You select from these mechs plus a couple (free) DLC ones, and a plot related one. They are customized via what you equip them with.
Getting your mech is a major milestone in the game as your movement and combat abilities are greatly increased.
Those who survive a long time on /vg/ start to think they are invincible.

X and Xenoblade's problem is that it's nothing more than a character drama with robots haphazardly put into it. I don't care about doe-eyed anime kids crying about their feelings and flashing their tits. It's because of that that we don't even get the mechs until we're half-way into the game.
If they ever tried pulling that in Mechwarrior or Armored Core, I would've slapped the devs right there and then.

Every time I load into one of those tiny as fuck maps I always wonder why the fuck hasn't anyone ripped these models yet, fucking Unity would make it easy as shit to re-make the game and you could just shit out infinitely larger levels, it wouldn't even be that hard to stay true to the formula, most of the missions were just kill all enemies.

I don't really see it working with any kind of conventional control scheme, you'd need complete control of the line while being able to shoot targets and an automated system would just be annoying. Maybe VR can pull it off.
You know, all from would have to do is make an AC where you had cutomizable moeshit mixed in with the normal mechs, kind of like that Cosmic Break game. Panders more than enough for Namco to have no problems publishing it.

I went into A0 thinking I would hate it due to the amount of CG that's in it, but I quickly got over it because it's essentially grunts against super weapons, a reversal of most mecha anime where the protag has the robot that outclasses everything else.
There's just something about regular mass produced models overcoming something far superior that gets me going.
I loved the music in the show too. Might be my shit taste talking now, but A0 is my favorite mecha show that came out recently.

True, but remember that the writers could pull a mars mecha out of somewhere if they wanted. The princess could, somehow, have one, the deucalion could have a experimental suit or something like that inside, since they manage to capture count Saazbaum's castle, a extra suit left behind in the castle or build one with whatever they could salvage. They could pull one if the wanted, instead he still use his practice mecha.

The MonHun edition CPP for the 3DSXL is pretty legit though.
I got the new 3DS that comes with all the buttons of a CPP and I must say it feels a lot better than using the old 3DS.
I wouldn't recommend getting one as it is still a little bit pricey and the old 3DS can still play the vast majority of 3DS titles.
Getting 60fps in MonHun is pretty good though.

Since I never had a DS or any nintendo products after the original gameboy, I only bought it because of all the peer pressure coming from my bros that wanted to play MH again. i play an artillery god gunlance and it's great fun - whenever you actually get the chance to actually do something, that is
see the gunlance is extremely slow, and its most powerful attacks have both a large amount of startup AND cooldown
a lot of the time, pressing the attack button feels more akin to pressing the get-hit-by-the-monster button
at least it comes with a shield
maybe i was just rusty after not playing for months but damn it can be frustrating using it because at times it feels like you're just stuck and there's nothing you can do. you can only walk/backstep or sidestep after attacks with the weapon out
feels like while the monsters got more agile and more threatening throughout the series, the speed of the gunlance's attacks remained the same. in 4U you really have to know what you're doing - at least in solo play. in teams it's easier to find openings for your huge attacks, and there's more downtime to back off and recover
when you do get on a roll, however, you can take down monsters extremely quickly - provided you actually hit with your boomiest attacks. and, of course, it's incredibly satisfying

i wouldn't say they're "important" but the games tend to have a unique form of storytelling that just works. you can ignore the stories though and still have a great time due to the gameplay being quite good (like other from games)
and if you're curious if you need to play the games in order/if they have connecting storylines etc. the short answer is not really but kinda sorta. i think for answer is the best if you're looking for single player/story. if you enjoyed it you can then go onto 4 (for answer is the sequel to 4 but ironically i found 4 works better if you play it after for answer)

Cheers but it's only LR and SL portable on the Vita store and I doubt this PSTV can run UMDs. My PC can't run PPSSPP or PCSX2 so unless I go find a PS2 and copies of the older games these are the only ones I can get. (excluding the newer titles)

Okay, pulled the trigger on Silent Line portable. Actually enjoying it a lot more than Last Raven so far.
It helps that I worked out a nice way to map the controls. Left stick for movement, right stick for looking using the PSTV dualshock stick emulation (using d-pad for right stick). L for boosting, R for right weapon, triangle for left weapon, X for switching. Works nicely.

When I originally got my Xbox 360, I picked up Chromehounds with it. I had played Mechwarrior for years (shun me), but this game seemed different. I've gotten real comfortable with this one AC I made. It's in Last Raven Portable, but It's pretty much what I described above, with an Ishanaten shield. A Shadow rifle with extra ammo, plus a hangar weapon. Never thought going for long, drawn out fights would be so much fun.

Assuming I have any kind of server recognition, which I don't, the AC people would most associate me with is a brown quad with black hashes. Back in V it was as close as I could get to the coloration of the rock wall with the perch in Abandoned Facility.
I do have some really poorly painted ones, though.
Then my NPR ACs are decent, but I purposefully went overboard with decals. Kind of like the cars you see at NASCAR, just ads and sponsors pasted all over the thing and it looks kind of bad even if what's underneath looked okay.

V for only backstory for VD (even then you can go into VD without even playing it).
The parts you import from V can be unlocked through getting your pilot rank to A in VD. The imported parts cannot be tuned however, you have to actually have them unlocked and bought in VD to tune them.
As far as single player content goes, there's 9 missions of increasing difficulty in V (do them good enough and secret things can happen in the mission), plus a sizeable number of order missions ranging from "Destroy X amount of targets" to fights against other AC's.
Depending on your skill level it could take you a little bit to clear all the single player content.
I think the world bosses are kill because the servers are kill so you're out of luck there.
The same formula applies to VD as well, 9 story missions of increasing difficulty with various order missions thrown into the mix.
Servers for VD are still somehow up so to fight the special bosses you need to be in a team and go on special sorties. At the end of each season is boss rush mode where you can fight any of the bosses you want while the map resets.

You don't need to learn piano but it helps a lot, and I mean A LOT. It's the instrument I play and I can't tell you enough how much it helps. If you're going to learn anything to help you compose learn the piano, and I'm positive most professional composers will tell you the same. But you can honestly just start straight up composing without a midi keyboard or whatever.

Like, I've got eleven or more years of piano under my belt but I look at Audacity or whatever and my eyes just glaze over.
