Feels good mang, A-10 fanboys are the worst. They advocate the use of an obsolete aircraft because muh BRRRRRRRRRRRT.

It's more the ability to carry a ton of ordnance and dump it, while remaining slow enough to minimize the number of passes needed.

I get that it's more popular in EU, but all I really need is one populated server. It doesn't really matter if there's 200 servers or 1, since you can only play on one at a time anyways.

>>
>>123786906
Multi-roles are able to do the same job while not needing to rely on other aircraft. A-10s cant even fly in lightly defend air defense systems, they are literally flying targets

top kek A10 babbys will still defend it though
>>
>>123787843
I saw the inventory of the german units at kursk. I can't be bothered to find them, but since you're claiming there were whole units of tigers, i'd like to see your reason for thinking that.

There were 2 groups of panthers though, around 100 in each.

"Heavy Tank Battalions" existed. I'm not going to claim there were Tiger divisions or even brigades, there clearly weren't. But these heavy tank battalions could and did have up to, or more than 30 Tigers at a time, and that Webm probably depicts one.

The Initial attack in fact was spearheaded by 45 Tigers belonging to 505th Heavy Tank Battalion.
-Clark, Lloyd (2012). Kursk: The Greatest Battle: Eastern Front 1943.
>>
>>123786478
What do I replace them by?
>>
>>123789501
A Battalion in WW2 is a platoon in WW3.
>>
>>123788768

Surprising, because the Grossdeutschland alone had a heavy tank battalion permanently assigned to it, and I know two other heavy tank battalions were present for Citadel. Max strength for one of those battalions is 45 Tigers, and per wiki the 503rd had 42 of 45 combat ready 4 days before the battle.

Jagers are weak infantry alone, they derive their power from spammability. At 10+5pts per squad they can cost efficiently destroy spets, at 10+10 they don't. Strong shock or SF like RIMA, Legion, or FSJ should be taken in more expensive wheeled transports because you don't buy as many of them.

LNS listed a whole bunch of tech that is going to be featured in an upcoming module and the JA 37 seems to fit all of them.

Viggen was designed for hit and run slashing attacks, it bleeds speed like a motherfucker in a turn. iirc since Sweden knew they'd be fucked trying to fight off the VVS in furballs it was better just to use hit and run + datalinked flights with decent BVR to slap out as many as possible then leg it back to base. Main advantage on its side is Technology™, and lots of it.

if it is the Viggen they better give it the Swedish AIM-4

>>
>>123801346
I don't know where you got that. LNS has been F-14 levels of hinting at the Viggen. That's a given at this point.

The only question is what the other plane is, and considering they were modeling a low quality version of A6M gear (presumably for an AI plane) and had the picture of a cockpit of a Corsair a while ago in an F-14 teaser image, their other plane is possibly a Corsair, although that one is less certain.

Can an East German regiment fight through 15 kilometers of challengers in 6 hours?
>>
>>123793084
http://www.cgsc.edu/CARL/nafziger/943GGBA.pdf

Lists the German OOB, compiled from sources at the end of the pdf. 503rd, 505th, and 507th Heavy Panzer Battalions served at Kursk, in addition to Grossdeutschland's organic heavy panzer battalion. 503rd and 505th were armed with Tiger Is, 507th was reorganized on the eve of battle into another unit and was comprised of Panthers. Grossdeutschland's 3rd Panzer Battalion was armed with 14 Tiger tanks, and another 12 were present in the SS Liebstandarte Adolf Hitler division. Das Reich and Totemkopf's numbers are not listed, but I wouldn't be surprised if they both had a Tiger battalion as well. So yes, there were definitely more than just 12 Tigers at Kursk.

There's no special strategy for the maps that doesn't apply to general gameplay. In addition, rigid strategies tend to fall apart in war game because the matches are so fluid and every deck has a different set of units you can exploit/have to look out for. Just outright asking for strategies for these maps is retarded, go watch some pro player replays and copy what they do if you really need your hand held that much.
>>
>>123826183
you're lazy for asking, actually think about the map next time instead of mindlessly deploying counters that other people told you

>>
>>123825067
Oh, rushing is an ok strategy, but I suggested a way how to kill a rush.

I guess my strategies don't use rushes past midway, only how to stifle them. I love it when the enemy rushes since I usually know how to stop it and use it for my advantage.

On nuclear winter, going across the bridges with a lot of tanks and AA is hardly expected and will throw off most people. You need to have air superiority fighters though to cover them as they are crossing though. Do this mid or later game. You want to give him enough time to get most of his fighting force up in the front lines while you barely hold him off. Build up on the otherside of the river and launch it when you feel you have enough to make a difference.

Give another map name and I'll try to give you a suggestion.

I know you're just shitposting, but for the benefit of anyone who happens to be listening, I'll explain.

R-27ETs actually outrange the R-77, even in head on engagements. Although you shouldn't really be trying to fight an F-15 head on, you can sometimes make it work when you're against a really cocky F-15 that doesn't crank as soon as he fires off an AMRAAM.

In a head on engagement (which again, you really shouldn't be doing, but shit happens), what I typically do is fire one off at almost max range. Basically, as soon as the ET gets a "tone" I fire away a single one and then immediately turn tail. By the time you're in range for an ET shot, he's already fired at least one AMRAAM and the ET doesn't need you guiding it so there's no reason to keep flying in his direction. For extra misdirection, lock him up with your radar before you fire and turn around.

At that point, if he's an idiot, he'll fly right into your ET thinking you're not guiding an ER anymore. This works a lot more often than it really should.

Aside from that, I carry a 2 R-27ET and 4 R-73 loadout on the MiG-29 because you'll rarely be in a position to guide an ER all the way into its target, and the fire and forget capability is too valuable. As long as you're doing hit and run attacks while popping up from over mountains, you'll be fine with just IR missiles and you'll be playing to the MiG-29's strengths. The MiG-29 has a crappy radar, so it's kinda not especially useful in the BVR arena.

>>123833878
The thing with ETs is that they're actually very easy to spoof, but if you're doing it right, your target won't ever know you've even fired on them. That's why the extra range is so valuable. It lets you make silent IR kills from much further out than you normally would with just R-73s.

R-27ETs are one of my favorite missiles in the game. They're a wonderful tool in the sneeki breeki arsenal of the game's Russian fighters.

You also need to be sure you killed all their nukebombers. Nothing stops a well orchestrated rush like clusterbombs/artillery.

Good man.

What plane is it? EOS means russian and given the number of pylons I assume it's a mig-29?
>>
>>123868793
It's from the POV of a Su-27, the victim is an F-15.

You can see the wingtips in the mirrors and tell it's a flanker

In DCS or real life? In real life it's a lot more than just that like >>123849231 said.

In DCS, if you take away the AMRAAM, the F-15 still has a much better radar and better big picture SA with its RWR, but the fire and forget advantage then goes to the Russians with the R-27ET. However, at least with the ET you get a big missile plume if you see the launch. With the AMRAAM's (and even the AIM-9M to a lesser extent) smokeless motor you'll never see the launch. The AIM-9M, although not as maneuverable as the R-73, is much more difficult to spoof and has a surprisingly long reach.

Kinematically, the F-15 is still faster and can climb like a rocket.

I think in an AMRAAMless DCS, the F-15 would have a harder time against the Russian planes because of their EOS. I've always felt that the EOS was the "balancing factor" if you want to call it that, to the AMRAAM's powerful fire and forget capability.

Fighting with only Sparrows and Sidewinders is a little awkward, and definitely requires you to change up your tactics and rely less on your radar. It's also a really fun way to fly the F-15.

Every once in a blue moon some server runs AIM-7 vs R-27R/T and it is more fun than it may sound like.

You'd think the advantage would go to red because of the R-73 when the combat is forced closer, but i find the sparrow actually is a good missile within its limited range compared to the ER or AIM-120.
>>
>>123870276
That's because the range on the R-27R is appalling and the R-27T is just a bit longer than the 73.

Anything that gives me an excuse to use Sparrow missiles makes me happy. They are my guilty pleasure and I always take at least 4 when I fly out in the F-15.

So run it along side China and their magical 3 per card SEAD.
