they are effective every 7-10 minutes. I take one before a strike, then of the icon is gone after that strike, I pop another right away.
most strikes take 6-12 minutes, so using a 3oC whenever the symbol goes away works (do not take one if the symbol is still there, while they do stack, it doesn't appear to be a good usage of them)

Ive recently discovered the Taken events that Spawn on Patrol, if you use a 3oC before the Champion that spawns those may have a higher chance than Strikes of dropping engrams. You can solo them pretty easy if you stay out of fire and use your sniper to make headshots consistently, then pop a Special synth and repeat till finished. Had two drop last night on separate Patrols, both on Earth, but Ive had no luck the last few days on strikes or taken patrol missions.

what I do know is that if you take it immediately after a strike, you have 2 minutes of stats screen/ loading into the new strike, then two of the strikes don't have a boss that triggers 3oC anyways, so you are averaging using a 3oC once every 10-15 minutes, and that assumes you are averaging 10 minutes per strike, which you won't be until you hit the 280's

It's fun to use in general, and the most unique gun in the game. It has it's own custom sound and you know it's thorn everytime it's shot, custom bullet (it shoots literal thorns) bullet path is a green death laser, and it turns enemies green and eats them. Using this in Y1 was so fun, wish they left the DOT the same, 3 is too weak, it's the same damage it did pre-buff. At least it stacks, I guess.

Bullet spray works against those guns because Chaperone is a guaranteed 2 shot at most shotgun ranges, where those guns are not. With 4th Horseman you're almost always going to shoot more shots than you need thanks to its insane fire rate and then you're fucked with its shit reload rate.
