Here's what i think is wrong with fallout 4
dumbed down character building and quest design
>virtually zero skillchecks/attributechecks during quests or conversations
>no side quest i've seen so far has more than two options
>various skills have disappeared instead of being replaced by perks (energy weapons + survival completely gone medicine lost many of it's uses especially in quests!)
there's way too much trivial content
>repetitive and boring radiant quests
>a lot of the places you find are not filled with anything interesting instead they're populated with raiders
everthing about settlement building
>not enough options
>controls like shit
>disconnected from the game
>no interesting stories or quests to uncover
Ultimately this game is a lazily made timewaster made for people who like building shit and for people who enjoy shooting a lot of raiders. It's not what i expected from a new fallout game and not what i wanted
DLCs probably won't fix the lack of options during quests or the dumbed down character building but they might introduce interesting quests that replace the raiderfilled locations.
Who knows. I'm glad that they improved the main quest design but the story is still shit and so is a lot of the rest of the game

Charging barrels for the gatling laser?
To me it seems like the standard, higher speed barrels actually have a higher dps against most things, but the charging barrels are a bit better against tougher enemies. However, the whole point of gatling laser (and minigun) is just to quickly take out groups of trash enemies.
I guess the charging barrels are more efficient ammo-wise, but come on it's not as if fusion cores are ever a problem.

As much as I like the Fo4 BoS, they are basically just a military organisation following a cult of personality, they're going to face either extinction or assimilation into a more stable culture the same way Caesar's Legion does.
While I can't see Caesar's Legion ever surviving long term, I could at least see the Brotherhood being absorbed into a larger culture as it's military over time, maybe a similar situation to the pseudo-feudal system the Mid-West Brotherhood uses, with the Brotherhood providing protection for a Commonwealth state from outside threats in return for support and a recruiting pool.
It'd be interesting to know more about the Capital Wasteland, it could be that the Brotherhood has built a functioning state akin to the NCR since the Commonwealth expedition on the Prydwen is obviously purely military, we never see any civilians or hear about non-military life in the Capital Wasteland.
Or they could just be sitting the Citadel doing their own thing and lording it over the other settlements still trying to scratch a living in the ruins of DC.
