So, my amigos and I just got offline raided on official 79, only 1 person was online to defend. It took them 4 hours to break into our main base with a giga, 3 battle quetz's and over 200 C4 with RPG turrets and grenades. (we were build on an unbreakable rock)

You only need the ingredients to craft your custom consumables, they don't inherit that weight.
If you gave yourself 1130 crafting speed after a mindwipe, while a recipe with only 4 dodo eggs (that are absolutely easy to obtain every hour if you just have a few of them) gives you 278.5 food, HP and stamina. And while each dodo egg weights 3 or 4 kgs, the custom dish you get only weights like 0.1. It's the most cost-efficient thing and you can carry a lot of them around.

A Giganoto having 300 times a Rex's life is unbalanced not because I can't take one down if I wanted, but because it fucks up the scale of everything in the game.
If the Rex had 60 times the life it has (same for most other dinos), then the Gigano would still be crazy powerful, but the game wouldn't be unbalanced.
What's a bunk bed? Basically a double bed with some metal in it. A normal bed requires 15 wood, 80 thatch, 30 fiber, 40 hide. A bunk bed requiring more metal than a fucking Quetzal platform saddle is unbalanced. Is it so completely superfluos only bored endgame players with no problems to conjure metal will make one to fancy up their rooms? Yes. But the point is, is still unbalanced.

Server is going to be down for a little bit while the host does whatever they're doing.
In the meantime, I'm going to start installing the Stairs Mod w/ Circular Walls.
Also, I've increased the Max Platform structures limit, but as I believe it to be broken I'm not sure it will help. This is the only way to find out though!

I specifically made a whole post comparing it to other things to show that the point is not that it's hard to do, but it's *unbalanced*.
I literally own the blue mountain and leave a resident ankylo and doed there with a quetzal with 4 forges on it that I use to go back and forth from there to the volcano, trust me when I say that metal is absolutely not a problem for me.
Unbalanced means that the current resources breakdown for a bunk bed would be 100% fine if you needed, say, 40 metal ingots to make a bed and 320 for a special one.
The devs have seen how people who reach endgame look bored and added tons of shit specifically for them -mosa, quetzal, gigano and other structures, BUT they forgot to rebalance the game around that.
You fags who keep spouting your "git gud" meme are only going to make the game look perfectly fine as it is in the devs' eyes because heaven forbid there is legitimate criticism about this game except optimization.

Ark is a slow game about moving slow with shitty hitscan guns that can kill you in a couple shots.

I'm brand new to this game. I've played Rust, Minecraft, 7 Days, all the big ones. Dinos n Chill sounds fun, but should I subject myself to vanilla servers first? They seem like a huge clusterfuck.

Pelt multiplier should be fixed now.
Platform structure limit on rafts, dinos, etc. should be fixed now. Max amount of structures per platform increased to x2.
Enabled structure decay. (Thatch 4 days, Wood 8 days, Stone 12 days, Metal 16 days of tribe structure inactiveness). By tribe structure inactiveness, we mean the amount of days a tribe member goes without coming within a certain range of the structure.

It's atop the frozen tooth peak located in the central northeastern part of the island. Might be reachable if you use onethe of the north player spawn points, but good luck dodging sabertooths on the way up.

Server is back up. Don't forget to update your Valhalla (2nd time today) and your game.
If you're curious as to why the server was down, here goes:
Today's mini-patch for ARK today, which ironically introduced more server optimization, required the server updated. I therefore updated it, only to then find out that the update broke the Valhalla map. I then waited until the developer released a fix for the Valhalla map and finally updated the map.
Everything should be working normally now. Sorry for the downtime, as you can see, even the smallest of ARK patches can mess stuff up. Hopefully the server optimizations they introduced are actually noticeable!

You mean dodging direwolves.
Sabers are manegeable, but when they put the direwolves in the game their solutions for making them different from the saber was to create a glass cannon. So a wolf has the same attack a spino has, except, you know, they come in packs. It sounds stupid, but wolves are definitely THE thing you should be careful around in the snow biome, more so than rexes.

Frozen tooth, despite its name, is not one of the snow biome peaks. There's no snow to be found on it at all.
Anyway, I already got my answer from one of the locals on 355. WRF (the Chinese tribe that came around after we were trounced) did indeed gut out PaDiddy's base like a fish, so they've got nothing to come back to. Kinda want to go up there and take pics of the ruins myself, if I can stop dying stupidly first.

Make sure that the Steam Workshop did indeed download it. It can be weird at times. If not, just delete the Valhalla mod folder from your Steam directory and let it re-download itself.

I spent the entire time this server has been setting up some my other tribe members can join when their computers are fixed, but at this point its hardly ever up and we just lose dinos when it goes down. It's fucking retarded. Not to mention everytime the map or some other dumb mod updates you have to wait for someone to get on and update the server too.

As for your complaint about mod updates being manual, I'm sure, based on your previous comment, that you would prefer we do it manually where you don't lose your saves in comparison to an update wiping saves due to a compatibility issue.
As for your downtime complaint, the server is up way more than it is down, so I'm not sure where you've been the past 2 weeks.
