Hi all,
the anti-zerg mechanic takes the number of attackes into account.
The damage reduction % increases with the total number of attackers.
The damage reduction is stronger on melee characters
Over-focusing somebody might actually be counterproductive too many low DPS characters are part of the group that does the focus firing.
In group combat, you will probably want to attack/disrupt in the following order: healers, ranged support, ranged damage dealers, bruisers, tanks
Focus firing with more than 5 players is - on average - probably not really worth it
Having said all that, as this is beta, of course we are watching how the test goes in order to fine tune all numbers and values where required. Nothing is set in stone, we can easily make the focus fire protection stronger or weaker if required.

Right now we actually think it is working really well. It is btw not primarily a Anti zerg mechanic (it is a side effect of it).
A few thoughts about it:
FYI Melee users get a stronger dmg reduction
This way a melee user can jump in a group of people and is more protected that way
It requires way better coordination in a large group
We want to have meaningfull spells, but unlike a MOBA we can never say how many people are there on the battlefield
... so if we create a powerful spell what happens when X people focus one person
... if we wouldnt do that the balancing nightmare would be twice as big
... having said that I hate insta kills, especially in a game where there is full loot I want to see slowly how I am dying ;)
I also believe that calling focus targets is the most boring strategy in MMOs. We wanted to offer different strategies and solutions for that

Probably swords since some of them have increased threat and spells that reduce damage taken. I decided to try out the spear line and while I'm only on first one it's not that impressive.
More of a pvp weapon since you got two skills that lowers movement speed and one of them increases your own. All the while you attack fast but very low damage.
Axes seem to be more bleed maces stun and so on.
