Can somebody explain this to me? Why the fuck am I forced to do the story quests in a game in order to access the new content. This seems to be shitty game design and forces the player to play the game only one way in order to level. To anyone who is new to this game, or is considering picking this up I have a few friendly tips for you all
1) Do NOT play with /vg/
2) Do NOT add anyone from /vg/
3) Do NOT join /vg/ servers
4) Do NOT add anyone related to /vg/ on social/instant messaging services such as Steam or PSN
5) Avoid Balmung like the plague
6) If you are matched with well known /vg/ personalities in the game, keep your head down, don't acknowledge them and ignore them
But why do you need to do this? Excellent question
1) /vg/ do not play the game, they idle in locations while teasing eachother. You will find more gameplay and a better community away from /vg/
2) Most /vg/ personalities are lonely and desperate, and even associating with them will most likely get you involved in drama or get your back stabbed
3) The majority of /vg/ servers have nothing to offer beyond the /vg/ population, and you'll often have to deal with them spouting memes and acting like idiots in hunts, shout chat and party finder
4) /vg/ personalities have been known to leak logs of friends they get bored with (see: ippiki skype and steam log leak)
5) Balmung is where the worst of every server congregates. Weekly ERP drama and lonely and pathetic men willing to shit over their friends and talk shit about them (see: the saga of meracle and rylai)
6) /vg/ personalities are known to complain about people they see in dungeons over the general (especially Vjera). Don't want to get called out for everyone to see, keep your head down
Now go and find a nice non-/vg/ server and join a nice and active non-/vg/ free company and enjoy your time with the game.

1)If you're new to the game I highly suggest you join a community, be it a clan or a group of friends, but someone to play the game with. They will make your experience with this game so much better and easier, especially if you have any questions about anything. Seeing that, if you are already in this board, you might be looking for help in these boards, /vg/ is usually pretty friendly.
2)Drama happens. It has happened in every single clan I've been in, regardless of size, goals, views, and 4chan or not. Not only does it happen, but it even leaks into the server and everyone related to it, even websites like here or reddit. Yes, reddit. Any names mentioned here are mentioned because they are probably the ones directly involved with these incidents.
3)Personalities post here because they are bored as fuck for the most part, I personally, do the same. This post included, even the post I'm replying to. Once you play the game and finish everything the patch has to offer, you don't really have much else to do other than wait for daily/weekly resets. So they come here, every now and then someone asks a legitimate question about the game because they are new or confused, and it gets answered immediately, again, every now and then. When there aren't. Its shit posting time for fun.
4)The only thing /vg/ has that will be majorly different from other communities, would be their humor. Nothing that exciting, but people will call others faggots, niggers, sluts, whatever in linkshells, not as an insult, but for the humor / whatever. 100% of the time between friends. I emphasize this because some communities are strictly against foul language like some lgbt clans. If that's something that concerns you, then its something to keep in mind, If you don't you can have the best of both worlds and just be in contact with both, they both have isolated chats and you get double the options, so its a win-win situation.
