It's meant to be like that, just awkwardly translated. It's just extra bonus damage. It's harmless on shrink but if you kill something with the damage from swell you don't actually get double drops from them, since the swell happens after the damage. It's left unclear if Vakarine was involved, but we do know that the other Demon Lords in there betrayed him and separated his soul into various pieces in other to steal his power, and spread the rest outside into the world so that he wouldn't be able to try and reform.
Since he's a lawful evil badass he used some remaining pieces of his soul to manipulate retarded niggas outside into opening a portal into the prison (all that ritualistic bullshit in the Baron areas), and then cooperated with you and the Goddesses to get his revenge on the Demon Lords that betrayed him. He wasn't dumb though, and was aware that the Goddesses were only helping him in order to backstab him and use his soul as fuel to seal the Demon Prison away forever before he could fully reform.
So he gives you that warning about trusting no one not even yourself, but you still side with the Goddesses and fight him before he can regain his powers like the EXP card whore that you are, and Vakarine ends up succeeding in fucking him over and sealing him and the place down.

It is, that is 50 points you don't have to put into DEX and you can put into STR (which has 60% increase at rank 6, so 80 STR).
You are not really going to get higher than level 5 green gems for your equipment unless you really go out of your way to do so, so the extra crit from Finestra really helps you stay within a good range of critical hits.
More STR also means higher return value from Deeds of Valor.

You can also see that the icewall mostly broke early in. I don't know if that's normal but when I had my ice rod, made the wall as a level 6 rather than 5 spell, then switched to my staff for wacking I know it didn't do that. So maybe a cryo 3 with higher level icewall would pull out a lot more because the wall survived.

I've been working on a guide myself and putting in the time to actually do it instead of relying on what's sometimes wrong (tosbase/tosdatabase).
It'll be much too indepth though so I'm working on two versions of it.
I'm also doing mine on google sheets atm so I can also calculate EXP gain per map and translate that to levels.
