Pick up life rings for your party if you haven't already. Using buffs and debuffs is pretty helpful too. STR and INT Boosters are critical later on as well. Using the Weaken Enemies plan does not penalize you either, so there's no shame in using that if a boss is keeping you from enjoying yourself.

Dungeon Keeper 2 is okay, but you're constantly bleeding money, which forces you to constnatly move forward.
There's War for the Overworld which is okay and has some neat stuff (like beasts that behave differently from creatures), but it's poorly optimized and lacks Dungeon Keeper's originality.
Seriously, a game where you can torture enemies to death and have them floating around as ghosts, doomed to be irrelevant forever? That's fucking bloody awesome.
