there is literally no full cover on that map within a turn or two of the skyranger. that 24h sign is the only piece and it's at least two turns away from start, would have activated more dudes, and only fits one soldier anyway so some other guy in half cover would have still taken the hit

I don't think melee is gonna be "cool" in any sense and I'll probably turn off every option related to it being flashy because it's cringey as fuck, but it's nice to no longer be completely helpless at close range. ARs topping out at like 80% to-hit at point blank on a rookie (and on heavies forever without Not Created Equally/Hidden Potential) is bullshit, and it's kinda boring that the closest it gets to a close-range high damage option is typical vidya shotguns on only one class, and it'll be nice to have a useful sidearm once pistols stop being relevant for captures.

I decided that Long War just isn't worth $10 to me.

I played it on EU and it was more frustrating than anything else. I liked a lot of it but I remember thinking it was total bullshit when I had 36 Chryssalids and 4 floaters on the first terror mission that was literally impossible to beat even with all the best possible moves and outcomes. I managed to kill 28 or so before I finally got overrun.

Thanks for the help guys. I at least learned some stuff.

This is such fucking bullshit. I am beyond mad. Who ever was responsible for designing the base defense is complete and utter retard. What kind of bullshit is having only 6 (six!) people defending an enormous underground installation. And what about those fucking reinforcements, for fucks sake? Guess I am still mad.
After jumping through every shitty hop LW has been throwing at me why not outright state - "we are out to gimp the player in every way possible". Do these people take absolutely no feedback? Almost every option in the Second War make LW easier. And what the fuck is with those insane research requirements? I need half a battleship to make one alloy SHIV.
Fucking bullshit.

Annoying, but decrease chances of it being used by spreading out. Can also be cured quite easily and midgame armor makes it useless

>what are grenades
Almost never used unless you huddle your squad together close to a muton

Something you can see coming from miles away and something that happens quite rarely

A waste of ammo for the ayys and something you can remove with any damage or flush

Mutons will gladly grenade single people if they have no good shots. Suppressing one is basically a death sentence for whoever's suppressing them if it's an area with short sight lines.

In 700+ hours of xcom, most of it Long War (with grenades being a lot more frequent), I have seen grenade-throws on single targets maybe 2 times

>Okay, so one guy dies, and the rest get exposed.
Why is your entire squad huddled together again?

>Okay, so one guy is out of action and can't move
Unless you remove the supression, in which case your soldier can do everything
Not to mention you can also do actions that don't involve moving or shooting

Suppression with heavy lasers and pretty much any plasma tends to break stuff. It's not guaranteed, but it's common enough that it's both a threat when it happens to you, and something you can use to your advantage when you're in a good enough position to take risks. It's even better if you have Mayhem, it starts becoming consistent.

I don't know if anyone here is /tg/, but Ken Hite just released a mini-RPG where you basically play as 1970s XCOM.

MOON DUST MEN has you playing as field agents (investigators more than soldiers) fighting aliens and Soviet psychics, MAJESTIC OVERWATCH has you as the planning committee who choose what projects to fund and where to deploy interceptors, and then GALILEO UPLIFT is about the researchers working to reverse-engineer alien tech. It's fun shit.

Sure they deal more damage, but with rapid fire that's kind of moot. The long range accuracy of a rifle is better.

I have horrible memory so bear with me. If I remember correctly, she has a lab hidden in Antarctica. I think her lab is described as horrific with alien body parts all over the place.

>>
>>125503271
Nope. Tell ya what. If I can afford it, I'll throw down for a paperback, dissect it and scan it. It might be a while before I can afford it, so I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.
>>
>>125503727
$10 + SH on amazon

Here is the summary from the archive since we are talking about the book.

1. Xcom only brought down 2 UFOs, one of them is the avenger.

2. Xcom failed extremely early in-game (no lasers developed, or interrogation)

3. Bradford survived and spent his time drunk and resentful. He starts his journey to rejoin Xcom in the Epilogue.

4. Shen and Vahlen are both alive, bankrolled by an unknown source(s). Heavily implied some governments who folded did so in order to infiltrate ayy operations.

5. Shen survives in a converted WW2 sub, working on a plan to salvage what is now the Avenger. His health fades throughout the book, and when the AI of the avenger awakens sectoids Xcom couldn't find in cryo, he gets mind read, but it is not clear if the aliens found out since all sectoids died. (poor writing, sorry). He dies at the end of the book and leaves his brilliant daughter in his place. New Shen is smarter than old shen.

6. Vahlen survives and went underground on an active volcanic island. She continues research there, hacking the ADVENT systems. The island is found in the book, and is invaded. She activates the failsafe exploding the volcano which destroys the ADVENT and Chryssalid invaders. Vahlen fakes her death during this and escapes via Sea.

7. CONTAGION SPOILERS: It is not clear exactly WHAT contagion is: biological, chemical or alien. The book described it as a spread of 'crystal' that attaches itself to anything organic, including plant life. The animals it touches seem to be controlled by it (like zombies), and the animals dont behave as they normally would. (A hedgehog, some dogs and deer group together in one scene, and the operators use fire to kill them. The animals don't react to the fire and are subsequently destroyed by it). ADVENT uses flameweapons and prioritize containment of this contagion.

How does everyone else feel about XCOM 2's pre-order DLC and season pass?

I love X-COM. I even $115 (CAN) love X-COM. I would hand Firaxis $5000 in cash if it meant the difference between XCOM 3 being developed or not. I just don't want to encourage 2K's shitty business model.

>>125511060

The season pass is not day one dlc so its fine and the day one dlc that comes with a preorder is just cosmetic stuff. I'm fine with paying more for more xcom related stuff, blind hate against dlc is stupid. There is bad dlc, look at ea and paradox, but firaxis at least wants to give us good content for our money.
>>
>>125511202
I have zero problem with it.

Fuck, everyone here seems to think EW is the tits ("Just play EW, you don't even need to play EU") and yet no one is complaining that it was DLC. I don't get it.
>>
>>125511438
This, the first four people out of the skyranger should have rocket launchers and backpacks full of large rockets. Just blow everything the fuck up, the LZ can't be hot if it doesn't exist. Also give all your non rocket dudes high explosive packs so they can wreck everything too.

Just be careful if it's a sectoid terror mission, mind control and explosives is not good times.
>>
>>125511202
I'm alright with the principle. Not all DLC is evil, and it's pretty clear that this is stuff they'll be working on post-release, so it's not cut content. EU's DLC was, for the most part, solid, so I'm willing to put a bit of faith in Friaxis for a $5 discount.
>>
>>125511623
i dont see the problem with paradox DLC, sure it makes buying a game thats been out for a few years more expensive but by that point its better to get them in a sale.
>>
>>125512085
EW is an expansion. "DLC" is stuff like the Slingshot Pack and Elite Soldier Pack, of which one was "preorder or pay extra" shit that should have been in EU at launch.
>>
>>125512587
It is more the fact that you have to pay for your mongolian characters to not look like a european instead of it being actually part of the horselord expansion. That is really scummy dlc policy.

Pistols only get worse and worse as you go up in difficulty. They're **maybe** okay if you have a gunslinger sniper who needs something to tide them over inbetween psi powers, but that's it. An Assault should be rapid firing with their main weapon to crank out dat damage, and supports get dick-all to make their pistols actually good. Heavies don't even carry pistols.

could maybe it be you who is playing on the easy difficulty ??

>Vanilla classes

Shit if you want to talk about the base game you should be grateful that your pistols stay so relevant in a world without DR. It makes capturing literally babby mode. The aliens don't even just buy innate defense later into the campaign. You can do a pistols only run if you game it hard enough, because nothing in vanilla can just tell your pistol damage to fuck off.

USG: Why did you decide not to go with interceptions?

Solomon: Well, because I think that what we had before was basically kind of a mini-game, and so I felt like it didn’t fit as well with the theme, which gave us an opportunity to start fresh with some of these things. We said, "Well, that one doesn’t work that well," and we weren’t that thrilled with what we did in Enemy Unknown, so we said, "Alright, let’s instead take the effort and put it somewhere else."

USG: A big part of the original original from the early 90s was being able to put your base in the right place so it could make interceptions.

Solomon: We’ve got radar, and I think the radar range is right. With the very first game, it was all about basically putting them in the right place so you can get the radar range so you can make the countries – the right countries – happy. You know, the ones that pay you all the money – you gotta make the right countries happy.

Exalt were planning to let the ayys uplift humanity and take over the world IF they left. XCOM was an obstacle to their goal. And so, they undermine them.

>>125541639
Their decades of planning hinged on the aliens leaving. And when they didn't leave, they were kinda fucked. I believe they've been either eradicated or a few of them are still around trying to salvage the 'world domination' plan after the aliens get expelled.

Considering that EXALT seems to basically be the Illuminati/Majestic 12, fitting them into the "reptillians control earth" mythos of general ayy lmao stuff, they'll probably make a comeback in some form. They are a fan favorite too, everyone loves shit-talking about the big base raid mission and how much they tore up, but also how stylish the EXALT agents are even when gene modded out and wielding ridiculous laser weapons that somehow look even stupider than yours.

Let's discuss the new weapon attachment in Xcom 2 !

We know about 7 attachments:
Auto-loader, Expanded Magazine, Hair Trigger, Laser Sight, Repeater, Scope and Stock.

All of them have 3 different qualities:
(Normal), Advanced and Superior.
An Advanced Attachment is 2 times better than normal one, a Superior Attachment is 3 times better.
For example a (normal) Scope give +5 aim, an Advanced Scope give +10 aim and the Superior Scope give +15 aim.

I thought about what attachments are good to put one weapons and make a list, from the best attachment to the most useless, here we go:

1. Scope (+5, +10, +15 aim)
I think the scope is the best attachment, because aim is very important in XCom. I would put a scope on any weapon, because all classes have never a shortage for better aim.

2. Stock (Missed shots deal 1, 2, 3 damage)
Even with a lot of aim, shots will miss the target, so it's better they do still damage than do nothing. There are many critical moments in Xcom where any HP counts and/or an alien must die in the same turn, but the Stock will help a lot there. The is is useful for Grenadiers, because of their low aim, and Ranger with shotguns, so they can even "hit" at long distances. Late game snipers don't need it much, because i think anyone will put any aim on their snipers so that they always will hit anyway.

3. Hair Trigger (5%, 10%, 15% chance that the shot is free)
A free action is very useful, we saw it in the Xcom2 videos, how the "free action" pistol ability of the Sharpshooter class can be very useful. , so to have a similar (but random) effect on your weapons is very nice. 5% isn't reliable, but the 15% Trigger can be really good. If the whole team have the 15% Trigger and and shot with their main-weapons, there is a chance of 62,3% that it activates at least one time in a turn. During a whole mission it can active alot, what will make a huge difference in battle, because to shot twice or do other stuff in a turn is very good.
>>
>>125566721
I did, but one pod of thin men + seekers isn't a massive threat unless you've gone full retard and activated them at the same time as other pods. Not trying to make you mad, but site recon is not anywhere near being a hard mission.

Confounding Light is a whole other story.
>>
>>125566847

4. Repeater (5%, 10%, 15% chance of an instant-kill)
On paper it sounds very good to kill any enemy with only one shot, but there are problems. First, you must hit the opponent, a missed shot have no kill-ability from the repeater. The second problem is, that the shot kill the opponent anyway, so there is no need for that instant-kill. And the third problem is, that it's very random. But on the other side it can be a live saver and if the whole team have the 15% Repeater, bigger ayys have a hard time to survive. It's a low-chance, but high reward attachment, it can do almost nothing, or make the hardest battles very easy.

5. Laser Sight (+5, +10, +15 crit)
It's very similar to repeater attachment, only worse. Where the Laser Sight give me only a crit, the repeater give an instant-kill what is for sure much better.

6. Expanded Magazine (+1, +2, +3 ammo in magazine)
In Xcom: EU/EW the ammo conservation project from the foundry was very good and important, because reloading cost a whole turn and that was bad during a battle. In Xcom 2 reloading cost only 1 action point, so it's possible to reload and shoot/overwatch in the same turn ! So bigger magazines aren't that useful anymore, because it don't affect damage-output, only movement anymore. But it have its uses, you don't mind reload during a fight anymore and can run around more often, and it's good for abilities who need more than 1 ammo (Grenadier who destroy opponent cover need 2 of the 3 ammo of it's minigun)

7. Auto-Loader (1, 2, 3 free reloads)
This could be one of the best abilites in Xcom: EU/EW (and foremost LW) but because of the new reload mechanic it seems very weak in Xcom 2. It's only good if you play very aggressive and always run and shoot. But i don't thing this will be necessary, beside of multiplayer, in singleplayer i think you will have breath to not move that much but reload instead.
>>
>>125566612
oh but it's all good
>>
>>125566847
The stock was, as far as I have seen, a special attachment that was unique to that one sniper rifle. It will be something like the legendary weapons from massive chalice. The gun was a unique gun called "The Reaper."
>>
>>125566959

Sadly, we don't know how many attachments we can put on the weapons, but i saw pictures with multiple attachments on weapons, even on Tier 1 weapons. The best example is the "Resistance Warrior Pack" picture, where the guy in the middle have a Stock, Scope and Repeater on his normal assault rifle.
So i assume you can put 3 attachments on weapons, what lead to nice weapon builds:
Here some examples:

"Close combat shotgun damage roulette" (Hair Trigger, Repeater, Laser Sight)
It's about to get very close to the opponent and deal as much damage as possible. No aim needed, because of the shotgun range bonus. Goal is to get an instant kill, a second action for another shot or crit damage.

"Support Gatling Gun" (Stock, Hair Trigger, Expanded Magazine)
For Grenadiers who's job is to remove cover. Expanded Magazine for more actions during battle, Stock for hitting something and with Hair Trigger you have a second action.

"Big Ayy Remover Assault Rifle/Sniper (Scope, Hair Trigger, Repeater)
Designed for fat enemies who need no cover (MECs, Berserker). Scope to hit them, Repeater to kill them even with the low damage of the gun, Hair Trigger to hit them twice and for more chances of repeater procs.

"Save Bet Early Game loadout" (Scope, Stock Expanded Magazine)
It's all save. Scope for save aim, stock for save hit, expanded magazine to have enough ammo during a fight, no random 5% luck stuff. Works well even with cheap normal attachments
>>
>>125566959
I think the repeater would mesh very well with a revolver ocelot since you bring high aim so you won't miss giving maximum chance of proccing and you have lightening hands for free shots to increase the odds of proccing.
>>
>>125566995

In the Angry Joe video, at the end of the misson you will see, that he found a stock.
I think the special sniper rifle, was a hint from the developers, that you can make legacy weapons and give them to other soldiers

>>125567263
I think the attachments only affect weapons where they are put on, so the repeater would affect only the sniper rifle but not the pistol.
>>
>>125567368
If you can't put attactchements on the pistol for the gunslinger that would kinda suck/be a pretty big downside. I guess I just never considered that I wouldn't be able to trick out the big huge revolver.

Do we know that you can't?
This makes me sad
>>
>>125566496

I did actually break LoS.

The mechtoids were felled by a heat shredder rocket and the application of a double tap Guass Machinegun with HEAT rounds by Doorn. While the outsiders unfortunately chose destructible cover, meaning we could clear them out with the rifles in the squad. Both the medic and the infantry riddled both of them before moving on to avoiding the heavy fire by the mechs.

The thin mints were very worrying but half of them clustered up behind a hill making them easy prey for a rocket and some mayhem suppression by our LAW gunner.

The scout must've survived about 6 missed shots by thin men as he hunkered in multidirectional cover, the thin mints not advancing very close as they kept throwing fire his way, unable to see the rest of the squad. A few holos and cover destruction later, the Doorn machine and our resident sniper managed to nail all of them, with the scout running up to finish one off with a pistol.

The Sectoid commander had scurried off at the start of the fight but when he returned he didn't last too long. The sectoids and seekers showed up one by one for some reason so that wasn't so bad.

SS is such as weird concept.

How is it, if at all, justified in-game?
>>
>>125568598
Because being able to only see 10 tiles when you have a scope is pretty ridiculous and being able to see as far as you can with squadsight without having to take any risks with having people spotting on the front lines would be incredibly broken.
>>
>>125568598
I mean, fog of war makes almost no sense in real life, if that's what you mean. SS is more realistic than not having it.
>>
>>125568598
What do you find weird about it?

Its a game mechanic to make snipers act like snipers without making them to overpowered.
>>
>>125568872
>>125568860
>>125568829
I understand the mechanic from a gameplay perspective entirely. Not what I was talking about.

Its just how it is justified in-game; HEAT rockets do extra damage to robotic enemies because thats a specific warhead that penetrates armor. Fine, I can live with that.

But you're telling me because someone is close to the enemy I can see them, but otherwise they're invisible? Just wondering if there is any fluff to substantiate it other than telepathy
>>
>>125569082
Yeah, like I said, fog of war makes no sense in real life. It's just game mechanics, nothing to get too worked up over.
>>
>>125569082
Because hearing radio chatter about every soldier calling in the enemies' positions to the sniper(s) would get annoying after a while.
>>
>>125569082
Sniper is running around the battlefield. Their squad member says there is an enemy in x location.

The sniper then trains there scope in that area and shoots the enemy.

Do radios count as telepathy?
>>
>>125569082
Uh, special gear that lets them see via allies helmets or something? Where the webm of that dude firing a camera through a window with a camera?
>>
>>125569241
Like having the camera focus on panic'd soldiers every turn or listening to Van Doorn isn't.

>>125569250
Thats spotting, something that the sniper can do themselves, and should be doing.

But they're not spotting. Enemies are 100% invisible to you forever, regardless of how long you sit in position.

again, I'm not saying its bad or I don't understand it, just can't remember if theres any lore/fluff around it.

I watched again a video and can say..
You can upgrade only your primary weapons with this attachment.

BUT

There must be a way how you can upgrade the sword of the ranger, because there is a strange looking sword in the new trailer. maybe you can upgrade the pistol and grenadelauncher later in the game too.

>>125568598

I heard reallife snipers operate with a spotter.
In Xcom, if he see a target he can shoot it, but if it's too far away he don't see it anymore.
Squadmembers tell the sniper where the target is, so looks with the scope to that point, but he have problems to hit the target , because it's so far away, so no crits on vital parts of the enemy and reduced aim in Xcom 2.

Don't forgt that almost any game have such kind of scale. There is almost no game who have corret ranges (the< are all trimmed down), for example tanks in RTS shoot only 100 ingame meters, in RL they can shoot 4000 meters. Only few games have correct ranges like ARMA and Combat Mission but they aren't that kind of games people like.
>>
>>125570081

Even games like wargame have this kind of mechanic.

Units have a stealth rating relating to how easily identifiable and visible they are from a distance.

You can counter this with units that have excellent optics. Most MBTs and regular vehicles have medium. Recce vehicles and some infantry have good or even very good.

Only special ops forces have excellent optics.

its just a game mechanic

I wouldn't say its cheating since as you pointed out its built into the game but honestly your gimping your game experience. If you erase all your failures its makes the victory hollow.

x-com is best experienced with those high and lows, and overcoming despite the obstacles and road blocks.

>>125596981
It isn't, really. Part of what makes XCom so enjoyable is the triumph through adversity; you're supposed to feel like you're losing things. Savescumming removes the risk ans suspense element altogether. There is literally no chance you're going to lose ANYTHING ever if everything that goes wrong can be retried infinite times until it works. Nothing is stacked against you, and the victory feels less meaningful because of it. When you've trudged through a tough campaign, your memorial is coming up on like forty and a lot of soldiers you saw rise through the ranks and perform bravados or complete fuckups have died for you to be at that fucking temple ship proxy mining this piece of fuck ethereal to kingdom come it actually has sentimental value to you when the credits roll. Then you can sit there wondering who you could have saved, or reminisce over that retard rocketeer who never hit anywhere near his mark but someone made it to master sergeant anyway until finally getting hilariously mauled by a berserker for blowing up half his team. You - or at least, I - don't get that with savescumming.
>>
>>125596981
Because you might fuck up horribly and lose your whole A-Squad after 25 hours of gameplay and the causal player won't tolerate this. But this is a general on /vg/ and not some xcom thread on steam.

I have wondered this so many sleepless nights.
Just like with nuzlocke it vastly improves the experience. Really I believe permadeath in every game only enriches the experience, minus a few exceptions like linear games permadeah call of duty sounds awful.
The only answer I have ever come up that isn't memery like 'casuals' is that its just what people expect.

The thrill of an Ironman save is not something many people enjoy. Many play games to relax and just have fun, which in itself is subjective. Many don't like the emotional rollercoasters Ironman games tend to produce.

Why is isn't default Ironman with the option to turn it off is beyond me, though.

In Beagles first XCOM videos he mentions
>If this was classic I would look for the best cover around the map and trade shots, but since we're playing on impossible we better keep looking for a good place to engage.

And some videos later, same series he says
>Sorry for waiting so long for the next video, I played on my other savegame and discovered some overpowered things (ie. Stealth Armor)

The first statement implied, that he knew what it is like to play classic, therefore he must have played a classic campaign before.
But the second statement says that he didn't knew about xcom's lategame.

Did beagle play xcom on impossible right away without finishing the game at least once on classic? Is he a born tactical master.

You don't play your games in the higher difficulty?
>>
>>125601616
Absolutely not a waste, it will delay the ayy from claiming the country for a month. This means they will start getting resources and research from it later than they usually would. Directly it means your next month will have less UFOs in it than it would have if they had the country.

You will lose the satellite, but you may get more activity in that country than usual, meaning more interception chances (which at this stage aren't really worth taking, but still..).

Usually when you do this the AI uses an expensive mission like a terror or infiltration to finish the country off, which means that terror mission isn't being aimed at your other countries. That alone is worth $200 imo.
>>
>>125603721
I did start EU on classic, fucked up, tried again, fucked up, tried again, fucked up again, tried on normal, got bored quarter way through, tried on classic, finally succeeded and replayed EW 2 times on classic after that but I didn't start with impossible. I played the first 2-3 months on classic, then repeated the first mission on impossible like 200 times, then a year later finally started a campaign on classic for a cinematic playthrough to the end (and had to force myself for it). Vanilla is pretty boring after the first months.
>>
Fuck whichever long war dev thought it was a good idea to swap the muton in the zhang escort mission with a cryssalid, that damn thing triggered off a series of clusterfuck that resulted in one of my snipers getting murderized, turning into a zombie, smoking my grenadier, and then escalating to a 1hp thin man shooting zhang in the face when he was hunkered down across the map and covered in acid.

>>
>>125608592

>>
>>125608592
The problem is you get one build for each class when you min/max. One perk is usually the best, and the time where you there is an actual choice in perks it doesn't change how that class i played. LW might have doubled the classes and had 3 perks per class, but it still felt like you were railroaded into certain choices.
>>
>>125608592

Augmented Reality HUD (this is canonically how S.C.O.P.Es work and why they provide an Aim/Crit bonus despite not literally being a scope) and just the sniper themselves being able to make those shots.

Presumably, other soldiers are informed of ayy locations and that's why they can move accordingly, but can't shoot them because holy shit it's a fucking speck, I can't see that nigger how you expect me to hit him

>>
>>125610781
From what I have seen the perks are either boosting your primary or secondary weapon. There will probably be perks like squad sight in vanilla, but for the most part you will be able to do two builds that cause the class to play very differently. Like the ranger, whose trees look like they are split into either being a ninja or someone who dashes all over the battlefield fucking things up.
>>
>>125610781
They're probably like two A E S T H E T I C S per class, like how Assault is divided up into defensive or offensive perks, or how heavies are geared towards either making dudes easier to hit for others (holo target, rockets, grenadier) or just making them more dead or otherwise indisposed (bullet swarm, suppression, danger zone, mayhem, etc). or snipers as close range pick u off types vs long range squad sight guys, or supports as medics vs actually useful members of the team

All you're doing by taking a medkit is admitting that you're so garbage that you're letting guys get hit/downed. Same with armor that doesn't add extra abilities. Body Armor > Skeleton Suit > Ghost Armor, that's the only valid progression.

Good evening and welcome to yet another episode of THIS IS SUCH FUCKING BULLSHIT!
What the fuck is wrong with these people? I just stumbled upon a Cyberdick Dreadnought with 45 or 50 health. I couldn't tell because it was obscured by the health bars of hojilion drones. I had an Outsider Overlord with 40 health. I actually paused and counted it by hand, it was that unbelievable. I had a MEC miss (which was expected, this is after all Long Dong out of fuck you over) and destroy the cover for 2 of his mates. I had cover collapsing on soldiers hiding behind it. I had an invisible Sectopod that would appear out of this air when approached.
This is such fucking bullshit.
Anyone has any tips for clearing out large ships? I tried going around it and picking off pods that patrol the along the flanks but that takes forever. Being forced to move slowly and taking almost three hours to clear a ship is not fun. In most cases I am left in front the pilots cabin where I get assaulted the moment I open the doors from every which way. The cover crumbles within a couple of turns and then it's a pure slugging match and luck.

>have no fun

it's possible to make slow, methodical games, but XCOM is not one of those games. There's way too much dead air to make it tolerable to play XCOM slowly, having only about ten seconds of actual player control for every minute of gameplay is ludicrous.

If they'd remove alien activation cutscenes or increase the general speed of the game, it'd be okay, but as it stands, if you're not one-turn wiping everything every turn, you're not just bad at the game, you must have some kind of brain disorder and legitimately hate fun.

If I wanted to watch aliens do alien things for two hours and do nothing about it, I'd rent a sci-fi movie, not play a video game.

Larges are hard. REALLY fucking hard. Everything about the way they were implemented in LW is designed to make you slow down, not take risks, play cautiously and ALWAYS have an exit strategy.

If you're honestly trying to say that ALL missions in LW are like that, then you're just a fucking liar.
