It goes there but it basically just goes in a straight line so don't expect it to hit that spot if the monster moves at all. You usually don't bother with the pheromone and just aim the R+X R+A until you get the colors you need. Takes some getting used to and some monsters are just really shitty in that regard.

So I've got like 120 hours clocked in this game, been playing mostly solo and did every quest possible up til 10*. Molten tigrex is frustrating so I decided it was time for me to go online and unlock G-rank. So I spent yesterday cruising through it til I hit HR7. Tried Akantor, double-carted, then tried kushala and carted in the couple minutes. Right now I'm rocking skull visage, velociprey mail S, tigrex vambraces S, tigrex tassets S, and arc greaves so I have attack up(XL), sharpness +1, and 309 defense. I also have a dragon talisman and can use it for +20 dragon res when I'm using a weapon with 3 slots. My weapons include a Khezu Shock Blade, a Potio Bocciolo, an Arluq Whammer, a Kecha Clanga, and a Parahazard Call. Is it my equipment that's weak or just me?

My friends got up to G2 before switching to G rank armor and we were primarily playing duo. You can get by for a while on your HR garbage but you should change quickly. Molten Tigrex's challenge is based off of your gear and greed. He has big openings you can capitalize on but if you get too greedy and your gear is up to date you're just going to cart quickly. HG earplugs + offensive skills make him a lot easier to deal with since you'll kill him much faster leaving fewer opportunities to lose your patience and attack when you really shouldn't be.
Anyone know an effective way to dodge the Great Maccau's double boxer punch attack?

Old Rathalos had a roar that lasts long enough for you to eat a charge but at the same time, its so easy to GS that whenever I think of reasons why FU is the easiest game to GS on, I think of Rathalos.
A mediocre GS build can headstagger a calm Rathalos to give you a chance to dive through the roar.
