In a year we went from AC 1.0, which was barely functional and archaic, to Crusader / SC 2.1

Hell, it wasn't even that much further back we didn't have anything other than the Hangar module, and they had half the staff they do now.

A year of development time is eons.

Maybe in the SC universe it's impossible to silence traditional firearms for whatever reason so a crossbow would be more stealthy, I dunno.

I just think it's funny that he's chimping out about it on Facebook.
>>
>>125387845
Yes exactly. But my point was, it doesn't mean Elijah is a shit artist, like the other poster you quoted suggested, it simply means that he could have designed mountains of stuff, but all except 3 pieces used he wasn't happy with.

For example, the artist who designed those 300i concepts, I personally think they chose the most shit concept out of all of them, so if I was an artist, and CR chose the one I liked the least, I wouldn't be happy about it.

Artists don't choose what gets put in the game, they are paid to follow design briefs and create environments or assets. It doesn't make them bad at their job if they don't like the final product.

I liked to think of that question of more as "will my ship be affected by the gravity of a planet in any meaningful way that reflects orbital mechanics?"

To which the answer is of course not the ships have enough thrust to hold them selves aloft in several g's of gravity with their maneuvering thrusters alone, gravitation interaction means nothing in the SC universe. Unless we get a gimmick system with a black hole that could get a magic hold on your ship if you are stupid.

No, it's people who are basically middle-aged casual gamers with nostalgia who jumped in to this kickstarter campaign and pretended to be "hardcore PC gamers", but in reality they blew all their children's college funds on ship packages and vibrating chairs with sticks attached to them and can't play for shit and get upset by the mere prospect of encountering another human being in Star Citizen, and are utterly out-raged by the possibility of having to deal with their pixels dying from being attacked.

It's actually interesting how SC and ED took two different paths down the space sim revitalization. SC is trying to evolve space sims while ED is trying to recreate the old games with a fresh coat of paint.

I wouldn't even go that far. Some mods can be quite touchy.
>>

You are not thinking passive-aggressive enough. Underhanded compliments are the best way to go to REALLY get under people's skins.
>>
>>125410437
Nah, from what I've seen the mods will knock people off of the boards just on account of not liking what they have to say.

Solution: don't post on the official boards.

I think if the game does become a multiplayer success with a PvP scene, there will be offsite boards for smack talk and open discussion. You might get banned from the RSI forums for smack talking offsite (lol), but who cares?
>>

I really should download mini-pu and start griefing faggots.

Best way to have fun is ruining the game for the ultrashills. Give em a gentle reminder that there are still citizens who will judge the game on its merits and arent here to suck off roberts&co at every opportunity.
>>
>>125410920
Yeah, but that's why subtlety and passive-aggressiveness are legitimately required. You've absolutely got to maintain plausible deniability at all costs. This allows you to go to the administrator directly, or concierge for help, if you've got access.

>>125411082
I haven't seen any direct "civil/normal discussion" banned, personally. It's when people lose their tempers and start ranting that they get bumped off.

Do you think that the following statement is reasonable and constructive, in response to a player complaining that he refuses to play Arena Commander because he is getting killed too much in his LTI Gladiator by mouse poors in rented Hornets:

"You should stop posting and get some more matches in, because the game has a pretty decent skill curve, and you need to invest time to get good. You should not be expecting to blow everyone away effortlessly because you have an expensive setup and an expensive ship."

?

Because the RSI forums mods don't.

>>
>>125411670
It was never promised to be seamless, ever. They said from the beginning that it was going to work like Privateer or Freelancer where you get an automated dock into the planetary landing area.

Elite: Dangerous is the game that promised seamless transitions and atmospheric flight.
>>
>>125412015
Shift the "you should stop posting" to the end of that setup, I doubt the mods read past that. They're lazy assholes at the best of times, and look for any sign of their "safe spaces" being broken into by "griefers." Get in the important parts of your post before you shove in the veiled insult.
>>
>>125412171
He's not memeing about planetary landing. He's memeing about the whole.

>>
>>125412357
It's good, reasonable advice, though. If someone is struggling to win matches in Arena Commander, the best thing to do, instead of complaining on the forums, is to play more matches and practice.

All I'm saying is that it's pretty impossible to get any kind of real discussion going on the official forums because of stuff like this. The first thing you need to learn about dads in games like this is that they WILL weaponize the report system because they can't play ball and win in an actual argument.
>>
>>125411890
>Orgs should be pretty fun to work for.
I want large orgs like Imperium and Explore to make back door deals with pirate orgs to run proxy wars against each other's operations.
>>
>>125412532
Not arguing with that. These are people who want combat to be gimped so they can play the equivalent of Euro Truck Simulator in space. And the mods are with them. Fortunately, the developers aren't, so we can at least have that.
>>

If he compromises for anything, it won't be his vision for the Persistent Universe. He wants to play the game for as long as I do, and I've got about $5000 USD of hours to get out of this game, and I plan to get it. I also plan to enjoy it, unlike the $60 USD I spent for Star Trek Online, or the same amount I spent for Fallout 4. I will get my money's worth, I just want to enjoy it.

I seriously doubt Chris Roberts is weak willed enough to cave to pressure like that while making what is actually his dream game, and the one he always wanted to make.

>>125413407
I can confirm that is not the case. It seems utterly random whether the load-outs carry over. Sometimes they do, most of the time they don't. I've never had it carry over from the hangar to the baby PU, but I have from the main menu after exiting and re-entering the game after messing around in the hangar. God only knows what the impetus for the carry over is. I haven't found anything that consistently works.

It's effectively immortality, even if it doesn't share your consciousness. There's a notable game that asks questions about immortality, the cost of it, and the whether it's worth it for what is essentially yourself to live on as a brain scan when the original you is long dead. It's an interesting game that makes you think, both in terms of spacial awareness and philosophy. You don't get a game like that frequently, leading a lot of people to jump on board and extol it above all others, for better or worse. It's worth a try, at least, but puzzle games aren't for everyone, and the game seems to drag on at points.

Hadn't seen a thread about it on /v/, then again I don't go there very much any more.

does the show have that one main lady who is basically badass marine?

Can't remember her name but she was the one that had the on-asteroid fight with the monster thing whilst running at ridiculous speeds.

She's not in the show yet. Perhaps next season.

Yep, forgot her name as well but that's her. iirc it was on ganymede and the monster obliterated both mars and earth troops in power armor and her being the only survivor.

Maybe. I'm not about to give them any credit for having one or two good shows.
