I think to deal with Illaoi is by fighting her pre-6 since post-6 is pretty much skill match-up since she needs to hit her E. If she hits her E, you can't fight back since she has her R up unless you do some Faker shit and dodge these tentacles.
Irelia is pretty good against Illaoi pre-6, I think, because she's an all-in or just a short trading monster like Jax.
If she wastes her E and possibly her Q, you can go in I suppose.

Pretty much.
The cooldown is pretty high on E, about 20 seconds level 1. You can't really respond to her whiffing a Q or a W because Q has a 6 second cooldown on level 5 and W has a 6 second cooldown level 1. Her Q is at 10 seconds cooldown at level 1, so, you could punish her for whiffing that early game but once she gets BC or just a CDR item, you're kinda in a rough spot and to only farm.
