Been playing some DT2 and had to share my thoughts on it.
I don't have a problem with sexualization in games. I'm 37, I'm an adult, and if I want to play games with mature themes, then those kinds of games should be able to be made and sold.
HOWEVER.
My problem is this. Many developers out there, the vast majority of the offenders of this are from the Asian region of the world, they don't think about other parts of the world playing their games when they make them.
Example.
Japan, I get it. You have a much lower age limit for consent, and apparently in that culture it's more acceptable to swoon over young girls. I'm an American from the US of A. That's not cool here. At all. I'm sick and TRIED of seeing anime-inspired little girl characters who LOOK like they are 13-15 at the OLDEST, who also dress in VERY suggestive clothing. But hey! It's okay, because she's actually a 700 year old non-human. Well, she LOOKS like a 13 year old human girl, and THAT is what matters.
Developers should consider this, and consider making as many characters as possible at least 18 years old. I honestly don't care if it's okay in their culture. More than ever, games ARE reaching a worldwide audience. And if you are going to take our money, you could ALSO respect OUR cultures as well, as much as possible, when making characters in your games.

The only thing I'd personally call good are the pre-ML side stories, and Chicken Divers which are maybe 2 hours all combined.
Before the Shimmering Time Ends is okay I guess, but it's written by someone who was barely involved with ML/A so everyone feels off, and being all ages removes half the point of its existence.
Sakurahana ga Saku Mae ni is just irredeemable garbage. Sumika and Takeru go full retard and act as if they didn't learn a thing from the previous several months for its 6 hour or so duration and it's just a terrible after story. Like there's more dumb drama shoved into it than there was during the route its supposed to be following. There's a handful of good scenes especially at the end, but it's not worth suffering through. I believe it was primarily written as the aforementioned writer.
Atonement is decent, but not much of note happens beyond showing some insight into UL/AL Marimo's background. Inheritance is really more intended for people who originally read KimiIta. It's kind of neat I guess for being the only actual VN segment that touches on the post-MLA future I believe. Rain Dancers is basically the introduction to a story that the rest of doesn't exist, so it's kind of crap. Confession is just trash. Marimo and Michiru just act like dumb cunts throughout, and it just wasn't an enjoyable read. Chicken Divers is probably the best post MLA thing age has published on their main brand, but it's not like the competition is all that amazing anyway.
Aspiration is funny if you're into age's brand of humor, as is Resurrection. Nothing really stand out in either beyond that.

No I was not bored, infact i really like it. Sometimes if I leave a game and if its not near a hook point in the story I feel no urgency to finish. So few days will pass and by then I come back and have no idea what I am doing so I start a new game. I must have restarted totori 4 times now. Where as a game like Neptunia all you have to do is follow the event markers on the map to continue where you left off. Or like in disgaea all you have to do is look for the stage that is not yet cleared.
So pretty much the Freedom and comfy that atelier gives you ends up being my bane because, lets say i put down atelier with a clear goal in mind for my next session and pick up another game, and the other game starts getting real and people are dying and the difficulty spikes I get really into it and sideline ateliers. Then I comeback to totori and have no idea where to go or what to do or what my goals are.

The original's pretty slow paced in my opinion. That mostly has to do with the way the POW bar works as opposed to remake mode. Item management might also be a pain if you don't realize how growing plants/using alchemy is a great way to free up space and make money.

Vita is personally my favorite platform for JRPGs. Some of my personal favorites:
There are 4 Ateliers already localized, with a 5th one incoming. Comfy story, fun characters, deep gameplay, great music. They're my personal favorite JRPG series of this generation.
Ar Nosurge has great story and characters, and best music ever. Gameplay has some cool mechanics but doesn't end up too special.
Demon Gaze is great for beginners in DRPG, relatively easy for a DRPG, but still more challenging than the average JRPG. Nice characters, simple but satisfying story.
Dungeon Travelers 2 probably has one of the deepest and challenging gameplay out of any handheld turn-based RPG this gen.

Simple combat in the Arland series, but crafting is a pretty deep system. Totori and Meruru both had some fairly tough bosses halfway through the game that no amount of grinding can let you win. But make some half-decent equipment and it's easy.
Post-game for Ateliers is very difficult, and if you don't look up step-by-step guides on how to make the ultimate gear, most players would probably be unable to complete them. Rorona+ postgame is really a kick in the ass for people used to the ease of the main storyline. You get rekt by the first random mobs you encounter, and one year is barely enough time to prepare for the final boss.

I define deep gameplay as a gameplay where I had to think and use the mechanics available as well as I can.
Ateliers gameplay are simple, but they require one to use all the mechanics well. Even the simple assist mechanics can determine whether you win or lose depending on how good you use them.
It gets even deeper once you aim to get everything in the minimum number of playthrough available, all the planning, alchemy, fighting enemies while being underleveled made me think a lot more than many other JRPGs I've played.
