Why can't you convince the Brotherhood of Steel to team up with the Railroad? They can still destroy the Institute and stop the creation of future Synths but the existing synth's such as Danse should be allowed to continue to live.

The Railroad is hardcore about the Synths, they think they are humans capable of freewill and deserve to be free. Destroying the process of creating them rather than changing is effectively a genocide, just without the mass graves.

This was an issue right up until I maxed melee and now I tend to one-shot Softshell Mirelurks, but every now and again, they do nothing but hunker down and move forward in their shell and it is frustrating as fuck.
Fallout 4 would have really benefited from a perk that let melee characters bypass armor the same way you do in NV.

I finally got around to going to the institute so now I've seen all of the factions.

Hell, Virgil made a cure for Super Mutants. If you could turn that into some kind of dispersable weapon you could eliminate the threat of Super Mutants for good.
And their advancements in robotics could help develop weapons to cleanse the wastes of all the deathclaws, mirelurks, and other such shit without sacrificing a single life.
I'm having a bug with all my followers. When I tell them to come with me, their dialogue changes to reflect that they're with me, but they refuse to move. They just sit there. I can tell them to "follow" me but it doesn't change in the dialogue box, and they still just sit there. Firing and rehiring them doesn't fix it, and fast travel doesn't fix it.
Has anyone had this bug before? Do you know any console commands that might help?

All the while, real lives are constantly lost to them. They infiltrated Diamond City and committed genocide on the ghouls there.
They send synth infiltrators among the general population, in order to eliminate any and all political opposition and ensure that the bulk of the population is utterly compliant with them and their bizarre experiments.
Virgil developed that cure on the down low. And it could certainly be great if a universal cure could be developed, but you don't necessarily need the Institute (as an institution) for that. You just need scientists willing to work for the good of the Commonwealth.
