Also, I noticed some of my guys using something like an arrow shotgun, but I didn't get to see who it was. Any idea what that is in Blood and Steel, if you're experienced? It looked like the Dragoons from the ticker.

how does someone deal with heavy lance based cavalry in large numbers, I can only field around 50 men right now and they are not that impressive
How does spear bracing work in mods? Is there like a reverse couching kinda thing where the damage is determined by the speed of the horse running into it? I remember in Silverstag (and I think it's the same in Floris) there was an utterly retarded feature added in an attempt to make Rhodoks better against cavalry that just added a flat bonus of like 50 damage for spears against horses, so if your horse is standing still and the enemy is standing still and they poke your horse with a spear, it gets massive damage and will be quickly killed. Do other mods have much more sensible approaches (or have Silverstag/Floris improved)?

Honestly i never played this mod before, therebefore i can't say too much about itand the fact that i don't even read/watch GoT
Looks good for me.
>>123954719
Has anybody played it recently? Last I heard it had some potential but really wasn't very good, but apparently they're still actively working on it. I'm a fan of ASoIaF(I loved GoT originally but it's getting shit)and would love to play a mod with that setting, but between Cozur's immense faggotry and what I said about this not being so great last I heard, I haven't played either of the mods. I find it kind of amusing actually that I'm into both M&B and ASoIaF and don't touch the mods, when meanwhile there are faggots who literally only get M&B for A Cock.

>>123956879
Honestly ACOK is better currently than AWOIAF. ACOK has more varied and better looking armor and runs smoother, or at least for me. AWOIAF meanwhile is clearly not close to being finished at all.
>>123957569
I'll believe that, but is A Cock 10/10 - AWOIAF 1/10 justified?
>>123957656
Well in its current state, AWOIAF kinda is 1/10 just because it's really, really barebones, although that's not completely justified as you're judging an unfinished product.
ACOK though definitely ain't 10/10, more like 7/10. 10/10 mods are 1257AD and Warsword Conquest.
hi /mbg/, newfag who wants to try this game out here. any mods i should use or should i just play vanilla?

>>123958638

Get infantry and Calvary as close together as you can. Set ranged back 50 paces or so.
It should be easy shots since your enemy is mounted.
If you want to be a cheap fuck, just charge in first and bait around the AI to fuck up their charge.

Just imagine a mod set in sengoku Japan but with 3D models the quality of what can be seen in VC...
That would have been nice. But no.
No instead we got a shitty dark age paying mod with atrocious mechanics and body models and approximately 150 variations of Spears and shields.
>>123964074
I could agree to that, Geko is a good mod even if you aren't a weaboo.
>>123964524
Mate, Geko would just have like 200 variations of spears. While I love Geko (I posted pictures of my Oda campaign in here months ago), I don't think it would have been a smart choice for Talesworld. Maybe if they included Korea and China.

>>123965326
Yeah instead it has spear infantry and archers/gunners
VC has spearmen, infantry, archers, slingers, and horsemen
That's just the basic troop overview, each faction tends to have some unique troops
And geko is just spears, archers/gunners (it would be better if they split), and horsemen

Is this is a bug?
I was besieging a castle and couldn't take it right away. I lowered it's garrison a good amount and left to go get more men.
When I returned to take it I realized it already belonged to our Kingdom. When I visit it, it says it has no garrison and it has no owner, but on the map it clearly has a garrison of 90 troops.
I went to go to talk the King and there's not an option to try and support yourself etc for the castle.

>>123987670

Not necessarily a positive thing. You can only fit so many people in one tavern. This means that your first city will basically never have ransom brokers, because the tavern will always be full of companions.

2h polearms are good in sieges with the reach and upstab since you can stab over your other troops and still hit them

best to get an ash spear as well since the ash spears don't break on hit

HE WAS.
A Horsemen got away and picked him.
So, I'm still somewhat new to M&B. I've been playing warband (55 hours in) and sided with the sultanate. Problem is the current marshall a shit. He's only got 30 men himself and he keeps travelling between his failed siege attempts and his castle in the south. There's no progress and we're currently at war with 3 other factions. Meanwhile, I sit on a lone city in the far north, completely surrounded by enemy territory, so I've got to stay there to guard it. Any way to get rid of the marshall? Any method to become marshall again?
pls
>>124058858
As the kingdom loses sieges, battles, and gets villages burned, the current marshal will earn points of Controversy. Eventually at high enough controversy the king will convene all his vassals to elect a new marshall; once this occurs you can persuade lords to vote for you (in the same manner as persuading lords to support you in granting a fief).
This can take an awful long time, however. In the short term you can sort of alleviate things by raising your reputation with other vassals in the faction and asking them to follow you personally, or just build up a force elite enough to beat the enemy in field battles. A good Pathfinding skill will help with your strategic speed, allowing you to outmaneuver and isolate lone enemy lords.
how am I suppose to keep these 100+ armys of rebels from raiding my fiefs?

>B&G: Caribbean! — Faction control
Hi everyone,
Today we’d like to tell you about controlling your faction in Blood & Gold. Many of you fairly noted that governor management and diplomacy in “Caribbean!” was lacking. So here’s what we did:
1) Now players can assign any of his followers as a governor. You can also entice governors from other factions. Governors can be assigned to attack a certain town, patrol selected area or follow your army around the map.
2) After creating your own faction, you can hire necessary managing specialists: Treasurer, Drillmaster, Sutler and Secretary.
3) Treasurer grants you access to economy control: sending convoys, trading through the clerk system in towns and operations with bank deposit.
3) Drillmaster lets you “transform” the troops you no longer need into your faction’s army. For example, you might have a small troop of runaway slaves armed with pickaxes. By spending some of your gold, you can train them and turn into, say, a troop of musketeers.
4) Sutler helps you to supply your army with provisions (in case you happen to be far from your supply base) or provide your troops with regular food delivery.
5) Secretary give you access to diplomacy: with his help you can declare war, try to make peace (which will now cost you MUCH more, so better act civil!), assign and dismiss your governors governors.
>>124082137
I'm kind of hype for B&G. I thought Caribbean was a decent amount of fun, and I'm getting B&G for free. Not my most awaited title or even mod, but it might be good.
>>124083569

What exactly is this, a kingdom simulator?
>>124094435
Yeah, it's great. Get Waband and play vanilla/diplomacy for a while, then move on to mods. I've got about a thousand hours in Warband, and a good amount in WFAS.
Don't get DLV right away, they're not needed (aside from NW for some mods).
If you like the game, the mod Brytenwalda, and Vikings/Dark Age British Isles get VC.
If you like The Deluge, get WFAS. Generally get the base game, and the DLC only if it interests you.
>>124095031
The multiplayer is pretty varied when it comes to mods and game modes. It's alright, but not something I play a lot.
>What exactly is this, a kingdom simulator?
It's primarily a highly moddable sandbox RPG. You should do some research, look it up on Youtube and what not, before you buy it if you know this little.
>>124095031
I do not play MP but the community manager and some other people seem to like it.
For your second question : Basically yes. But with a heavy combat focus though. Some mods/expansions add more diplomatic features but they remain light compared to other games like CK2 for example.
But again, the really fun part is mods : There's one for every taste.
Also the sequel to Warband is coming out in end 2016/winter 2017 so you still have time to master the game.

Trainer works for everyone, not just one party member. The more party members with points in trainer, the more EXP your guys get every day.

Also, no horse archery, but you clearly ride and have a crossbow.

Is there any downside to moving through the game slowly or can I take as long as I want?
>>124104113
You can take as long as you want.
The only "downside" is that the factions will fight, the power balance will change, and that your favourite faction may turn out to be weakened once you decide to join. But that's a very minor concern that might not even happen, and might not even bother you.
Play the game at the pace you want. If you're not a member of a faction, there's no real penalty to playing slowly.
>>124104440
Cool, thanks.
>>124100993
Are you a fockin casual? Agility is the second most important stat after strength as it ties directly into your running and weapon speed. A high agility character (like 30 or 40 agility) doesn't even need a horse, they can kite entire formations all day long.
Never level your intelligence beyond 20 at most- you don't use it. That's what your companions are for, intelligence slaves. You bump all their stats to god-tier while you do all the fighting and possibly even solo armies.
>>124105291
>Building standardized builds around slave characters
Why can't /mbg/ be original?
>>124105464
Because every other build is objectively shit? Wasting points on intelligence beyond 16 or so is ridiculous. Focusing on strength and agility allows you to make legendary characters who can single handily hold the line in a siege or wreck entire armies. A high intelligence PC depends on troops to do the fighting, and they don't do that well at all.
>>124105291
>solo armies
Last time I tried to lead the chargé, I got several hits in row and died right away. I was wearing plate armor, by the way.
Therafore, I made my character around leading and supporting the army.
>>124105624
So one build plays like Dynasty Warriors while the other promotes troop composition, placement, management, tactical and strategical thinking?
>>124105291
>implying 30 INT 14 Surgery isn't the best build
The most important aspect to you actual battle performance is anyway going to be your actual skill, not your stats. My "best" character would be focusing on INT, then CHA, then AGI and STR only last.
But standardized builds is so fucking boring. The best thing to do is to come up with a character concept at the start of your campaign, and then just play according to that concept, not some vision of what the "best" is.
>>124105885
Personally, I cant really imagine single charcter taking town or castle alone. Or defend it from 600-1000 troops.
>>124105956
>But standardized builds is so fucking boring. The best thing to do is to come up with a character concept at the start of your campaign, and then just play according to that concept, not some vision of what the "best" is.
this
>>124105651
>Leading a charge straight into the enemy forces
You don't fucking charge the enemy head on like a moron, ever. You hammer an anvil the AI, putting archers on raised terrain to rain hell from a high point and slow the advance of any cav on their position, have infantry go up the center and tarpit enemy troops and cavalry from outflanking your forces. While this is happening you should have been leading your cav to rear of the enemy formation, then charging immediately as your infantry engaged and slamming into the exposed backs of the enemy before they can turn and raise shields.
Motherfucker do you even tactics?
As for soloing, do you even understand what kiting is? Hint, it's not charging straight into the enemy like a Knight from the Order of Saint Lazarus, it's trapping the enemy AI while you constantly circle around them and pick off units with a longsword or bow.
Please tell us you at least are some new scrub who hasn't been playing the game long at all.
Why is the Castle Forged European Arming Sword so hard to find in 1257?
>>124105885
The other one doesn't promote shit. It's something you can get your companions do, and intelligence and surgery have nothing to do with tactics on the field of battle either, that's down entirely to the skill of the player.
My characters all have the intelligence of a knuckle dragging mongoloid suffering from blunt force trauma to the frontal lobe, but I typically end up with quadruple or quintuple ratios for my troops. The only reason I tend to lose troops is when formations tend to scatter and breakup after the first couple charges against a numerically superior foe, as the time you'll take the most losses is trying to pull out from a fight. And those troops are pretty easily replaced after I've gotten my first castle, as I've got a trainer ensuring I have a constant supply of fresh elite units.
>>124106431
Yes, thats what I exactly do. I said that the last time I tried charging straight, it ended like that, so since then, Im sending troops first, then join myself or lead cavalery for flanking and order to charge then.
>Please tell us you at least are some new scrub who hasn't been playing the game long at all.
Yes, Im pretty new. Only played three longer games, two on Native and one on 1257, now running third with intention to form a kingdom before dropping since I satisfied my need for this type of gameplay for now.

>>124109554
Maybe something was changed with 1257 mod, since I imported this character from here.
>>124101835
Your main character should always have trainer because the way the skill works is that points are given to every troop of a lower level than the one with trainer. It shouldn't be long before you're at a higher level than all of your companions, so it filters down to them and they upgrade quicker. As long as you're at a level higher than your highest level companion, they're constantly getting xp to help get them up to your level.

>>124113245
I don't have much of a proper opinion on it yet, actually. I've only played for about 30-ish ingame days, and that probably isn't enough to actually get to know the mod.
The setting doesn't really draw me in. Despite being Norwegian, Vikings have never been a favourite of mine, and then this game focuses primarily on Dark Age England, which doesn't make it that much more interesting to me. But it's okay.
From the mechanics I've seen the majority of it seems like it's good ideas that aren't incorporated in a way that makes them worthwhile. It's kind of cool that you can farm and mine and whatever, but I've never seen any reason to do it, which makes me question why it's even here. I like that a lot of core mechanics are toggleable though.
I haven't fought a proper naval battle yet, so I can't speak about that. I hope it's good though.
In general, it seems kind of okay, but I'm hoping that it manages to deliver more once I get into the "endgame" or at leas when I get fiefs and possibly control a kingdom. It's kind of sad that Warwolf manages to have some of the most interesting politics and economics mechanics of any mod, so I'm hoping I'll at least get something interesting in that department out of VC.
I'm getting a okay first impression, and I'm compelled to keep playing, but the mod isn't exactly blowing me away with quality or innovation.

Well its hard not to. Romans did colonize the region after all. And they are really small references (mostly ruins). Its a nice change from the babar-mud-shit Vikings/Angles.
>>124120875
But it's not a mere reference, it's a fully fledged "Roman" character from a family of people who still live near Hadrian's Wall and consider themselves "Roman". It gets a little strange, and feels more like a forced Brytenwalda reference than an actual reference to Roman Britain.
It's not a huge problem or complaint, just one companion, but it feels... meh.

While you're exaggerating a bit IMO, I can see where that would be a problem. I learned pretty quickly to take Pathfinder and bide my time, but I enjoyed the challenge. I can see where that'd be a turn off though.
To each his own, I suppose. At least we got the variety to do that.
>>124128350
well since it's based off of original M&B it's kinda true
the main new feature PoP has going for it is the knighthood order which no other mod has done as well as for some reason
>>124128760
Isn't it in part because they're refusing to share the code for that?
>>124128760
What features is PoP missing compared to Native that completely negate everything else it offers (Knighthood orders including CKOs, heartbeat quests, extra town/castle management options, bandit armies and unique spawns, qualis gems, mercenary companies that kings can hire)?

That makes no sense. Niggas are free to play the game they want. Up until I lost my desktop last year, I had a mashed up Clash of Kings and Blood in the West.
Turns out that Gondor would stomp the Iron Throne if the latter started shit.
>>124127673
The early game is an absolute nightmare due to insanely strong bandit-esque parties. Gathering a bunch of recruits and fucking up some looters only for Sir Fuckyoualot and his pals to show up, chase you down and fuck your shit up ain't exactly fun.
There's also stuff like having some crazy OP units that exist sololey to fuck you up (though Blood and Steel also does that, albeit to a lesser extent since they're kept to undead parties and you can easily get your own OP shit), a lot of the gear looking like shit and in good part to spite the developers for being autistic faggots, especially Saxon.

I think this is the main one that most of you want to pretend isn't the real reason you hate it. Saxon IS a retarded autistic faggot and everybody should laugh at him, but that doesn't make it not retarded to make shitty arguments against the mod itself and pretend you aren't just refusing to like it because you hate the creator. Every fucking time this mod comes up there are no actually objective arguments against it (they do exist, but none of you know them because you don't even play the fucking mod).
100% of them are a variation of the following:
>I don't like the setting
>I don't like some aesthetic aspect
>It's hard
>SaxonDragon
Then you act like it's OBJECTIVE TRUTH that the mod is shit.

This to say nothing of the debate about whether or not the fact that it has a guided mission is a *good* thing, but that's an opinion. There's also the small matter of the Pendor culture peasant troops all being objectively and *decidedly* shit, because of reasons. Ostensibly, their noble tree makes up for it, but ehhhhh?

I'd say it's good, but I also think I'm in the minority.
You should play Warwolf, and that's what I'll be talking about. It's the most strange, yet ambitious and different mod out there. It aims at a lot of things, but the actual execution is all over the fucking place. The language in it is somewhat broken, and the only way to figure things out is to try everything and figure out how it's supposed to make sense. Half the adventure is figuring out how to play it.
But when you get there, those that enjoy the mechanics and scope of the mod will find a pretty fun experience, that is at times really good.
I think it's a ton of fun, but I can't promise you will. You should however try it, if for nothing else than to experience the weird world of Fedora Gerinomo.
Oh, and it has really shitty porn if you're into rape.
If you do try it, and find it kind of interesting, I wrote a brief guide. Now, I wrote this back in August, and I know that it's not comprehensive or even totally accurate, but it should be enough to get you going.

What are the items in the armory you can access from the constable in Floris? Also what mod is responsible for companion features and other things that aren't diplo.
>>124129163
>I had a mashed up Clash of Kings and Blood in the West
That sounds like a ton of fun. The idea of making my own mashup mod has been something I've been thinking about for a while, and I've done my own minimods for a few things that have really interested me. I did a fair deal of tweaks, new units and new items for Calradia Imperial Age when I was playing that (shotgun dragoons are gamebreaking), and I've tweaked my Warwolf version slightly. Making something bigand stupidwould be great.
>>124131768
I kinda like how the Pendor peasant troops are quantity > quality. Shame that other factions offer me alternatives of a high quality that I can get in a high quantity.

>literally unbeatable day 1 spawns
Do you beat Steppe Bandits, Desert Bandits and Sea Raiders on day 1 in Native? This is a retarded argument. You think it there shouldn't be things you can't beat on the first day?
>the qualis gem economy
What about it?
>and the legendary troop stat bloat
What's wrong with there being some crazy strong troops? They can keep things interesting in the later game and you can avoid them before that with a little thing called pathfinding. Nobody whinges about this in any other mod.
>and for the insane amount of grind built into the game with the custom knighthood order
All you really mean by this is that they take a long time to get powerful and that's how it SHOULD be. It isn't fun to quickly get access to OP knights and just steamroll everything, but when you've already taken over half the map it does make the endgame much less tedious getting to finally do so.
>the qualis gem economy
Again, what problem do you have with qualis gems? You need exactly 1 to make a CKO and you can get a free one from a chest in Rane with no effort.
>and trying to just maybe clear one patch of land of legendary spawns and the threat of eventide fucktwits for the peasantry to all be safely handwaved with
Are you trying to say that the economy gets crippled by peasants being intercepted by spawns? If so you're greatly exaggerating or have never played the mod.

>bandits that are functionally unbeatable until late game
>gear is either low rez or half assed recolor
>everyone has some ultra OP units that you have to raise your own to beat but can't because you can't fight the invincible bandits or the invincible lords
It's not challenging, it's just garbage design that you have to game the system to even be able to play.
What's the general opinion here regarding Perisno?
>>124132682
Did you seriously just imply that a band of 30-60 sea raiders is equal to 200 cavalry in armor that you literally cannot damage with early game gear?
>>124131768
>This to say nothing of the debate about whether or not the fact that it has a guided mission is a *good* thing, but that's an opinion
"Guided mission" literally just means conquer everything, which is already the only feasible mission in M&B, plus make friends with the elves. There is absolutely nothing forcing you to do it if you don't want. If you ignore the mission, the experience will be IDENTICAL to regular M&B. There just happens to be an option to get "yay you win" achievement if you tick some boxes. How terrible.
>What isn't an opinion is that this mod fellates elven cock
Just join the fucking Ebony Gauntlet.
>There's also the small matter of the Pendor culture peasant troops all being objectively and *decidedly* shit, because of reasons
They're not that bad at all, I used them extensively. Pendor just isn't a typical M&B style specialist faction with a troop that's really good at something, instead they have cheap and easy to train troops that are decent in mass numbers. Getting a large force of Pendor Armored Bowmen is easy and they're effective in sieges if not as good as Ravenstern Rangers.
>And the mod gets pissy if it thinks you're cheating
It only prevents you getting the winning achievement which apparently you don't like anyway.

>>124138898
It makes cavalry even more useless, if they do actually hit someone on the initial charge their lance breaks so now they're stuck with short range melee weapons that barely reach the ground beside them. Along with the fact they like to stand around in mobs with their lance doing nothing, and they never bother to switch.

wut? The closest thing to "invincible" armies are Noldor and their strength actually makes the game easier to beat due to incentives to make them allies.
The Heretic Armies compete but they tend to bulk out their army with a lot of junk troops. Beat the initial waves and its a cake walk.
Jatu are pretty challenging -- Nah. Players just whine when they are faced with their own mass Swadian Knight style cavalry swarm.
>>124133226
That you seem to think that you MUST fight a random 200 Cavalry bandit army that you can easily flee from is pure autism. And no, if you aren't an idiot you CAN actually take down high tier enemies like Rogue Knights at very low levels. (Warhammer with decent power strike and Lance being the most obvious).
>>124143225
How the fuck do you think you'll get income if you can't fight the bandits or the lords, retard? Just because you cheat in money doesn't automatically make your meme mod good.
>>124143225
And how do you make them allies? Spend years of your life trying to kite the motherfuckers into enemy armies until they don't want to kill you anymore. Then, when they don't want to kill you anymore, you can't kite them because they won't follow you. So you have to try and chase enemy forces into them like some kind of fucking cattle herding mission. It's nightmare shit.

I wonder would it would be like to make a mod where all NPCs have absurd stats (1000 STR/AGI) and armies are massive. Not really. In Warphillia everyone is capped at 7 power strike (WTF) and has absurdly bloated HP and proficiency. Further -- While troop numbers on the field are large it is reduced to normal Warband sizes on the field (so 7000vs7000 becomes ~200vs200 in actuality). The only purpose the ~7000 troop sizes serve is to make it impossible to compete as a unaligned character.
That combined with the terrible porn and crashes made me reluctantly hate the Warphillia and Warwolf.

I know but it's still decent and they get excellent armour, would it be good idea to send fully kitted swede infantry with polearms as a vanguard then send in the marksmen to sit on top of the walls to shoot down? >>124167123
I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be possible, it's not like we need to use python for modding Warband because the game is coded in python; the python is literally just to generate the .txt files read in by the engine. The game could be coded in any other language. Hell, if you wanted to, you could write your OWN module system for Warband in any other language you liked; it'd be a pain in the ass but you could do it.
>>124167461
Yeah but the game won't sport a module system so that's why I'm wondering.
Thanks for the explanation though.
>>124167738
I'm not sure how to interpret them saying there won't be a module system, I've never modded any other game so I don't know how it typically works. I would assume there's still some sort of modding interface that's separate from the game engine itself, so they can be coded in different languages as they do different things, but otherwise it might just work because of compatibility between C++ and C#? I haven't even looked at C# yet, but I've learned some C and C++ and I know that for example you could write C programs that work as C++ programs and C++ programs that work as C programs. Doesn't make sense though to use a different language with limited compatibility instead of just the same language, so I assume it's the first thing I said. I just don't know what form the modding interface would take.

>>124151470
Kind of. Warwolf has inflated stats and lets you play gamebreakingly huge battles.
Good luck running a battle with 2500 troops though.
But if you're up for something that's just crazy and full of super strong things, Blood & Steel or tweaked Warsword might be better choices.

Blood and Steel is legitimately the mostfunM&B experience I've had.
>>124185670
Silverstag is basically the successor to Floris, so a native setting expansion, pretty much.

>Blood and Steel is legitimately the mostfunM&B experience I've had
It's been a while since I played it, but it's a ton of fun. I didn't know what I was in for once I selected barbarian.
>>124185670
It's set in Calradia, same as vanilla Warband. It has alot of features from Floris since it it being developed by the same team, but it has certain differences that make it completely different.
>It dropped the moneylenders & landowners feature so that money isn't completely irrelevant late game.
>It reinterprets the whole recruitment, trading troop trees for troop types that have to be recruited individually and can be trained to make them more proficient, but not give them new gear.
>Adds a feature that allows you to commission custom weapons and armors for a higher price in any town.
>Adds the Silverstag Emblem Token system, that gives you Silverstag Emblems earned during tournaments, certain quests, and the New Oathbound system which, can then be traded for ability, attribute and weapon points, hurrying the building of fief improvements, book-reading, reduce recruitment costs, etc.
>Version 27 replaces the Freelancer system with the new Oathbound system, that gives the player the option to advance in ranks in an army by performing different tasks for the lord and eventually earn knighthood and even become a lord through the system. Your pay will depend on your general reputation as a soldier, your relation with the lord and your abilities and those of your companions.

Some people think the new recruitment system is weird though, and would rather play Floris instead, which is much more similar to a vanilla experience, but I do like it and recommend you at least trying it.

>>124196718
Well Native Warband is anachronistic too.
>>124196718

>>124149883
Anybody? Really desperate for a 16th Century mod that isn't complete shit.
>>124195326
Oh, you mean abilities.
They are part of a new feature that adds bonuses and new abilities to certain troops and your companions. These abilities give them bonuses depending on the troops stats and other members of your party, so now leveling up some of your companions around certain skills makes them even more deadly in combat and efficient as captains of your army.
For example, all companions unlock specific abilities as they level up. They all earn their first ability at level 5, a second one at level 12, and a third one at level 20.
Matheld earns Berserk at level 5 which gives her an even larger health bonus depending on her Ironflesh skill. Quite simple.
She unlocks Boundless Endurance at 12, which makes her sprinting ability (an ability all npcs and the player have that lets them sprint for a period of time), makes her sprinting faster and maker her endurance bar (a new bar added by silverstag similar to the health bar that is used whenever you sprint) bigger. Boundless Endurance also reduces the effects of the Combat Hampering system the mod adds, which basically reduces your movement speed and the damage you can deal with weapons depending on your level of health.
She finally unlocks Bloodlust at level 20, which makes her deal more melee and ranged damage at the cost of ranged accuracy the lower her health becomes.
All these abilities bonuses combined with leveling Matheld to benefit from these abilities make her a great melee combatant, but a mediocre ranged combatant or a Party Role Manager (another feature added by Silverstag) compared to other companions.
The player can unlock a total of six abilities, each every five levels, and they vary in function depending on the player build you cant to create. Some of these abilities also have synergy bonuses, which benefit from having chosen other abilities that compliment them.

It's somewhat bloated. A lot of the units don't have significant differences, but some do. It functionally allows you to specialize a bit more at the cost of efficiency.
Mostly a matter of opinion, Floris is fine.
>>124199760
In other words, you should play some mods.

>map feels too small

Consider playing AD1257.
>I want to tell some of my companions to not fight, and run if need be, and have that be their default battle-order, so I don't have to say it at the start of every battle.
The mod you want for this is PBOD.
>>124199760
1. Map is pretty small. There is other mods with way bigger maps though.
2. Guildmaster quests aren't worth doing unless they have to do with finding bandits.
3. Seige system does suck. Some mods try to fix this.
4. You can't build shit. The cities are samey, but different for each territory. I don't think you need to build anything either. This isn't Civ V.
5. Better Banners mod. You'll like it. As for someone getting the same banner as you? Well that is your new arch-enemy. Rejoice!
>>124199760
Also. If you want certain people to not fight, why not just make a new command tier and have them stay back?
Maybe put them with some unique troops like Hired Blades or Sword Sisters so they have body guards aswell.

I don't think this was the issue, the issue is that he has to specifically tell that group to hold back every time, instead of them doing it by default.

>>124201106
it's a mod called warwolf
there's a commonly used formations system called PBOD in mods that lets you make units into formations like ranks, wedge etc
if you're playing native, you can enable a rudimentary formations system that makes your men form ranks but only ranks, if you open your module.ini in your MountBlade Warband/Modules/Native folder, scroll to the bottom, and change use_advanced_formation to 1
Does anyone know when warwolf might get updated?

yes. villages are inconsequential but be careful who you give your castles and towns to.
>>124182184
It gives you more stuff to do through greatly expanded town/castle management, heartbeat quests and knighthood order quests; making your own custom knighthood order is neat (if you have the patience and make the small tweak needed to skip wait times on equipment) and there's a lot of neat little things that get easily overlooked, like
>Instead of the typical generic "Village Farmers" parties, they're actually village specific e.g. "Ruvar Village Farmers" and if you help them in battle you get a relation boost with their home village
>On the world map, you can see the owning lord's flag flying over villages as well as castles/towns
>As king you can set the stats of your vassals the same way you do companions if they level up, so you can give them greater pathfinding for example
The early game is difficult, but in the late game you can get super powerful. You don't just have to recruit and train your own knights; if you have a knighthood order and go to war as king, the order will often put together a war party of hundreds of knights and sergeants that follows you around joining you in battle and attacking your enemies that you don't have to pay a cent for. On top of that you can hire a variety of different mercenary companies; some are cavalry focused and good for field battles and others are all infantry/crossbowmen that are good for sieges.
Money actually matters and there's ALWAYS something to invest in (CKOs and town/castle upgrades).

They only prevent you getting "hurr you win good job" achievement, I don't see why anybody who does use cheats would care about losing it. What's dumb is that cheats will disable it but importing in a character with 1000 in every attribute and 10 trillion shekels won't. Hell, I haven't actually tried it, but maybe even the cheat menu which gives you a "click to conquer town/castle" option won't disable it, I vaguely recall reading that it's only triggered by ctrl+alt+F4 and ctrl+H.

probably because WFAS is based on an older version of warband, warband has some features from WFAS now built into the game
i do like the merc thing in WFAS too, and the fact ammo shows what damage type it is
>>124218907
Warsword, for as unpolished and aged as it is, did guns a lot of justice. It falls short in other areas, but update soon, haha, right guys, haha HAHA?
Swede Mayo hits a pretty damn good balance, both with the power and accuracy of matchlocks relative to bows and crossbows, but also with the power and length of its polearms. It has *real* polearms. I don't know why it's been so hard to find, but god damn.

I'm not sure what mod you're using but one part helps is being friends with the lords and trying to get them to join you. Especially the ones that hate their faction leaders since they are easier to make join you. But yeah, starting a faction takes some preperation. Having a lot of gold is one way but just waiting for the ideal time to start invading is also fine.

so I should use money to get peace then improve relations with the faction as a whole? I guess I'll spend alot more time preparing this time round

I wish they'd release the update and nerf my Dwarfs already to kill my interest.
>>124229165
If they hate you bribing wont help much. There are so many reasons they can hate you that its better to just make better preperations like waiting for all your neighbors to be at war and the faction you invade being weak. Like if you own a castle they even THINK they should own theyll declare war on you ignoring the relation you two have.
Ruffians are so fucking pathetic.

How do I become as cool looking as Count Tellrog?
>>124234669
First, find out his face value. Change your own to be identical.
Then find out what items he wears. Use cheats to get those items.
Change your banner to his banner, and your name to "Count Tellrog", then become a vassal of King Graveth.
You are Count Tellrog, Anon. And it's your job to make sure that imposter using your name and appearance gets fucked over.

The values are coming from registers, which apparently the turks didn't see the need to set the value of before that screen comes up so if they're used by a mod for anything itself it gets fucked. I don't even fucking understand how it works normally.

Is it better for a country to have more lords than fiefs, or more fiefs than lords starting out?
>>124239602
More fiefs than lords. You can give a lord multiple fiefs, but with too many lords to even let them all have one each, relations are going to deteriorate extremely fast. How would this affect your decision making though? You can probably recruit lords as fast as you're capable and not get too many.

Native Mods > Fantasy Mods > Historical Mods

i think historical mods are the hardest to make though
>>124248124
Whats difficult about them? The map and factions are already determined, copy and paste the same troops, wiki some weapons and armors. Finally add in some cringe worthy text and some half assed features and implement them in the worst ways.

say whatever about the mod but that intro is fucking horrible

1257 has plenty of stupid shit lines in it too, and there's Warwolf where no amount of slav magic won't make it sound completely retarded.
Why does /mbg/ always devolve into mod arguments? Most these don't even cost money, why are you so invested? At least lets have fun arguments over which faction is bets. Rhodoks suck, Sarranids based

>>124253817
You know what I mean. Just weird some people are so invested in a mod that they would argue for thirty posts. I guess I shouldn't underestimate the autism of others
>>124254138
As one of the people you're referring to, I'm really not very invested in the mod at all. I haven't played it in ages (I did one playthrough), I never bring it up first, I don't even bother recommending it if people ask for recommendations; there are other mods I like better. But there are particular people on this board who have a huge irrational hateboner for it and I'm tired of their shitty arguments. There are no rabid fanboys here, I don't think I've EVER seen somebody defend it in this general without specifically saying that they think it's far from a perfect mod and the authors are cunts. Why do we (yes, there's more than 1 person) get questioned about making these arguments and not the people who can't stop bringing up how much they hate a mod they don't seem to have played for more than 5 minutes?
Yes it's mostly pointless to argue about shit on the internet, but a) this is 4chan and b) I'd prefer that people new to the thread at least just try it for themselves and form their own opinion instead of avoiding it like the plague because all they see here is vitriol against it.
Why the fuck isn't anyone talking about ACOK 2.1, it's coming out on Saturday

>>124255146
this is why i say try whatever mod you're interested in
warband is one of the only games i've played where most mods are subjective
ES games are a good example of the average modded game: they have loads of mods but there are the top objectively good mods and most of the rest are mediocre or plain shit
personally i'm a historyfag, but i don't care if people play PoP or whatever
every mod has got flaws but most every mod has benefits, unless it's literally reskinned native or just unfinished

Is there a way to start a faction while remaining in good terms with your old one?
I'm Graveth's vassal, he refused to give me Suno which I conquered single handedly so I can start shit over this but I'd prefer keeping the rhodoks as my allies.
Playing Floris expanded by the way.
