tend to get distracted trying to keep track of something rotation healing and stand in fire or somthing stupid
lonesome type person so I spend alot of time playing games or did. wow eventually of course became one of the big ones
like i said i didn't raid much the most was in wraith of baby king and i could never seems to well get it right even dumbed down as it was or so ppl say so end game for me was more or less dungeon gear and later honor/badge stuff and some pvp mostly AV, so i leveled up everything for variation race/class/proffession,
needless to say after you level everything a few time it gets hard to really engage with it.
Every so often a new vanilla server appears and I come back and level something trying to recapture something of the stuff i missed or only caught the tale end of coming in just a bit before tbc.
typically i end up overplanning it and burn out either well before cap, or after i get half decent dungeon gear.
part of it is hating finding groups since i had dungeon finder for most of my many hours on retail.
so yeah nothing truly terrible just too much time and effort spent i guess.

I like that too. Or when doing delivery quests you sometimes hold onto a single item and it updates as you progress. Like Jitters' notebook changes from manic and foreboding to this solemn confession. I like the quest you get in Wetlands that has you fetch a corrupted orb from a ship that's full of undead. The orb gives shadow damage in it's original form but the questgiver tells you to go get the orb cleansed in Stormwind in which case it gives healing power instead. So you can choose to hang onto the uncleansed version if you want the shadow power.

Rain of Fire? I'd say use it if there are a good group of mobs for the aoe, it's not a huge deal in a dungeon though and you won't get kicked for using it

Played back when nost just started, quit when my warr was at around lvl 40 because fucking warrior grind.
