I changed the "BEFORE YOU START" part and added information on Locale Emulator.
However, as people are saying that the guide is dead and are interested in a newer version, I'm interested in remaking it. Mainly because that guide is very biased against HF Patch, it's not even half as bad as it makes it be. There is absolutely nothing in the HF Patch that can'be reversed later. 95% of it is composed of base files (DLC, appends) and "extra" stuff (such as launchers, translations and subtitles). The only content that actually replaces the base files are the uncensors, which can be replaced and switched freely without problems.
Not sure if most anons here would be OK with me saying "A-Actually the HF patch is not literally the anti-christ" though

If you add any positive reference to the HF patch, it has to come with "we do not tech support for the HF patch, so you're on your own if you fuck up." You don't need to be biased against it, but the point of our guide is to not use it. It has its own install guide already and if we wanted to use that we'd link to it.

Fair enough. I sort of tried to follow that guide like three times, but it'd always end up bad at some point while installing extra things like DLCs, uncensors or mods.
So I just said "screw this" and downloaded the HF patch. It did literally everything for me. Today I have dozens of mods over the HF patch and nothing ever stopped working, I experience zero crashes and all's good. More people should know that the HF patch can save them hours worth of headache imo.

I literally installed the wrong uncensor with the hf patch and just installed another one over it and it still worked. I got 3d rooms, MCP, tons of clothing additions, all the Hexa packs, several patches like the no-dim ones, several launchers, all works perfectly. I'm not. As I said many of us (myself included) don't use it so we can't help if someone has problems with it. It's especially annoying when people ask us how to install it when we have no relation to it.

Chances are no one will have problems with it though, I understand if this community had problems with the HF Patch, but HF seems to update it regularly and those problems are not so common anymore. For the record, I just remembered that there is some uncensor remover program/mod that I used to remove mine. And the uncensor is the only thing that replaces files from the HF patch as far as I know.

Just realized my mistake while trying to fix it.
I actually, uhh... Forgot to paste the jg2 file back at the aa2maker folder. All I did was delete it... So that explains why there was so much missing. Now that I pasted it there, it all worked

Manual way is not hard, it's just more time consuming and the experience of doing it is more useful than the experience of double clicking an .exe. If the guide deserves any changes in installation method in the future, it's perhaps swapping Wizzard to AA2Install. Because wizzard is unreliable and slow.

the only thing that is really off about a few of my best characters in some ways is some minor eyelash differences, and a few things like nose position and some very minor overall eye shape differences. it's mostly very subtle stuff once you get down to it in the end, and that really ends up being a judgement call on yourself whether or not you want to go the extra mile on learning to the into morphing and other stuff for things like nose position, and eyelash/eye differences.
you can make some pretty crazy good recreations so long as if you're willing to put the work into it, Teatime games had a decent chunk of these, because of how easily modular it was people were able to get pretty crazy with it and that game has some great recreations (pic related)
a statement like "non-oc will NEVER look like the girl in the original" ends up being complete hyperbole and pure bullshit.
if the colors, face, hair, clothes, eyes, irises, and personality is right, and the only things slightly out-of-place are extremely minor details that mostly no one will give a shit about, then it's fine. it's more than good enough.

duh. unless something is officially sanctioned it isn't, uh, "the real thing". we're talking strictly about matching the appearance though, which is something you can reasonably do with AA2, and you can get pretty damn close if you put the work into it. so shit like those two previous posts is wrong.
though i've seen some "officially sanctioned" 3d models which look pretty awful. Type-Moon put out a 3d model of Aoko on Twitter once, and the proportions were completely fucked. ditto for a lot of games which have both 3d models and sprites/portraits in a VN-esque style whilst they're talking or some shit.
