You need to reach Demon Flash mobs fairly fast or they just buff themselves to an insane degree off the minions they kill before you get there. Also don't use overheads.

i'm trying to find out what kind of armor i should get my hands on. i'm focused primarily on PVM and use melee.

Should get you close to around 85 I'd say, but you can always calculate the exact amount of xp gain from charms by just multiplying it by the xp you get per familiar you're going to make (for example 3270x325,6 for a granite lobster) and see how much xp that'll get you in total.

In all fairness, I never saw the appeal behind saving up in order to get a certain skill from level X to level/goal Y. Just train a few levels when you have the money for it and tag them off 1 by 1. And with the right gear, you don't need to worry about repair costs while making money either; every single gp you get can be spend without having to worry about repairing gear.

Considering the discussion right this second is about shitty elite slayer monsters, I wish Jagex took a step back and realised how awful they, and any further ideas of them, are.
They're trying to pass off getting excessively and unavoidably damaged as high-end combat, and that's been the theme for a lot of recent bosses/monsters.
I miss the days where they'd at least dump a variety of levels of the same enemy. Less XP and worse drops for the lower level variants, but actually possible.

The problem is Jagex can't give them 100k guaranteed drops to make up for being harder after being idiots and handing all of the xp and money in the world to mobs which you can get 1k killcount in an hour with no effort.
The elite slayer mobs should've been exclusive to the elf slayer master, it would've solved a lot of complaints.

I think they're trying to fix this by buffing old monsters, see aquanites for example.

I have an air talisman, a shitload of air runes, and pure essence but when I go to the fire altar nothing happens.
If i take a fire talisman and go in it just makes regular fire runes. How the hell do I do this shit.

bring fire talisman, air talisman (unless you're using magic imbue, then you don't need talisman), air runes, and essence, then use air runes on the fire altar
you won't make all 26 runes either, get binding necklaces if you want to make 100% of them
