It's a shame that the spotted timer is getting reduced to 2 seconds. Though I understand why - a player being able to get a quad-kill within the first 40 seconds of the active phase is pretty ridiculous.

They're good for either causing the enemy to give themselves away by shooting the trap, or for funnelling them into specific positions because they avoided walking into the trap.
Don't expect to get many kills with 'em though, Kapkan himself is still a really good roamer, especially considering he's in the heavy class.

Here's the thing: with oneshot-headshots on any armour class, even the GSG9 shotgun pales in comparison to the kill potential of any automatic weapon.
>Shotgun gets 7-8 shots (10/11 with Saiga), with a chance to kill in one shot if at completely point blank range and all pellets hit the body, headshots need to be deliberately saught after and pointed at. The 'tradeoff' is that you lose the ability to engage at long range, since pistols have fairly poor accuracy at range, even ADS.

Bear in mind that Glaz's rifle is essentially his ability, the scope is a bonus for ranged attacks, he gets nothing else special.
Having slugs and (probably limited, one magazine's worth tops) frag rounds in a unique shotgun would be enough to call it an ability and leave it there.

Glaz usually kills half my team in casual. Montagne can tell on me and makes me paranoid without risking death.

VIP means the hostage isn't necessarily in a specific spawn, he spawns in a panic room or some form of more secure area, but he has less HP and is more liable to panic
Informant means the attacker has slightly more information, maybe about the operators defending him, something of that nature
Operative retrieval, one of the attackers starts off hidden somewhere in the house, he has to remain hidden with just a silenced pistol and no comms, you gotta get in here and secure him and get him out.
These aren't amazing examples, and I know nothing about balance or game design, but surely something like this would've spiced the game up a whole lot, even if it's only available in the casual queue.

Kapkan is very viable for roaming. Creating a maze with his traps and keeping an eye on the enemies' angle of approach depending on whether or not they run into the traps and how they react to them.
He's not an outside-diver but he's good for holding a popular area away from the objective.

Most Sledges will smash a wall with no plan

Kapkan players usually want to be MVP/create a montage/e-sport

To be fair, I was just killed within 5 seconds of the round start. I run to the building, turn around to kill the camera behind me, and their Rook destroyed the barricaded window behind me and killed me.

Rushing is a tactical decision. It is obviously much riskier than turtling, with the rewards to match.
There isn't anything to debate about. Just because you dislike dealing with rushers doesn't mean it's not a viable strategy. Losing a pair of eyes that could watch the saferoom walls is a huge penalty for the defenders.
Maybe you should stick to turn-based games if you hate speed so much.
