As one of the faster generals, there's no reason to create a thread right at bump limit. It'll usually take 2 hours before it's purged after hitting the limit, and this way we don't bump off slower moving generals by having 10 threads up at once that are all just past the bump limit.

Anyone else disappointed with the minutemen fluff? I think that between the fluff and the gameplay, they are just aren't an appealing faction.
You unite all these people, supposedly, and then there is no payoff. So it feels like they are just all gonna fuck off back home or something instead of nation building or creating a standing army and stuff. Especially when your rank is essentially meaningless to most minutemen.
Finally, it's incredibly jarring to have this narrative of "gonna find mah baby" then be thrown into "hey I know you wanna find your kid, but why not help out all these people with their random problems and build an army and stuff?".
I can see it making sense after visiting the institute and deciding to take it down, maybe. But then you can also side with the BoS and have more guaranteed stability than peasant fuckwits.
Finally, why was the first mission to clear out an entire raider complex by yourself? Hell even with power armor fluff wise that's still unwise without support.
Do you all think bethesda will patch in/dlc more minutemen characters? How about the rest of the story and missions, do you think DLC will address the emptiness of their endings and such? Really I think the only ones that feel even remotely decent playing afterwards are RR and BoS, because you aren't a leader in those and the impact of the ending isn't as immediate on those two factions (BoS will still continue pacifying wasteland, RR will probably continue helping synths/disperse). The minutemen could continue building and you could be all like "well I'm developing stuff and growing things". But with how disparate and apathetic the minutemen are, its just pathetic.
I want some feedback on these thoughts, I'm just pretty disappointed and I want to avoid them in the next playthrough, or get them to sanctuary and ignore them.

Thing is, the Brotherhood seems to offer 'stability', but is there even any indication they'll stick around in the Commonwealth after the Institute and the synths are dealt with? It sounded like D.C. was being left to a contingent of Rivet City guards (which was now left without a reactor), caravan mercs, and presumably something like Reilly's Rangers laying around to continue the water trade and fight off the remaining mutants as well as the raiding groups.
Like, without the Brotherhood in D.C. the Capital Wasteland seems pretty fucked for the time that they're in the Commonwealth. Seemed like it would've been another good ending choice for the non-BoS routes to convince them to stand down and take off somehow (Railroad would be a bit hard but maybe using a built-up well-connected Minutemen/CPG faction, or a synth army via the Institute cutting off teleporter access to the BoS). But then again, there aren't too many inter-faction choices so maybe this is asking a lot.

Other things could be highly improved on. It's not a perfect game granted. But still nothing that warrants buyers remorse. I feel I got exactly what I played for with the game. As far as things like bugs. It took, I kid you not, well over 100 hours in to encounter any game breaking bugs and only a couple of hard crashes. I haven't even encountered that weird body meatspin glitch yet. The GECK isn't even out yet, but the modding community is still producing decent work around mods for a lot of the games little flaws. Over all I know I've only skimmed the surface of the hour count I'll end up with before I get completely bored with it so together.

Morrowind NPCs did it without mods if I'm not mistaken.

There was a bug in pre-release New Vegas (and presumably in FO3) where NPCs would also regard each other as "containers". Because their script actually required them to have food items and water on them at all times if no other food or drink was available they would try to take it from the closest animal or NPC, resulting in murder.
According to Sawyer this is why all New Vegas NPCs naturally spawn with food and water, because they couldn't figure out how to prevent people from ganking each other in the streets.

So unfortunately I had to spawn in a container before jumping into the cryo pod, dumped everything in it and then went through the scenes

The minutemen mean well but they're so pitifully weak that they make the first guy to kill a few raiders leader of their cause. They would never make it as a governing body.
The Railroad is basically PETA. They're so focused on the singular goal of "liberating" synths that they're blind to the world around them and the effect they're having on it. Again, they can do good but are in no position to bring order or peace to the commonwealth.

I mean, it was talked about last thread but it's a real bummer how the Minutemen just fizzle out and there isn't even a half-baked attempt at restarting an NCR-esque project after you go through the trouble of protecting all these settlements and getting them viable trade routes and all. Sure, in the beginning Ronnie doesn't trust you and even towards the end that group of MM don't take your rank seriously when you try to talk them down, but you'd think after wiping out the Institute and doing all these defence/assistance missions you'd get a little more clout in-faction. Sadly, the only people who seem to acknowledge it are Preston, Sturges, and Ronnie, who barely get a quest a piece (if you can call Sturges' bit a 'quest'), and the occasional Minutemen checkpoint soldiers you come across. It's just that ultimately it doesn't come to any conclusion or add up to any meaningful totality, it's just like "yeah, they're there".
