It's not, it's just that most of the internet is too casual and can't beat it. All you need is a good strategy, like for every single final boss in the series.

Warrior's Might team full of Swashbucklers, Tagen Battou solo or with 1 support, 3 Yggdroids. Those are the least annoying team combinations to deal with it.
WM wants to kill each form almost immediately, so everyone else is on 2 weapon swashbuckling duty. Crit boosts on the Swashbucklers are helpful, they all main Shogun for double weapons from Second Sword. Chaser is usually a Gladiator so they can use Charge the turn before and get the damage boost from their class specific passive.
Tagen Battou is a bit more tricky, so there's a few things you can do with that one, like having a support unit to negate elemental attacks and/or buff/heal the primary attacker and its Bunshin. Yggdroid/Ninja has the best evasion potential, but Zodiac/Ninja has the strongest Bunshin explosions, so that's another interesting option. Maining Gladiator allows the use of Charge for more damage from the move, ideal for quick kills.
For 3 Yggdroids, most of the damage is going to come from one spamming HP Cannon at 5% HP, the other two use bots to reflect elements, possibly cover the cannon, and heal each other and the bots. Setup here is pretty variable, though Zodiac is useful on one of the bot users for extra damage from the Reflectors. Hoplite can be useful for covering the HP Cannon user on turns they don't have Indomitable at the ready. On the primary attacker, Monk or Gladiator are both useful, though they'll be spending most of their turns triple bound so getting HP down with level 10 Berserker Vow is probably the most useful thing they can do with a subclass. Passive healing from Ascetic Deeds can help with surviving an attack, but also reduces their max damage and makes them rely on Overheat for lowering HP safely.

Its pattern for the second form randomizes when it hits 75% HP, and its damage taken/received skyrockets after a sufficient number of turns have passed, so for a "regular" team, they'll want to get its HP to around that point, then stall until it goes berserk and try to take it out the following turn, which requires REALLY good burst damage potential. Either that or spread your elemental defenses across 3 characters and stack up on physical resist accessories so you can safely whittle it down from whatever's left if you can't kill it from 75%. A bit of both is ideal if you can't or for some reason don't want to use one of the three setups listed in >>123500810

I'd say it depends on how often you're being effected by the status effect in question. If it's being used often and you don't really have anything else you'd rather equip in your accessory slot then go for that. But if it's not too bad then you could do fine just using a skill.

It also depends on things like party setup or enemy. If you have a prince(ss) or monk or war magus, you can easily prevent or cure ailments without losing momentum. But if you're fighting, say, Scylla, then of course you'll want accessories to prevent her from melting you with Cry Soul if you don't have another way of preventing them.

Here is my autistic back-stories of my guild members.
Isami: joins the guld to further her training and escape her bloody family heritage. She doesn't realize that its her own bloodlust that drives her deeper into Labyrinths.
Chulainn: extremely loyal to her compatriots, and chivalrous even to monsters and foes. She knows Isami's true nature, but they are the closest of friends regardless.
Jeanne: born from a noble family of knights, and always doted upon Boadicea since they were little children. She abandoned her position and status to follow Boadicea upon learning of her exile.
Mnemosyne: extremely distrustful of others due to how adventures abandoned her beloved teacher to die in the hands of monsters. After being saved by Boadicea and certain events while being the guild, she finally opens to them and knows that she can trust them. She even reveals that her true name is actually Mirelle.
Boadicea: she was exiled to High Lagaard as a civil war erupted when her Uncle attempted to usurp the throne. She co-created the guild in hopes to grow stronger to someday restore order to her own kingdom. Along the journey, she realizes that it is not power or affluence that she is seeking, but being in one with the hearts and minds of the people that you trust and love the most.

Landsknetch male (Sword) : Pretty energetic, he likes to fight and argue about swords and axes with landsknetch female.
Landsketch female (Axe) : Lazy and serious, she also likes to argue with Landsknect male.
Survivalist: An obscure past, used to kill people for en but thanks to the guild now she can have a new life.
Protector: He likes to take a "leader" role but everyone ignores him,
Dark hunter male: Nice and calm dude but everyone is scared or him when he uses force boost.
Dark Hunter female: She's the only one that takes Protector seriously, she doesn't like to fight.

Hexer: The younger sister of Gunner, she likes to see the enemy suffer but only in battle.
Gunner:The older brother of Hexer, he's a piromaniac, always worried about his AGI and his gun.
War Magus: She came from other guild along with Beast, obsesed with en and weapons. She loves Dark hunter male.
Beast: Loyal but coward, he's always with Hexer.
Sovereign: She hates the labyrinth and monsters but she loves to help their companions with orders-
Highlander female: The strongest female of the guild but she doesn't care, her only goal is having a good life.
Highlander male: The leader of the guild, so he can get along with everyone.

In EMD the weapon the model carries changes, but not the sprite. All the sprites are statics, if you want that the equipment adapts, they should start using Models, it's far more time efficient.

Slow anon playing EO2U Classic here. Scylla is a fucking bitch. I don't have much in the way of mitigating her ice shit besides Beast's Force Boost, meaning I'm popping that on turn 3. Otherwise my strategy is completely sound for the first half of the fight, Alch uses Fire Palm whenever Scylla is alone/Riot Palm afterwards if Scylla is still alone, Inferno Formula if tentacle has been summoned. DH tries to get off poison/leg bind. Landshark dispenses Fire Chaser. In the back row Troubadour multitasks with keeping Warrior Song up as well as Fire Prelude on the frontrowers for max damage, and also tries to keep Beast alive, who mostly spams Hit-Taker. I pop Alch and Land's Force Boosts early in the fight and DH's as soon as she lands poison, after which I pray for leg bind during Boost or from Rose Prison, after which Ecstasy is go. I also try to stick Troub's Boost and Break in there somewhere to extend fighting ability and damage. But it all breaks apart sooner or later when Scylla starts summoning a tentacle every turn and Troubadour can't do double duty keeping buffs up and Beast alive. I've had a dozen fights go sour at the last sliver of her HP now with her using Lullaby/Tentacle Creep and the Cry Soul. I don't have much to combat that either except for lv1 Health Requiem. This is the 3rd stratum boss and my party is already level fucking 40. Despite all this bullshit it seems victory is only a couple favourable dice rolls away, DH's ailments and binds are just really unreliable in this fight and I can't finish it fast enough (<10 turns or so). I really do not feel like running around until I get some ailment prevention thing from grimoire trading or until I can spend a couple more skill points in Fire Chaser/Ecstasy/Alchemist's skills.
Not even really looking for advice, just venting frustration. Guess I'll keep trying.

So I'm a recent student turned poorfag since I moved out so I don't have as much money to spend on games anymore.
However after budgeting this month I determined I've got something like an extra $100 I can pocket for personal enjoyment.
So I was thinking of buying EO2U since I've played every single EO game and loved it a lotbut have never ever beaten one
Plus I love how the box set comes with nifty things like the artbook and soundtrack.
But I was also kinda worried since I played EO2 and often quit playing since party composition was almost always the same. Never use a medic, battle mages are op, etc, and assumed EOU2 would be more of that.
And I was also kinda wary since EO1U had the floor jumping and grimoires and other things that I really didn't want in an EO game, which probably means EO2U has the same.
How is the new EOU? Is it an improvement compared to EO2?will i be called a casual if i finish this instead of the original?

Untolds are remakes of game 1 and 2. They have a "Story Mode" and "Classic Mode". The first is about a pre-set party with story characters. Classic Mode is the way EO is usually played. You create characters classes and you go to explore the dungeon,

Tell me again which game lets you get away with equipping 3 accessories at a time(for the same type of resistance, no less), or lets any character reach max stats so they can use any skill they want from a subclass with no restrictions.
Segmented Dungeons? EOIII did that first, even if they were all labeled in the same floor system. It even had areas outside the dungeon you can visit to fight things, and sailing made time pass REALLY QUICKLY if you want to fight bosses or FOEs again in a hurry for some reason. Time doesn't pass nearly as quickly in IV's airships, but the areas you can visit are at least a bit more than a boss fight and goods exchange points.
The only other significant difference IV has from III aside from the balance changes is the skill progression, in particular the level locks and gathering skills. No longer having to put a bunch of points into masteries you're only increasing to learn skills means people can actually do useful shit when you want them to. Unless the crap you want is level locked, in which case it might have a prerequisite you need earlier skills for anyhow. Even if that's not the case there's usually some passives you can put a few points into while you wait, and if those turn out useless later, resting doesn't completely fuck you over anymore so there's room for some actual experimentation, not something I'd see a casual really trying to do often.I don't actually care which game is more casual than the others, I just thought these might be some interesting details to point out or argue about or something

I haven't completely finished III yet, but I'm not finding it especially difficult in comparison to IV. I'm guessing that this is because I'm already familiar with the series, while many people played III first. Heck, The Progenitor went down like a bitch compared to the amount of trouble I had with the Heavenbringer. I only struggled when I was being meme'd by lynxes on B1F and the difficulty spike in the fourth stratum.
I'd say that the series has been constantly experimenting and consistently improving. IV is much more refined than III at the penalty of things such as main classes being better than they should, difficulty is back in U but things like grimoires exist, and 2U remedies many of the issues in U but the bosses are HP walls until your party is capable of spitting out damage properly.

I'm pretty sure there's more to it than stat differences that make the game easier than the others though. If you could argue EOIV character stats are too high, one could say enemy stats in EOII are too low with how quickly they go down to concentrated damage from things like Midareba and Ecstasy. If anything, it's all the powerful options characters have at their disposal that makes the game too easy. Food items help make up for lack of accesory stacking, Runemasters can use Volt Rune and a bunch of elemental damage boosting stuff to ensure Galvanic Rune does decent damage to anything that didn't start with insane resistance to it, and hugely multihitting moves like Swift Edge and Squall Volley make linking far more effective than any soft of chasing prior to Warrior Might ever was, especially since links work off of hits rather than number of attacks .

It is about time for a wholesome EO game.
So I just bought EO4, and Etrian Mystery Dungeon, and I'm kinda hyped (i got into 3ds games really late since i'm a poorfag). I started playing EMD since i wanted to start off casual, though i noticed the game doesn't really feel challenging at all. More so with extreme power leveling your characters do when you leave them in forts, and the whole AI controlled party. Either way, i'm having fun with the game for what little I've played, I'm thinking of beating EMD, before starting EO4, but i'm not sure how long that will take.
Anyway, I wanted some of opinions on these two titles. Were they bad/good/so-so, and why?
I picked up EO4 because it was the only one i hadn't played so far, and i wanted it in my 3DS games. As for EMD, it's cute as fuck, and I like both EO and MD games, why not.

If you want element support, use their elemental shots. If you want bind support, use their bind shots. If you want free healing for the front row, put points in Cover Fire. If you have space in the front row to attack and a way to cover your gunner while they're up there, get point blank.
Charge/Burst Shots are pretty useful, as is Richochet, but you'll probably only have enough skill points for one or two of these if you want to make use of things like Double Action or one of the Charge skills.

One of the biggest advantages about them is their force skill, it works nearly 100% of the time on all random encounters and will always kill FOE's with red health remaining.
Make sure you put 1 point into each of their stance initiation skills. Having 3 different attack types will let you exploit any enemy physical weakness and works well early in the game.
Even if you don't have a tank in your party, they can survive well in the front line with either defensive buffs, or using their great evasion. It's pretty hard to mess up a ronin so anything will work. You don't need to reclass anyone into a ronin anyways, they're pretty good the way they are.

The way I usually do multi-man limits with clones is slap one part of the limit on the ninja character, then press B to go back, you can equip it this way as long as there's at least one other person there but...
