It most likely won't be. The fact that Firebug wasn't changed at all, and that Nuke only took a radius nerf (unless it was significant), means the broken ways of beating HoE are still there. The only thing you can't rely on quite as hard anymore is the Berserker, but with a Medic on his ass, he'll probably be able to tank shit, especially because Smash most likely still has the knockdown part of it, which means any large zed gets thrown to the ground for a few seconds without being able to do shit.

I think Tripwire did at least half the right things with this patch. They nerfed a lot of braindead bullshit like nuke, zerker in general, and medic armor healing. On the flip side, it sucks that pretty much zero buffs were handed out and Firebug will still have his splash damage nonsense (Yoshiro said that's being nerfed as well though). At least we'll be getting a sense of HoE going back to how it should be.

I know it's basically a prerequisite to shit on Tripwire's design choices in /kfg/, but I really think this is a step in the right direction, however bittersweet it might be.

Im inclined to agree. For all intents and purposes this game is fully released. It was when they started selling it. Press betas aren't a new thing, aren't exclusive to TW, and aren't really a bad practice, except that press gets betas MONTHS before we do in TWI's case. That's the problem, not that it's happening.

There's more than 1 ammo bug in the game.
Plenty of bugs for such a polished EA game.
Not that they'll fix them all, there will always be bugs in games
But TWI wait 3+ months to release bug fixes with content which is annoying since the new content will just bring more bugs anyways.
Their team won't test long enough to find them all until they release the patch and get feedback.

It's like InD when they balanced the perks and then didn't realize that Demo wasn't good until level 25, microwave gun makes Firebug a good all around zed killer, and Berserker went from mediocre to god like.

Well, there is some good news about that.

Based on previous precedent, now that we've had QA confirmed and SPECIAL EARLY EARLY ACCESS players with Youtube channels have showed it off, the update could literally (literally [literally {lit.}]) be released tomorrow, or the day after.

However, to play it safe, expect nothing until next week.
Anyone who thinks it won't be out before Christmas is delusional though.

Pretty sure PD2 had a big drop off where most of the regular players had enough and left.
KF2 probably took a chunk of PD2's player-base but can't really hold on to it very well from announcing micro-transactions again.
At least PD2 had enough people playing where it could've worked if the one guy hadn't lied about "no micro-transactions ;)" but they fucked themselves and their OVK's:TWD and STORM games.

my point was that PD2 can't be salvaged, but KF2 can be, for now. it's really all going to depend on how far TW takes this trading floor bullshit and future DLC. it's very possible they could start implementing shit like XP boost crates and god knows what else. tripwire also said they don't want to split the community with paid map packs, but i could still see them doing it anyway.

i'm worried about the future, but i still love this game more than i hate the bullshit surrounding it. again, for now.

Support can give ammo, 5% armor/15% damage in zed time.
Commando has zed time extensions and stalker vision/faster reloads (which is hopefully fixed in the update.)
Commando is a better Support player than Support is.
Not to mention Support's main skills should be passives when compared to how commando is setup.
Tenacity's 10% and Commando has Autofire's 20% damage
SCAR might not have the same DPS as the AA12 but you can't control the spread of the pellets of the AA12 unless you're in the zed's face, commando can do it from a distance and be accurate.

Fucking this a million times. They said they wanted to keep the KF1 elements and improve upon it, but they really buttfucked the doors trying to force players to move around he map. The players were clearly fine with the camping nature of KF1, so i don't even see the need to make doors pointless in KF2 and thus changing the whole flow of the game.

Doors busting open but being repairable seems like the perfect implementation to me. This will add a perfectly reasonable risk to door camping, while rewarding coordinated team play where players balance the right amount of welding / shooting and how they will handle the inevitable door bust. Now that i think about it, this would also make demolition more useful for C4ing one door-horde per wave.

That wouldn't be a bad solution, but like I said: I guess Tripwire is too worried things would be overpowered again with even something minimal like that. Just weld all doors as demo as quick as you can, kite enemies to the door and explosive weld perk them to death or something. Rinse and repeat each round.
