Lads, in Banished, does the "Prioritise work in this area" tool work for building sites as well as for resource collection? Also, what's the base chance for plagues and shit to show up via the trading post?

Do not bother. You'll just have to redo it all when your city is bigger than your starting grid.
That mess in the top-left can be fixed by removing the middle intersection on the main road.
For future reference, don't cram intersections too close together, especially on big roads. The stop-lights get too frequent and everything backs up.

13k population hmm. I would suggest a small bus network. Build a small network around your city. Rail and subways are too expensive for such a small town.
This game (and mod) learning curve is so satisfying. Spent almost 20 hours to build one ugly 300+ people village without starvation or tool implosion.

I initially made a buss network, but it became too much of a clusterfuck when I started converting 2-way roads into 1-way so I made a metro system instead. Also built a bridge with plans to expand on the western island to get those oil shekels.

the best way to think of skylines is 'How do I do things in real life?' usually whatever the answer to that will be the answer for the desin in game. Yes for buses most of the time you want them in a straight line (because you dont want to be picked up from work outside your house and have a 20 minute walk home from the closest on return (or do a full loop of the line)), but sometimes you might terminate around a roundabout or something where the loopy feature can be nice.

If you make one line, it's one way. This is easiest to see with buses. Zoom in on one of the stops. You'll see it's only on one side of the road.

Nah, it was because I accidentally had activated smart housing in my entire city, and had it on for about a year. Then I noticed it and deactivated it, so land value dropped. What I am asking is what are the effects of land value dropping? I sure hope all of those won't get abandoned.
