The laser musket you get at Concord is pretty strong for how early you get it, though not as flexible as a pistol or laser rifle.
Righteous Authority is a pretty decently upgraded laser rifle that you earn from the first brotherhood quest at cambridge PD. You can do the quest no matter how weak you are because a brotherhood paladin basically stomps through and does the quest for you.

Don't even need to compare it, for example the fact that if you kill a high level monster or do a high level quest the reward is scaled to your level OR it has a high level requirement is pants no head retarded, like what's the point of even doing difficult content if there's no appropriate reward?
Most modern RPGs have similar problems.
Same with the skill tree, it doesn't really matter what you actually put your points into because you only have limited amount of slots you can fill up, while I can understand this is to prevent the player from becoming too strong it still is dumb method. Especially when not having the perk activated equals to not having the perk at all, they could do a 'focus' thing where focused perks would become much more powerful whereas unfocused perks would only unlock new move or give only minor boost.
The combat is also slightly meh (especially considering how all monsters in previous games had multiple unique attacks/abilities)
Still it is the best RPG of the year, FO4 hardly even classifies as RPG at this point.

This is more of a chicken and egg problem, as big budget games tend to come from well know devs and studios and thus attract more atention, but recently Battlefront was release was regard as subpar, despite the its huge marketing budget, and to this EA refuses to tell how much Dragon Age Inquisition sold, something that is a huge red-flag, ultimately meaning that word-to-mouth is more important than it is given credit.

Salary. Count the names in the credits sometimes. How much do you think it costs to pay 200+ college educated people for 4-5 years and keep the lights on? There are lots of expenses, and frankly, 60 dollars is not sufficient.

The emotionally urgent catalyst is what makes it a main quest in the first place. Save the Vault. Save the Village. Find the Father. Find that faggot who shot you. Find the Shaun. That's Fallout.
