As someone who neglected his Mechanic as a noob, I had a high moment with him today.
I realized that my inventory was full (I have an animator profession) so I went ahead and dropped all robots (I never did that before) and went invisible.
Then I proceeded to dismantle equipment through soul extractor and finished within 5 seconds to see the room cleared.
I was all like "calculated" but not really, I freaked out. That was fucking awesome.
I quit playing this guy when I started because it looked like he was going to eat a lot of cubes and I thought it would be a big deal, since I didn't know the benefit of disassembling blues over other equipment types.
Holy crap is he fun, he delivers on the "battle engineer" theme. I regret not getting back to him sooner.

Don't get me wrong. I love it too, but I know exactly why it never took off here. Asians MMO players tend to be attracted by difficulty. Western MMO audiences, not so much. Plus, MMO players are turned off by how much twitch skill it requires, and fighting game players are turned off by gear differences making them lose. It's not fun when your combos are hitting someone for 30%, and their's are hitting you for 70% because they've got endgame weapons/armor. I remember one Brawler who outgeared me so badly that her junk spin was doing like 85% damage.
Add in the fact that there's basically two skill levels available: god tier and shit tier, and it's nearly impossible for new players to get the kind of match-up experience they need to get better.
Imagine if in League of Legends, your only choice was fighting Bronze League or Challenger players.
Finding information is hard as well. You have to dig through Korean videos to learn combos/watch match-ups or find a decent build. There's no readily available tutorials like there are for other games like LoL, DotA 2, SF4, etc., and the majority of the information that is available, is for PvE, since the international community seems less interested in PvP as a whole.
The game also has no streaming presence on Twitch, as DFO is only on OGN.
I was an experienced 4k PP+ SF4 player who didn't mind going through a trial by fire. That's why I didn't care when the very first person I ever queued up against was Julie's Spitfire who completely shit on me because I used it as a learning experience. I don't think the average player would've responded as positively to that kind of an introduction.

Witch build is though.
Feels like witches are one of the toughest classes to distribute SP for. After a lot of playing around I finally made a build I felt comfortable with, but then I hit 75 and got my second awakening...
Suddenly it seems as if I'll need to completely revise my build. These new skills are incredibly strong, but also incredibly expensive. 500 SP per level on Uroboros is outrageous.
Anyone play a Geniewiz? I've been so out of it on DFO for years that these things keep taking me by surprise. How do people build witches nowadays?

if you want absurd potential on a class with minimal epics and don't want to be a support kek just make an mexo
you need a lot of gear but 99% of it is chronicle
9pc end of days is better than any epic or legendary gear in the game
9pc chained fury swap for luminous chakra and dog
if you're a turbo autist you also get amped 6vow+3silent just for casting wisdom blessing (only relevant if you don't party with a sader), which are still chrons
i GUESS you could throw in a cross of boiling blood for casting wisdom blessing (bad side of being a priest class, if you're super 100% serious about solo you need all the gear a crusader gets just to cast wisdom or striking)
that leaves two pieces of gear you need, weapon and whatever
epic weapons you can narrow down a lot with hero's pots
there's 6 epic rosaries, you can use 3 of them and the 4th one (level 60) is an absolutely amazing buff swap for both chakra and dog, so even if you get it that's good because you want it anyway
failing that the legendary rosary that drops in anton normal is good enough for raid and can be bought/sold, so even if getting one out of three specific epics is too rng for you, you can outright buy your weapon for gold down the line
and then after that you get one more piece of non chron gear to use along with your weapon and your 9pc
basically any one usable epic will complete your gear
if even that is too rng for you, you can pick a 45 all ele damage tear when you beat raid 5 times (read: buy 5 clears)
this is why mexo is considered the buy-in class for raid
can afford an anton rosary? can afford to buy 5 raid clears?

put it this way if you're a class you know gets into raid and you can't name somebody more geared than you on the server, you're getting in
whether you'll clear or not is a different story
biggest problem in raid is getting a consistent party
the guaranteed clear parties have in common that it's the same members every week so their teamwork is strong
they only recruit outsiders when one or two people can't make it, so room to enter one is small
in your case i'd be more concered about making friends with a vit sader and a shred wm than say amping your chrons or getting a +12 ranger rod
connections matter more than gear (and gear matters a lot so...)

you're competing with every single other futa launcher but also with every single other phys dps
if raid leader only has one vit sader and needs to pick a phys dps for one group, you're competing with smoqueed
let that sink in and ask yourself how many 2300 vit saders you can name
because that's how many chances you have to get in as a physical dealer
but if your group is about friendship more than stats and the vit sader and wm explicitly ask for you, you'll get in over smoqueed because group synergy gives better consistency
also realise that in order to have our raid scene be like korea, one fourth of the population must be saders, one fourth must be a mix of soul benders and wm and one fourth needs to be a mix of witch and dark templar
that means that 1/4th the spots in raid are for every single other class

Hi. Can anyone tell me their thoughts on what the best kunoichi otherverse gear is? I've been attempting to double imbue gear with red shadow clone and red spiral kunai, given spiral kunai is always my most damaging ability. None of the ov2 sets look particularly good to me; heavenly fire set probably requires the epic that buffs it to be awesome (or does it?) and the shadow clone set doesn't look like it adds as much damage as tainted pieces.
The only sets that look good to me from ov3 are the toad set (which is getting nerfed?) and the set that allows dark shadow tags to explode immediately, though I have no clue how good that will actually be.
Thoughts?

as far as korean f2p mmo's go, the pay to win aspect is definitely tolerable. it takes thousands of dollars to get a tremendous advantage in the form of an epic armor set + weapon. you can get by without spending a cent as an average joe but spending $20-30 worth of cash shop currency is recommended to get you started.

Compounding on this. you'll want to get an advanced avatar set once you find the class you want to play. Especially if that class is a physical one. Attack speed avatars are great QoL.

we're missing some shit that should be tradeable but isn't for whatever reason
for example there's skin avatars which change the color of your skin
they give very slight damage reduction and limited time event items can be used to add two emblems slots to them
the emblem slots themselves are kind of a big deal because you can use them to gain 6% crit rate
the item that adds slots to the item is tradeable and you can buy it with the gold but the skin itself isn't so you need to shell out a dollar or two to buy a skin
your character's safe is upgraded using money as is your character's number of inventory slots and max weight
however they give those upgrades out a lot for free as event rewards
i haven't spent a cent and i have one maxed out safe, several maxed out inventories and several lower stage safe upgrades spread out on my account
maxing inventory weight costs like two bucks
maxing out a safe is more expensive, with the higher tiers costing more
they eventually cap out at four bucks per upgrade, so the best thing would be to buy all the ones before the four buck ones and then use event upgrades to get the higher tiers, saving cera in the long run
the first upgrade is the most important, it removes the safe weight limit and triples its capacity
it costs like 30 cents
costs about 7 bucks to hit the 400 cera safe upgrades and there's 4 of them
you also have a max number of character slots and can buy more, but the starting number is 20(?) and they give out free slots every now and then too (server merge gave free slots and they gave a new slot when they added kunoichi in so everyone could try her)
keep in mind that the safes and inventory upgrades are conveniences more than anything
when i just level a character for events i don't need those to hit 85 comfortably
the only time your inventory will get tight is at ghent which is 55+ and it will be fine again once you finish it at 64

here's a tip
you will pick a first character, either through research or the youtube videos or throwing darts, doesn't really matter
at one point the class will not live up to your expectations and you will want to roll something else

and then on Y you'll get that same feeling and repeat for several months when you realize you have nothing capped despite capping a first character taking two weeks tops and that you're now out of character slots
it is important that you stick through with it to 85 and at least see all of the current content
it will make you second guess some classes you thought were cool and maybe appreciate others you glanced over
if at 85 you still don't like your first character, then you should go ahead and reroll with your new knowledgeif you expect to reroll midway anyway, make a female brawler and get her at least to 50, 50 is the level from which you can start calling in a character as an assist and the female brawler's junk spin is an amazing assist even at level 1 because it's a guaranteed level difference ignoring stun that lasts a long while, very useful

what usually happens in ov is you go overweight since chrons, frags and auras can be picked up anyway and only grind them all at the end of the 12 runs
however sometimes an essence of the rift drops and you actually do need to have free weight to pick it up, so you need to sort out your inventory at the end of the run
this is even more relevant in normal dungeons where loot weight matters, grinding up all your magic seals in between retries will happen very often if you grind time break for 3 hours straight

each piece currently costs a little under 10m
the 4pc bonus gives +2 iron strike, and the top alone gives +1
unless you got a decent armorpiece, go one step further and get the 5pc bonus for some nice extra speed and crit
i assume when they come out in global they will cost much,much more
you can however craft them yourself by simply grinding jelva (castle of the dead) for about 3 full fp bars per piece, total of about 2 weeks for a full set

Enemy ai is not active until about a second after entering the room so if you're fast enough he won't cube counter and void volcano+sesto should be enough to kill him. Just make sure one of your teammates goes near him before you release sesto otherwise he won't activate and stays invincible through everything.
4: Bring a witch and go nuts during ouroboros.
