The problem with the Armor Abilities was the ability to choose between them, thereby creating unequal encounters that aren't determined by skill. That, plus some were OP or badly implemented.
In Halo 5 they're very well integrated and standardized for all players. Thus the combat flows much smoother and is once again determined by how good the player is.
This, alongside other major improvements. No-bleedthrough on shields is very awkward, and Reach's weapon balance is atrocious compared to Halo 5, where every weapon is a viable choice.
This Reach port is fucking disgusting. If you guys want to play it I'll be sure to just boot up my 360 instead

While this is true, reach's balance is likewise way ahead of every other halo game but CE too.
Halo as a franchise just has always had pretty terrible weapon balance.

And what it did was fuck with weapon damage and make it a bit unpredictable. My DMR wouldn't always do max damage, and would sometimes get fucked over by a low amount of shield remaining.

Forge is pretty excellent once you get the hang of it.
Currently working on a little amateur map; supposed to be a training facility that was attacked by Covies. Making good use of the fog to make it look dark and smoky, with prodigious fire and lighting to contrast with the dark. Not very good, but a start.
Might post it here when I'm done, see if anybody has any critique.

2 has an obscenely OP BR, and the lack of an AR made it even worse. The BR in 3 is balanced but everything eelse is so shit and so many guns fill the same niches it's just as bad. 4 is just like halo 3 but even worse.
Every gun in reach is somewhat unique, and preforms at least servicably in that niche, plasma repeater aside.

One problem with Armor Lock (besides, you know, Armor Lock) was that it stalled gameplay. In the middle of a pitched gunfight? Whoop, your opponent just called timeout. Ever quit fucking right before you cum? Similar. All in all it was a shit get-out-of-death-free card.

DMR was the new all-in-all weapon, making to AR practically useless. Repeater was useless. Focus Rifle pretty shabby. Overall there were just too many weapons that no one would EVER use, when they should each have been a viable option.

Im a tryhard (i play the objective, play to win), all i remember from reach was playing Tons of Firefight and Zombies because every other playlist sucked, the weapons sucked, the maps sucked, with a Tremendous grind, far worse than Req Packs, to get Armor sucked.

Honestly, it's much thinner than it should be, but there's no good place to put it on that entire canvas. I can't expand it anymore because each base is made of some 70+ pieces, and combined with the physics cost of the terrain I literally cannot add more. I've been looking at shit to remove so that I can have more than a Warthog, Gungoose and Ghost at each base.

Damn Reach really plays like shit on the Xbox One.
Tried making High Speed Halo. Reach is still the only game that has the best physics to make it work.
Halo 5 has some kind of system in place to prevent anything from moving too fast when coming out of a teleporter so you can't keep gaining infinite speed. The game basically zeroes out your forward velocity when you exit a teleporter and it's really weird.
Also all UNSC vehicles must be built with some serious fucking parking brakes installed. The floor has to be super steep for a Warthog to move without standing completely still on a slope. So steep in fact that a Spartan can't actually walk up the hill so that's a problem if we ever get hammers and Infection.
Still, this version of Forge is fucking amazing.

Two Mantis' aren't ridiculous, but two Scorpions would basically be a camp shell fest from opposite sides of the map
I'm assuming you've never played CE heavies where people would literally just stick with Scorpions and drive as far backwards as possible (or up the hill on red base) and just camp there for the rest of the game because of the open sight lines

Because they are hiding a major part of halo history inside Warzone only. BTB has ALWAYS had at least ONE map that allowed Scorpion/Mantis play but now the only way to use those vehicles in multiplayer is through Warzone.
