The bottom line is, anyone who converted you should be able to make you a tome (you can use a tome to make more tomes), if you show the initiative to ask for a tome they'll probably give one to you. Beyond that, you need to ask for the help or rely on the wiki. What I gather from my experience yesterday is the general idea to convert people is to place a conversion rune near your target but hidden away, blast the person with a stun, drag him to the hidden area, cuff him, then invoke the rune. if you have other ways to incapacitate your target, those would probably work too though.

I did something similar once.

Went around cloning all the vents and scrubbers to all be on the same frequency.

Filled a separate pipe system with a lot of plasma using scrubbers and connected it to distro with a single digital valve.

When the time came, I enabled the scrubbers to scrub N2, and set every single vents to internal pressure 0kpa, then opened the valve.

Station was bacon in 3 seconds.

If I remember correctly, a PR was made that made it so that cult-banned people are gibbed upon conversion attempt, so you won't have to worry about that.
If you get someone who's got a loyalty implant (preventing conversion), you could handle it a couple of ways. If you really want the convert, you can de-implant them via surgery and then put them back on the rune. However no one would fault you for just bludgeoning them to death to keep them from ousting you, you are an antag after all.

If you're still here, I am 100% sure that they do not need to be restrained to convert. In that same shift I converted most of the crew myself and I never even made cable cuffs.

Stun talismans last a pretty long time and prevent them from talking. Based on your story, I can tell you were the botanist starting cultist. Here is some advice:

1. Just ask you cult brothers for help / more gear. I was the one who gave you the talismans and I dragged you to your room and asked you if you needed anything. I had ten more stun talismans in my bag. After I did the research I was pumping them out like a factory. If you don't feel confident enough to convert there are still a bunch of things you can do to help the cult. Make us talismans. Use astral journey to find targets / talk to ghosts. Manifest ghosts and let them go kill security.

2. If you want to antag you need to be quick. Your response times seemed pretty slow. Try to be more responsive.

3. If you draw the rune before converting (this is the method I use), do it somewhere dark so someone won't wander onto it and yell cult. Don't put it in a main hall - maint works better. I converted five people in the mech bay (on deff it is perfectly designed for conversions)

4. I am 90% sure the person you were trying to convert was an IAA. They are loyalty implanted, so you can't convert them without surgery. These people can't be converted:

>Sec Officer
>Warden
>HOS
>HOP
>Captain
>Anyone within 3 tiles of Null Rod

to your points, yes, i am exactly who you think i am. I know I seemed slow, that's because I had the cultist page open and was reading it at the same time you were talking to me. That station(which I didn't know at all) was pitch black and I couldn't make it to my dept without using the map either, so that tab was up as well. Learning a new station in darkness while also trying to learn an antagonist role was doing a lot to slow me down.

The conversion I did attempt seemed well executed, other than the fact that it didn't work, and I'm confident I could do it right the next time. Whether or not I was capable of converting people, I wanted to learn how. I could have asked to tag along with you or something, but I was also fine with just learning the hard way.

I want to thank you for your help though. Giving me the stun talisman was enough of a clue to figure out the basics of it.

I was accidentally part of the test run of that "Sims" mode.

Everyone started panicking. You literally, unironically had to type *blink and *inhale *exhale to prevent yourself from going blind from dry eyes and suffocating.

First thing the assistants did was wall off all the bathrooms, so everyone became manically depressed because they couldn't shit/piss.

It was great/horrible.

I'm so sorry, I debrained the vox after he died in medbay, gave it to the captain, hoping he'd make it into a borg (for me to subvert).
Captain couldn't find the AI core and my other borg jumped him in engineering before he could get there (which ultimately gave me the opportunity to kill the cap while he was hurt and trusting)

The poor MMI got stuck in a bag in maint with a corpse, good thing you found him.

He ended up becoming the AI though right ?
