Just remember the basic rules of Attila.
Unless you could completely dominate the battle, don't auto-resolve. Auto-resolve means losing more troops than you normally would, and those troops are usually the ones that make the difference in a battle instead of the shitty, basic units you use to hold people in place.
Fear Attila.
Sassanids are easy mode (but might not be when this new faction comes out).

I'm guessing here since I don't have the firsthand experience but it seems like 40k is the most prevalent/popular. I don't know of any other sci fi/fantasy stuff that matches it in presence and all the historical wargaming stuff seems much more diffused over a lot of different companies since the armies and the lists are generally independent of one another.
If I were Creative Assembly and just wanted shekels I would have approached TW:Arena more like an online version of miniatures wargaming with a dash of MOBA/ASSFAGGOTS - paper-doll your units, sell new textures/gear and all that.
