Honestly a lot of what FCR does is good, it's just some things about it have a high chance of just breaking the game or are arbitrarily annoying and you can't pick and choose very much.

I'm also playing tw3 from finally. It's bratty) bretty good so far, I find myself actually listening to the dialogue much more than fallout where I skip the awful narrative thrown in. The game needs new dialogue, but it doesn't need new romance dialogue. The Triss stuff is no longer completely anemic and Yen's was already good. Let's flesh out Act 3, Yennefer and Ciri's relationship, Radovid and Philippa, Dijkstra and everything, what the hell's going on in Skellige, make Eredin less of a non-entity, etc.

I played through Witcher 1 and 2 on Hard and I'm going to start Witcher 3 today.
Should I play it on "Blood and Broken Bones" or "Death March"?
Finally started reading the books, about half way through the first. Are all of them set up like the first where its a set of short stories/events or are some of them a single linear storyline? Not saying its good/bad, just curious

That's because they were written when Poland was still a Soviet satellite and Sapkowski couldn't make a living as a professional writer. These short stories were originally all published separately in pulp magazines. Later, after he became popular, they were all collected into one book with the overarching story of Geralt recovering from the Striga incident in Ellander to link them.
Book 2, Sword of Destiny, is still a short story collection, but they were actually planned to all be in one volume, so unlike Last Wish they are in chronological order and all tell a greater story of Geralt and Yennefer's relationship and character development, as well as introducing Ciri.
The third book, Blood of Elves, starts the "Saga" and is a proper novel. All remaining books are like that.
Be warned: the English publishers originally skipped book 2, Sword of Destiny, so it's actually the most recent one published despite being the second overall book. Do NOT skip it. It's vital.

Ciri in the first couple of books. Her abilities gave her an unnatural sense of destination, leading to her (somewhat erroneously) believing she could literally never get lost. She proudly proclaims it quite a bit in Sword of Destiny.
